    Good topic. There is a ton of info available on matching tippet size to fly size. You don't wan't the tippet too stiff for a lifelike presentation or too thin to straighten the fly.

    Just 3 hours ago I was evening fishing a foam hopper on a 3 wt...and Yessiree it was twisting up to my surgeons knot so that I had to keep unwinding it every 20 casts or so. Frustrating in the low light but some bass were biting, so I kept at it. Tomorrow I’m upsizing the tippet! Thanks so much for sharing this with us. Much appreciated! Best wishes for Big fishes! 🎣. God bless

    Hi Dan, just and update on me being a fly fishing guide/teacher/instructor for my friends, today’s lesson is coincidentally about leaders and tippet, yesterday I saw them have a lot of problems with wind knots, but casting is improving, they even caught their first fish, 2 beautiful rainbows (since I’m from Chile and very close to Patagonia, these fish are so big and strong, they do fight like no other, even the little ones), anyway, great video today, it will really help me teach in a better way to my friends (or should I say, my students? 🤣🤣) keep the joy and passion you put on every video, I really think they are amazing🎣

    Hey there! Thanks again for the videos. I have a question as I’m new to the sport. But why do they sell the tippet section separately if a lot of the leader you can by are already tapered? Should I be ordering the leader and tippet?

    • @FlyFishDan
      @FlyFishDan  3 роки тому +1

      Hello! Once you’ve shortened your tapered leader from fishing, you use tippet to add a little length. Here’s a vid that helps explain - cheers! ua-cam.com/video/evEhabJZEyc/v-deo.html
