Be careful with the word alignment. In the late 90's "alignment" became a big catch word at "Global Leadership Summit". We were close to losing the distinctiveness of Frontline because people started asking, "Why are we doing "this" but Frontline is doing "this"? Wouldn't it be better if we did it together?" The big question is, "Alignment with what?" People were asking for alignment with methodology. Wrong answer! What we did have is alignment with vision, values and macro look at strategy. We had different methodology to accomplish those values because of the unique audience we were trying to reach. With this mindset we could maintain a strong alignment but have different methodology.
