Remember this is 2000. Mobiles were not very common then, the part where Raj catches sirjee with the mobile ring, switchimg it on and off, was unique at that time and blew us away.
Lol this movie hasn't aged the best but its one of the OG's that you just gotta watch with rose colored glasses. Great songs. You guys were great sports with it. I personally haven't ever wanted to rewatch this one; its best left with the good memories in the past for me lol.
My exact sentiments. I never go to this movie if I wanna rewatch the oldies but I still have fond memories of watching it as a kid.
@@sittingduck1735 you have no idea about craze of this movie. Audience were clapping whistling and shouting in groups in every dance step of Hrithik. I am watching movies from last 35 years never experience like this again. It was last era of audiences who were intelligent about the content.

Movie industry lobby activated after the success of knph. They were sledging openly insulting Hrithik and his family during film awards from stage.
Except Govinda and Anil Kapoor all were had dead face during the filmfare awards.

This was the release of 2000 and it was the day when we appeared for 12 th board exam. Directly after last physics paper all of us ladies from our family age 3 to age 45 went to watch this. Hritik had his debut movie and it was overnight hit. It was freshest of the fresh story and film to watch with exotic locations.
Girls loved the idea of being stranded with handsome guy on exotic island.😂😂😂

SRK was so insecure of newcomer Hrithik that not only he got a song named "I'm the best" in his film "phir bhi dil hai Hindustani" (which flopped) but also parodied Hrithik in his Pepsi ad

yeah..no actor can reach the level of SRK, they may be famous in their own country, but not abroad like SRK.
there is no term to feel insecure in the industry, if you really have talent, aura, intelligence you will definitely raises, especially if you have a family that comes from the industry itself.. SRK was present when the industry was in a low phase, no one even heroes even those who already have a big name can't raise the industry..SRK came out with Baazigar, Darr (though only a dark role, not like other actors who came out and played hero roles) then his name became mentioned by fans, even more famous than the hero...then followed by Ddlj, Kkhh, Dtph etc. Bollywood became famous until foreigners knew about Bollywood, even when people boycotted Bollywood there was no actor who could silence the boycott gang, until Pathaan came out and he silenced the boycott gang. We may be fans of other actors, but you can't deny that SRK is the king of Bollywood. Even in the eyes of foreigners Bollywood means SRK.
But he actually dethrone Srk. From 2000 (Hrithik Debut) till present, Hrithik has more awards than Srk with less movie.

Despite the fact HR is my favorite Bollywood actor, I don't particularly care for this movie. In fact, I might be the only Hrithik fan who doesn't like this film. To me, it's best seen as a casting collage of clips displaying his versatility as a star; the story/plot was illogical (not to mention... kind of silly) to me, even back in the day. This doesn't, of course, take away from the fact that Hrithik's dancing in this is iconic, and the soundtrack is great. There were parts of his performance that were notable, and I understood why he got overnight stardom, but did I ever think this was a great or even "good" movie? No, I did not.
But what really won me over was Hrithik's acting prowess in "Fiza" and "Mission Kashmir," both of which came right after this. And both of those were great movies, even if not the commercial masala type.

This movie released when i was in school. Overnight it was a sensation. Girls were swooning over Hrithiks physique and boys went bonkers over his dance skills a la "Ek pal ka jeena" style.
A new kid overnight almost toppled SRK.
All of us were super crazy for all the songs in this movie.

No Hrithik became an overnight sensation with this film. This is easily one of the two most popular ad commercial successful movies of his career, the other one being Koi Mil Gaya. Whereas Amisha too had an extremely successful movie to her credit, Gadar which was released alongside Lagaan and broke all records.Gadar 2 released last year also was a huuuge hit.
