I sat in one and I liked it much more than I thought I would. And it looks much better in real life I think. The rear even makes me think of my own Paceman, because of the low part of the roof at the end.
But I must say it still feels a bit weird that MINI uses less round shapes in the current designs.
The one drawback of the JCW model is the price, well over £ 44K!
So we went to Sytner Mini Sunningdale and ordered the Mini Countryman C Sport with level pack 3 which comes under £ 40K. We have ordered it in the same colours as this JCW model. It has an almost identical exterior and can be specced with the same wheel options although we ordered the car with the slightly smaller black wheels that truly look cool in this colour combo.
Still not keen on the idea of using a touch screen to alter the climate control not a good idea whilst driving but all the manufacturers are like lemmings and doing the same thing the I drive was perfect this is a backwards step.
Its stunning and the interior is such a welcome update. I look forward to seeing a J01 review.
Why show the top of the range because the base model may look completely different.

Definitely agree with the review of the outside, great looking car. I was ready to sign on the dotted line after going to view one, then I got inside.. minimalist I can do and the screen is cool, but everything else felt stripped down. Plastic feeling interior with holes in for speaker grills unlike the previous versions with actual speaker mesh. The airplane like buttons that featured in previous versions were such a unique look and feel, but this one just shares very similar parts to any of it’s BMW siblings. Just look at the sunroof control unit, it’s the exact same found in most BMW’s.
Overall I wanted to get one but getting inside my F60 vs this new version just doesn’t compare. We spend most of our time inside the car so that’s important to me.
I look forward to seeing some test drive reviews.
