I can see why Angelina chose to cover this so quickly after Adeles release. Why the lyrics may have been so meaningful to her. In the song she wrote at 12 SHIELD she asks for forgiveness for " What I am" this too asks for that... I WAS JUST A CHILD....I had no time to choose what I chose to do....Her family has had to change their lives for Angelinas career. Moving to the USA from Norway. Careers and lives were disrupted. Her sister left friends. She is obviously very grateful and aware of this. I always imagined she imagined singing this to her younger sister.
She speaks ... Norwegian, Swedish, Persian, English and Japanese, the little girl she gave her shoes to when she was 6yo the conversation they had was entirely in Persian. AJ is very clever, shes graduating from her LA high school a year early at 17yo. then we get to hear her new Album... I cant wait!!!

Everything that makes Angelina different from Adele is very subtle. All the little touches and different textures. While almost all other female singers are trying to out-belt each other Angelina has been working on the fine details.

I would be horrified and severely disappointed to see her performing in her underwear like so many girls but I don't expect that will ever happen. Ever since she was a small child her wardrobe has been carefully selected and tasteful. I think Angelina balances being a classic singer and a 21st-century teenager incredibly well.

Yes Angelina has much respect for Adele - this was recorded a few days after the song was released. I think that Angelina could relate, in her own way, to the story. Angelina made some big choices by the age of 6 - she pestered her uncle mike about moving to the USA, probably by the age of 11 or possibly earlier, the family moved to LA in March/April 2018 for her to break into the US music industry. It didn't quite go to plan - the momentum created by the AGT champions was lost during the pandemic. So, her request is that we - go easy on her - she was just a child back then...

Adele is a great singer. Angelina is a generational talent, at the very least. It's no disrespect to Adele to say that Angelina is just a better vocalist.
Apart from early vocal lessons on how to protect her voice and techniques for breath control most of her musical training was on instruments. We have seen her performing on the piano guitar but she also had early lessons on flute and violin. I think this emphasis on instrumental education is why her runs are almost instrumental and so clean.

I have seen Angelina actively play piano/keyboard and guitar in casual videos (and Suspicious Minds), but I have not seen any others, like flute & violin. Seems that she studied those in school.
Douglas I agree with you about her playing piano and guitar never saw her playing violin or flute. Furthermore she is fluent in Norwegian, English and Swedish but I don’t think she is fluent in Japonese and Farzi.
@@rogercarriere4756 as much as she has traveled, it seems likely to me that she is probably conversant enough to probably get by if for example, she got separated by herself in the middle east. With one grandparent being Persian and the other having been Japanese, and with her having been to both countries, I can't imagine that she is not at least able to say " where is the bathroom " or please call me a taxi". I have seen a video of her singing in Japanese, in order to do that in such a way that native speakers could understand her, she would have to have at least a limited understanding of the language. Rather like people here in the southwest US who interact with those who speak Spanish. I can't carry on a conversation but I could make known to those Spanish speaking patients at my work at least simple, basic ideas.
For those of you that have not seen any of Angelina's art, she is very good. Her grandmother is a famous Iranian artist and has taught her. Angelina's work is very similar to her grandmother's work. Angelina's work is a little more abstract.

It was almost as good as this version, so some believed she had heard the song before it was released. I believe it is her musical genius.
Adele has a very warm voice and writes incredible songs of lost love. Angelina has many voices and writes songs of lost loved ones, songs of gratitude and songs of hope and positivity. Both of these artists are top of their class.
You make an important distinction. Adeke usually focuses on losing something. Angeline has said in several interviews that she wants to project love and positivity. WHAT IS LIFE, 7TH HEAVEN, DIAMOND are very motivational.
I actually hear bits of Adele in Angelina's pronunciation of certain words. For example, like "chance" is pronounced by both, sounding more like "chain-ce". Same little bits and nuances are heard when she sings songs popularized by Elvis, Billy Holiday, Etta James, really all of the artists she studied. It's just enough to be recognizable and pay homage to the original performers but not interfering with her own stylizations, and IMHO definitely not trying to completely imitate or mimic them. Also, the subtle Angelina vibrato she puts on the end of the first "... feel" (didn't give me a chaince to feel...) is astonishing and shivering at the same time.

Awesome reaction and she recorded this just 24 hours after Adele released this! Also Angelina plays the Guitar, Piano, Violin and Flute. Also she speaks, reads and writes in 4 languages, Norwegian, Farsi, Swedish, English and is familiar with Japanese. She is taking German in school and living in L.A. is also learning Spanish. The girl Paints and with help from her Grandmother sews and designs her own clothes. She hangs around Heidi Klum a lot and now she is being taught Modeling by her. I have no issue saying Angelina is a superior vocalist. She just is. That's not an insult to Adele. She is amazing, as evidenced by her success. Some comparisons are subjective and what is preferred. But some is what an artist is capable of. (Some artists have an ability and WAY over use it.) Angelina can do things other artist simply can't and she knows just the right time and amount.
I have seen Angelina play piano and guitar with her being more proficient at the piano. It is said she can also play the flute and the violin but I haven't seen it. The flute may have been part of school music. Did you know she also makes her own clothes. The suit she wore at AGT with Bohemian Rhapsody, she had made herself with a print from her grandmother's art. Yes I agree Angelina sings it quite a bit different from Adele. Though some people feel it is very similar. Perhaps their memory of Adele's version is not fresh enough :-) I prefer it to Adele's version as well. I still love Adele's version though. Firstly, we need to say thank you to Adele for writing such amazing songs. Secondly, we need to appreciate vocalists like Adele along with everyone else who has to rely on life experiences and to show they are feeling emotional in order to convey emotions in their singing. Yes, I think it’s easy to judge Angelina’s version as better than the original. Adele and Angelina are both great singers, but Angelina has more vocal tools and she has absolute, complete control of them. Give Adele huge credit for her consistently great songwriting, but her melancholy themes are right in Angelina’s sweet spot. She knocks all her Adele covers out of the park-because she is simply the best popular singer I’ve ever heard.

There is at least one video clip out there where during a rehearsal for an upcoming concert Angelina has either interrupted the rehearsal or afterwards taken the piano player aside and shown or instructed him on how she wanted the piece to be played. She apparently has pretty much arranged her own and the support band's performance from the time when she first appeared on Norway's Got Talent at seven years old if not earlier.

Yes, she plays the piano .. and just as you said .. for rehearsals and such. She sang this in tiktok I believe the day after she heard it .. she so loved it. Then a few days later dropped this version. You are by no means the only person who has "liked it better" than Adele .. and always slightly sad or shamed to say so. My take on that is that Adele is a grown woman who lived through the fullness of this story .. the complexities of love .. and shares it somewhat at a distance. Brilliant writing and complex emotion but a certain distance back ... and Angelina is singing as if she was living through it right this moment .. feeling every part of it deeply. I adore what she does. Gorgeous. What great writing in this! I love the line " .. and had no time to choose what I chose to do." She is 15 here. Did you know she can speak four languages? Japanese…as her mothers father was Japanese (the grandfather that she wrote Million Miles about)…then her native Norwegian…. then Farci as her grandmother (Mery) is Iranian….. then of course English.
And as her father is Swedish, add in that as well. Perhaps French and German are part of the Norwegian curriculum as well. Now that she lives in LA, I think she picked up Spanish as well, she at least sang a Spanish song :-)

Hi Britt. I am sort of scared about Angelinas power. She sings all kind of music and make me like it, she even made me like jazz. Luckely so far she has not done classical/opera, I am afreid that if she does I will like that to ( getting waves of cold in my body just thinking about it ). In many ways Angelina is like another singer, Sissel Kyrkjebø ( you have to a scandinav to be able to say her last name ). Sissel is one of the worlds best ( if not the best ) crossover female sopranos. She sings everything from bluegrass to Opera but I skip over her opera songs. Will I be able to skip over Opera if Angelina sing ?

I have seen Angelina actively play piano/keyboard and guitar in casual videos (and Suspicious Minds), but I have not seen any others, like flute & violin. Seems that she studied those in school.
Douglas I agree with you about her playing piano and guitar never saw her playing violin or flute. Furthermore she is fluent in Norwegian, English and Swedish but I don’t think she is fluent in Japonese and Farzi.

@@rogercarriere4756 as much as she has traveled, it seems likely to me that she is probably conversant enough to probably get by if for example, she got separated by herself in the middle east. With one grandparent being Persian and the other having been Japanese, and with her having been to both countries, I can't imagine that she is not at least able to say " where is the bathroom " or please call me a taxi". I have seen a video of her singing in Japanese, in order to do that in such a way that native speakers could understand her, she would have to have at least a limited understanding of the language. Rather like people here in the southwest US who interact with those who speak Spanish. I can't carry on a conversation but I could make known to those Spanish speaking patients at my work at least simple, basic ideas.

Adele has a very warm voice and writes incredible songs of lost love. Angelina has many voices and writes songs of lost loved ones, songs of gratitude and songs of hope and positivity. Both of these artists are top of their class.
You make an important distinction. Adeke usually focuses on losing something. Angeline has said in several interviews that she wants to project love and positivity. WHAT IS LIFE, 7TH HEAVEN, DIAMOND are very motivational.
I actually hear bits of Adele in Angelina's pronunciation of certain words. For example, like "chance" is pronounced by both, sounding more like "chain-ce". Same little bits and nuances are heard when she sings songs popularized by Elvis, Billy Holiday, Etta James, really all of the artists she studied. It's just enough to be recognizable and pay homage to the original performers but not interfering with her own stylizations, and IMHO definitely not trying to completely imitate or mimic them. Also, the subtle Angelina vibrato she puts on the end of the first "... feel" (didn't give me a chaince to feel...) is astonishing and shivering at the same time.
Wow indeed.... "She sounds like... Angelina" - quite agree ! :) Adele is great but she can't do what Angelina can do with her voice... I am not a great fan of direct comparisons but when the voices are put side-by-side, as has been done and the videos are available, Adele's voice sounds rather thin and tinny next to Angelina's... (Angelina often drops consonants which would otherwise interview with the vocal flow.. )
Her hands and their motions are as expressive as her powerhouse voice....

Awesome reaction and she recorded this just 24 hours after Adele released this! Also Angelina plays the Guitar, Piano, Violin and Flute. Also she speaks, reads and writes in 4 languages, Norwegian, Farsi, Swedish, English and is familiar with Japanese. She is taking German in school and living in L.A. is also learning Spanish. The girl Paints and with help from her Grandmother sews and designs her own clothes. She hangs around Heidi Klum a lot and now she is being taught Modeling by her. I have no issue saying Angelina is a superior vocalist. She just is. That's not an insult to Adele. She is amazing, as evidenced by her success. Some comparisons are subjective and what is preferred. But some is what an artist is capable of. (Some artists have an ability and WAY over use it.) Angelina can do things other artist simply can't and she knows just the right time and amount.
I have seen Angelina play piano and guitar with her being more proficient at the piano. It is said she can also play the flute and the violin but I haven't seen it. The flute may have been part of school music.
Did you know she also makes her own clothes. The suit she wore at AGT with Bohemian Rhapsody, she had made herself with a print from her grandmother's art.
Yes I agree Angelina sings it quite a bit different from Adele. Though some people feel it is very similar. Perhaps their memory of Adele's version is not fresh enough :-) I prefer it to Adele's version as well. I still love Adele's version though.

Firstly, we need to say thank you to Adele for writing such amazing songs. Secondly, we need to appreciate vocalists like Adele along with everyone else who has to rely on life experiences and to show they are feeling emotional in order to convey emotions in their singing. I like to think Angelina draws upon the universe and connections to those in heaven to convey emotion. She is unique and in a different league.

Yes, I think it’s easy to judge Angelina’s version as better than the original. Adele and Angelina are both great singers, but Angelina has more vocal tools and she has absolute, complete control of them. Give Adele huge credit for her consistently great songwriting, but her melancholy themes are right in Angelina’s sweet spot. She knocks all her Adele covers out of the park-because she is simply the best popular singer I’ve ever heard.

There is at least one video clip out there where during a rehearsal for an upcoming concert Angelina has either interrupted the rehearsal or afterwards taken the piano player aside and shown or instructed him on how she wanted the piece to be played. She apparently has pretty much arranged her own and the support band's performance from the time when she first appeared on Norway's Got Talent at seven years old if not earlier.

Yes, she plays the piano .. and just as you said .. for rehearsals and such. She sang this in tiktok I believe the day after she heard it .. she so loved it. Then a few days later dropped this version. You are by no means the only person who has "liked it better" than Adele .. and always slightly sad or shamed to say so. My take on that is that Adele is a grown woman who lived through the fullness of this story .. the complexities of love .. and shares it somewhat at a distance. Brilliant writing and complex emotion but a certain distance back ... and Angelina is singing as if she was living through it right this moment .. feeling every part of it deeply. I adore what she does. Gorgeous.

She is 15 here. Did you know she can speak four languages? Japanese…as her mothers father was Japanese (the grandfather that she wrote Million Miles about)…then her native Norwegian…. then Farci as her grandmother (Mery) is Iranian….. then of course English.
And as her father is Swedish, add in that as well. Perhaps French and German are part of the Norwegian curriculum as well. Now that she lives in LA, I think she picked up Spanish as well, she at least sang a Spanish song :-)

Hi Britt. I am sort of scared about Angelinas power. She sings all kind of music and make me like it, she even made me like jazz. Luckely so far she has not done classical/opera, I am afreid that if she does I will like that to ( getting waves of cold in my body just thinking about it ). In many ways Angelina is like another singer, Sissel Kyrkjebø ( you have to a scandinav to be able to say her last name ). Sissel is one of the worlds best ( if not the best ) crossover female sopranos. She sings everything from bluegrass to Opera but I skip over her opera songs. Will I be able to skip over Opera if Angelina sing ?
