Every Time Kenny Talks (Unmuffled)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 вер 2024
- Kenny McCormick has had one of the strongest and most dynamic evolutions of any character in all of South Park. I’ve actually been planning to do a full “Evolution of Kenny” video in the same vein as my Randy Marsh video for a while, but that’s a HUGE undertaking and requires tons of rewatching and research, so while we wait for that, I figured we could talk about something we rarely see from Kenny: Unmuffled, fully comprehendible dialogue! Early in the series, Kenny was mostly used as a punchline, and obviously one of the gags is that his dialogue is fully muffled. But as the series has gone on, they’ve not only expanded Kenny’s role into a more fleshed out character, but granted him the opportunity to actually speak in a variety of different ways. So today we’re going to talk about every time we’ve heard Kenny McCormick talk. Ya know, like, properly.

Best part of Kenny first "unmasking" is that Stan, Kyle and Cartman arent surprised. They know Kenny, they know what he looks like. While we were all surprised and shocked to see Kenny without his hood, the boys were just like: Ok bye dude, cya later

Kenny's muffled voice helps the fact that because he dies so often, whenever he screams or wails in agony, it does not sound too realistic enough for the audience to feel unsettled watching a boy under ten die gruesomely.
I dunno about that. Then it just sounds like a kid being kill while being unable to scream for help.
He also does sound a bit like Tweek, I've noticed...
That's a really good point. He dies in some of the most horrible ways so avoiding his full on screaming does help.
@@Supperdude9 I guess you could say it softens the blow. Plus the fact that you don't get to see his full face with it being mostly covered by the parka. It makes him feel less like an actual person, so whenever we see him die onscreen, we're not disturbed by it.
his voice was actually muffled because most of his lines are super vulgar and have a lot worse dialogue than the others
Kennys "Dude, fuck this let's bail" line in A Nightmare on Facetime is easily my favourite line in south Park. The way he delivers it so perfect
ua-cam.com/video/BUMp0FaZy2I/v-deo.html
I think it’s funny bc he was scared at a dead person yet does so much
DUDE LITERALLY THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THIS DIALOGUE I LAUGHED SO HARD ITS DELIVERED PERFECTLY
FRR It’s one of my favorite too😂😭
That boy Kenny said that because he knew he was gonna be next😂
"Goodbye you guys" and "Fuck this, let's bail!" will forever be my favourite moments from kenny ever
“dude, fuck this, let’s bail!” and “why did i agree to this? i don’t even have a machine to play fall and order on..” are mine. the tom brady episode was so funny to me

Kenny’s extensive edgy dialogue as Mysterion in the Fractured But Whole is really amazing. Especially between him and Henrietta.
ua-cam.com/video/BUMp0FaZy2I/v-deo.html
“If I’m not your worst nightmare, I aspire to be.”
Henrietta saying he’s super goth
Mysterion-thanks, I have a lot of pathos
No line describes him better
"Um well my family can't really afford to go to restaurants.."
"Wow that's goth"
Kenny's actual voice is literally the most unremarkable voice compared to the rest of the kids, which I honestly think makes it even better.
I think they don't even have a consistent VA for him, Nightmare on FaceTime he sounded almost exactly like Butters 😂
The Evolution of Kenny video should be an amazing one. I might cry when it gets to the part of Kenny being such a great big brother to his little sister, Karen.
I cried at that scene.
Are you guys on about the scene from the episode of South Park called The Poor Kid where Karen says to Mysterion "Why did my mommy and daddy go to jail?"
I always think of the episode where he works at City Wok so he can buy Karen a new doll. ❤
@@shinyhoarder (gasps) wait a minute you are on about the episode of South Park called The City Part Of Town
Oh cool another tigers fan
I find it interesting how Kenny has dressed up as Iron Man and Batman in the past (as well as having a Batman like superhero for an alter ego). Because both comic book characters are billionaires who are tech savvy whereas Kenny is poor with aspirations of becoming rich. Maybe this was all foreshadowing Kenny's future as he becomes a billionaire scientist.
i love the 'what the fuck?' line so much. i find it hilarious and i never don't laugh. it's just so funny the way he breaks character and immediately switches up
Can i have timestamp

My unpopular South Park opinion is that I wouldn’t be mad if they redesigned Kenny to hear him talk normally all the time. He’s been relegated to a background character in the newest seasons, which is a shame, but I think they could do a lot more with him if they just let him talk. Maybe it’s sacrilege and others hate this idea, but I’d be ok with it
Makeing him more understandable wouldn't really change much as he is completely voiced already if you listen to him they just need to focus on him more
And the episodes where he is the focus they tend to make him a bit more understandable with less muffle
Yep, Matt and trey actually write real lines for Kenny to say in the script so Kenny does actually say real words, just a bit muffled
@@chancedream1583 I know all this but sometimes I’m watching and can’t help but feel like they don’t give him lines because they need them to be understood, so they give them to another character. Even in Kenny focused episodes like The Poor Kid, they use Mysterion to deliver his most important dialogue (and it’s really effective). Honestly it’s kind of impressive how effective they make him in these episodes, watching The Poor Kid he actually doesn’t say a lot at all and you barely notice if you’re not paying attention. I just wish we had more of him and he could be more fleshed out because he is truly a great a character
@@crung8 That's true that he didn't have a lot of lines under his hoodie in the Poor kid but Poor & Stupid, The Ring, and Major Boobage are all examples of Kenny having a lot of lines under his hoodie throughout the whole episode so they don't need to take his hoodie off to make him more of a major part because there's other characters on TV shows that either don't talk much or is completely unintelligible but on those shows, the writers still write a lot of focus episodes for them so I don't know why they can't do the same for Kenny
ua-cam.com/video/BUMp0FaZy2I/v-deo.html
Kenny has always been my favorite, his design is adorable yes, But I think he brings a really important yet understated sense of groundedness to the South Park cast.
While Kyle is the logical moral compass, Stan is the emotional drama character, and Cartman is… Cartman. Kenny feels the most like a kid you’d know in real life, The poor kid, The one who kinda goes along with things, the one who was forced to mature more than the others because of his crummy home life which affects him in both positive and negative ways (I.E his love for his little sister vs his perverted juvenile understanding of sex)
While all the other main characters feel like they’re filling in roles and dynamics, Kenny is just a nice kid who has flaws from his upbringing that influences him. but really doesn’t define him.
The kid that shouldn't have died as much as he did. I mean, I know it's alright at the end of the day but really he's the only one who basically never deserved it.
He gets the best original future out of all the boys, he gets himself out of poverty, he presumably studies and gets into a great university and later becomes a famous scientist
To be fair having a perverted juvenile understanding of sex is just something allot of young kids do.
@@hulkman245 very true, and it’s why I really like Kenny.
I remember when I went to a sleepover at some kids house while in 4th grade and we wanted to watch funny internet videos. When he pulled out his IPad, he noticeably exited like, 5 pornhub tabs before we opened UA-cam. There’s always the kid who develops a taste for porn before everyone else, and it’s such a real part of growing up, not in the “this says a lot about society” kinda real, but in the “ha ha, nobody ever shows this” kinda real
Kenny will always be my favorite of the four boys, simply because he’s no question the most genuine. He constantly shows through little lines and gestures that he really does think about and care for all the people around him. From him and his parents to his little sister to the other boys. So many moments illustrate how much of a class act he is like his message to Stan and Kyle in his will, or how Butters singles him out as the only boy in the school who isn’t “fake” or a narcissist. To top it all off he’s just a straight up badass, between beating hell in Armageddon and plopping down his balls of steel by staring Cthulhu in the face and telling him to take his best shot. It’s why Kenny centric episodes are always my favorites in the series.
The Jeffersons one was so genius not letting people know it’s Kenny until he’s already dead 😂
Like I remember watching it and having the thought of “is that Kenny??” And getting all the way to the death before the confirmation came and just creasing with laughter over it. The self awareness of South Park’s identical character design is just great.
Yeah, just wish it wasn't at the expense of MJ.
@@mechajay3358 why not? He ate child ass and avoided justice his entire life. The least he deserves is to be made a joke forever.

I honestly thought it was a callback to the mormon kid
Kenny is the perfect balance of not giving a damn, but also caring immensely.
I would love an evolution of Kenny video! He’s my favorite, he’s the most selfless of the four boys and I love how he protects his sister as Mysterion
ua-cam.com/video/BUMp0FaZy2I/v-deo.html
I also love how Kenny has had I believe three voice actors (Trey, Matt, Stough)
And mike judge
@@Duck64355 ah I knew there was more
I know Cartman and Randy are much more entertaining but Kenny is my favourite characters. He's kind, funny and I love his Mysterion persona.
Agreed!!

Don't forget the princess Kenny, dude!
all the characters matt voices are my favs. kenny, kyle, tweek, and craig with the exception of stan. trey has the funnier characters while matt has the sweeter ones.
@@kokichiouma7544 you forgot butters! I love butters
I know it's a pretty generic superpower but I 100% think a Mysterion show would work because of the unique mechanics behind the power. Like an older Kenny having to die over and over to learn more about a criminal hideout until he gets a perfect go through, and no one can really remember the first few times, has some comedic potential
so kinda like crime fighting groundhog day, actually sounds pretty cool
@@InitialPC yeah exactly, I feel like it's probably outside the south park studios wheelhouse as their whole company is set up to produce animation fairly quickly but I bet another studio would kill it. Hell just give it to Studio Trigger they did alright with cyberpunk lmao
what makes it different from other immortal supers is that technically he does die but he just escapes hell everytime
Ah yes, a roguelike superhero
The MJ episode really threw me because I honestly had no idea who that blonde kid was until he died. The way the dialogue is written almost suggests that this is a background character we've never seen before. "At least you finally get to do something." Then it's revealed to be Kenny, and it honestly took me by surprise.
For what it’s worth, we do get a dramatic narration of Kenny’s letter to his friends from Hawaii in “Going Native” as well. It’s definitely Parker rather than Stone doing it and it’s 100% different from every other Kenny voice (sounding more like a nature documentarian). Maybe that’s how Kenny imagines himself to sound?
They do a similar dramatic narration thing in “The Scoots” and iirc it was actually Lex Lang doing the voice? lol and it isn’t clear until the end it’s Kenny narrating
@@tiablue9106 Oh yeeeah, yeah, that’s right. I remember that now too. Always thought they were going for kind of a nostalgic Ray Bradbury story with that vibe.
“Why did I even agree to this? I don’t even have a system to play fallen order on” kinda debunks that
ua-cam.com/video/BUMp0FaZy2I/v-deo.html
The simplicity of Kenny is what I really love. He’s such a basic character on the outside, but is full of some of the best writing I’ve ever seen in a show. Kenny is my favorite part about the whole show, so I can’t wait to see your evolution video!
Kenny's always been my favorite character. One of my more recent favorite episodes features him in a prominent role. The Scoot. I like his little heart to heart moment with Mr. Macky. Even though most of the kids seem to forget about him, he's a good kid. That said, it's always funny whenever they do the usual gag with him. "OH MY GOD!! THEY KILLED KENNY!!" "YOU BASTARDS!!"
ua-cam.com/video/BUMp0FaZy2I/v-deo.html
The passion behind 'No not the socks!' Is amazing
I wish they’d dip into the Kenny well more often. The way they have him speak in the show is so creative
Loved Kenny's development over the series, especially after the added depth of his Mysterion persona and him having true "powers." He was probably my favorite character before these developments because of his sacrifice in the movie, but also a few other episodes, like when he really DOES die, where you really feel bad for him and realize its not being played for laughs like usual. And again in Best Friends Forever, where he revealed he felt sorry for Cartman being a sad, pathetic human being, which is why he left him his PSP. And then the episode where he helps Butters get in touch with his roots in Hawaii, and how Butters has bad things to say about literally everyone EXCEPT him, really endeared him to me. But the way he protects his sister as Mysterion is seriously one of the cutest, sweetest things in the show, and solidify why I love Kenny so much.
Also, he's not afraid to wear drag and act like a girl as Princess Kenny, and he looks MARVELOUS as such.
ua-cam.com/video/BUMp0FaZy2I/v-deo.html
I always found it cool whenever Kenny speaks without his hood on. It's not something that happens very often, but whenever it does, it's like witnessing a special event. Plus looking back retrospectively, I love how creative a lot of the instances are.
The Jeffersons where you think it's just some random kid up until he gets thrown into the ceiling and dies, the Iron Man costume where the mask has a voice filer, and most of all... every instance of Mysterion where he's almost a completely different character in terms of tone and that gruff voice. It makes each time feel so distinct and fresh without overstaying it's welcome.
I love everything to do with Kenny and his superhero alter ego and the fact that once he died in the Post Covid special that they had to add the detail where Karen wore the same green question mark that mysterion just warms the heart. it show how good of a brother Kenny was
When i first saw the MJ episode I didn’t realize that was Kenny until he crashes against the roof and blood comes out. That second i went “oh that was Kenny”
I kinds figured it was kenny when stan said "dude atleast you finally get to do something"
@@FreshPrincex4 that might have confused me more because his voice was so different from the movie.
I love how sometimes you can kinda make out Kenny's muffled dialogue and they can be pretty funny
likeinthe intro where he smth like hey i got a 10 inch penis use your mouth if you wanna clean it
The break when he saw his parents get arrested was my favorite line for so long 😂😂
Same I find it hilarious 😂
the episode "the poor kid" made me absolutely love Karen and how Kenny will stop at nothing to keep her safe, and that cemented him as my favorite character in all of south park. Now I just played the fractured but whole for the first time and was so hyped to fight alongside Mysterion, what a great character
When he says “I will always be there” 😢he’s such a good big brother
Seeing Kenny’s face was like seeing the face of God in terms of how much it blew my mind as a kid
Kenny has always been my favorite character. Those feelings grew even more when they started giving him more personality, and especially in episodes with Karen.
Kenny is the best of the four for sure
6:05
what the f*ck.... uh uh i mean
WOT DA FAWK?

I always love how they try to creatively hide Kenny’s face when he’s not wearing his hood. Like how on the water park episode they literally just show the back of his head the whole time
I wonder why that is. I mean we already saw his face and knows what he looks like from the movie.
5:03 Man, this whole Mysterion plot must have been so cool to watch when the episode were coming out. I wish I could have watched it without knowing it’s Kenny, cause it seems like a nice twist to Kenny’s character.
I love how we do get these small moments of his voice far and few between but I also feel like a "Kennys very own episode" on like a special 30th anniversary would be cool but maybe im just being greedy.
1:49 HIS VOICE IS SO CUTE I'M GONNA CRY

Who TF hates Lice Capades? That's one of the best episodes! So unique, and funny!
It's likely for the fact is a lice episode
Lice episodes of shows tend to be gross and make you itchy
Just the thought of lice tends to make peoples heads itchy
It's a placebo/involuntarily contagious thing kinda like yawning

It’s overhated as hell, but it’s not that great
Just don't enjoy the lice characters, they all annoy me

The fact they knew mysterion from just his eyes being uncovered, when kenny's eyes are usually the only thing visible, makes a lot of sense
Kenny as Mysterion is actually so perfect because he's always leaving his face a "mystery"
I like how the movie is still the only time as far as I know that we've seen Kenny's face completely uncovered. Other times, he has had some sort of mask on or the goggles in the waterpark episode
in "the losing edge" I think his cap is kinda low on his face but we still see him
edit: also in "super best friends" we see his face clearly
His face is uncovered in the first Super Best Friends episode. He doesn’t say anything unmuffled, and granted- he is already dead- but Kyle finds him and the joke is that he doesn’t recognize him for a while before finally saying “OMG…”
Kenny is type of kid to look and sound nice but deep down has noted the weaknesses and how to kill everyone he met
7:34
Iron man Kenny sounds like a kid version of Wrench from Watch Dogs 2
Kenny (iron man voice): DUDE F*CK THIS LETS BALE D:
Kenny started as a one note joke, but has become my fav on the show over the years
I loved the death when he was crushed by the piano. It happened right after Kenny yelled at Stan
Kenny is such an underutilised character. I feel like they had some really interesting ideas in season 19 and then did him so dirty after that point. He doesn't even get an on screen death for put it down which is a missed opportunity.
I actually really liked the in memoriam reveal in Put it Down it doubles as a punchline
Kennys face is so precious 😢❤
kenny is my favorite character in south park and when you start to understand what he says even while muffled is like learning klingon or learning minecraft enchantment table alphabet
Thank you for making this video, Kenny is by far my favorite character in South park and I love finding episodes with him as the main character. So thanks again.
I honestly have no idea why people don't like lice capades, it's one of my favorites

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought Kenny’s reaction to the burglars was just the funniest thing ever 😂

7:22 Bro Sound Like Butters
7:29 “OH MY GOD! ITS NOT KENNY!”
There was a reason why he was muffled. In the earlier episodes, a lot of things he would actually say were were really vulgar and rude, so i got past the censors.
It’s about time we heard Kenny’s unmuffled
voice! This should happen more often.
i clicked on this video because i thought it would be a silly compilation but this man takes south park seriously and you is a absolute W for that.
zooming in on kenny's unhooded face and rewatching any clip you can hear him is also just how I watch this show
cannot WAIT for a kenny evolution video!!!! he's such an amazing and fun character and I know you'll give him justice:)
Kenny is my favorite character- he’s the focus of, as far as I can tell, the only moment in the show where anyone gets an unaltered “good” ending to an episode (that being when he brings the toy to his sister). Also, him being poor allows for all sorts of jokes (the colecovision being my favorite)
just the subtle ok! that kenny says at 1:18
Mysterion: "I. Cant. Die..."
(Silence..)
Me: "OMG ITS KENNY!!!"
"Kids are a**holes sometimes"
"Dude, f*k this let's bail"
😂😂
OMG AT 1:11 I LAUGHED SO HARD WHEN KENNY SAID “Okay😊”
I still want another Kenny focused episode with his sister again. It was soon great. It's my personal favorite.
I was certain this was just going to be a compilation of every time he spoke, But this analysis of all of them is pretty interesting
I would love to see Brendan Fraiser voicing adult Kenny if we ever return to the future timeline
An adult has already voiced him: Season 22, Episode 5.
"Every time Cartman doesn't talk"
my favorite part about kenny out of costume scenes is that they always keep his animation consistent like as a character kenny moves his hands and body a lot more than the rest of the kids cuz he doesnt talk as much and even in scenes hes talking and not wearing his costume he still moves just as much
I would also totally love a video of some things Kenny says while still muffled, because I know some of it is out of pocket like crazy 😂
YES MY FAVORITE SOUTH PARK CHARACTER GETS A VIDEO. Butters is my 2nd fave btw
Stay tuned bc I'm gonna do HUGE videos on Kenny and Butters before too long

It’s a rare treat to see Kenny’s face & hear his voice
the new episode "Dikin Baus Hot Dogs" showed his face but no dialouge saldy
7:32 I love how they were so confident until they found out that the robbers shot the worker and are like, "fuck this shit, we're out."
Blows my mind that Mike Judge did his voice in the movie, I never would have assumed or guessed that, It hurts though that I didn't know this for some 20 odd years
8:35 This one's often missed but, "s21: Holiday Special" is another unmuffled episode and is currently the only time you hear him use the Mysterion voice without the costume. (Actually, the whole episode has him masking his voice while making phone calls with Stan, Kyle and Cartman.) "s22: The Scoots" is probably another one, since the twist of the narrator is that he's actually an older Kenny reflecting back on his childhood.
good point (but "the scoots" is from s22)
@@tiablue9106 Right, misclick.
Theres a whole lot of Mysterion in the last half of fractured but whole and he's always great

I loved seeing Kenny on here. And hearing him talk too.😊😊😊😊
The first time Kenny talked made me cry for 2 weeks straight every time I think of it
Kenny has been one of my favorite characters of any media ever since I was 10 (yes I started watching South Park at 10, my uncle was a teenager with a poster of it on his wall and it interested me) I hope we get more Kenny centric episodes soon, season 26 has been ok so far but Kenny has been reduced to a background character so much recently. He was even dead for most of Post Covid and never got a real unmuffled speaking line. Don’t get me wrong, I will always love the show, but I’d love it so much more if we were given some more Kenny content.
i love how whenever they do show Kenny's face, or voice, they never treat it like this big event. makes it feel more natural and special at the same time
5:20 “Dude, Fuck this lets bail!”
While its a shame the intro got cut, I actually like the immediate start with the most iconic Kenny dialogue
i love the moments with him and his sister the most omg
You forgot old many Kenny’s narration in the Halloween episode with the scooters! His inner dialogue in Going Native is worth mentioning too
Yeah, i replied with this earlier. Season 22, Episode 5: The Scoots.
The voice actor was Lex Lang, credited as "Adult Narrator."
One of my favorite Kenny line is "because it's pissing Cartman beyond belief and I find that extremely funny"
I always thought that there was a certain charm in the simplistic portrayals of Kenny in the earliest episodes - he could simply just stand there totally quiet together with the rest of the boys and look badass, then get killed, with someone screaming "Oh my god! They killed Kenny!", and that was good enough, lol.
Kenny is the only like nice kid in South Park
I think Kenny and Tolkien are the ones I would actually be friends with if I lived in South Park.

I'll always remember the blanket one since I didn't even consider for a second that was kenny,
since i didnt see the movie yet at that time, making the reveal that much more surprising for me
The first time that Kenny revealed his voice sounded like a higher pitched stan
As far as group dynamics go, Kenny is the closest any of the kids get to Quagmire given how thirsty he is lol
At least with kenny he wouldn’t rape anyone
I remember as a kid, after South Park movie was released, Kenny’s reveal made it into the British Newspaper “The Sun.” I remember my mum showing me because I wasn’t allowed to watch the movie in the cinema yet lol.
