This takes place over a 100 yrs after Aegons Conquest to Westeroes and 200 yrs before Game of Thrones events. We will see Vhagar, the oldest dragon at this time period. Vhagar, she was 1 of the 3 original dragons that helped conquer Westeros.

The last season has left a bitter taste in my mouth, so I'm not watching Jon Snow ever again. I don't know how many people want to watch Jon's Snow saying "she was my queen" repeatedly. Another reason I don't want to rewatch GOT is none of the cast members except Emilia Clark accepted that the writing was disastrous. Kit Harington kept saying "people who didn't like the show can f$$k themselves". While Peter Dinklage said "people are upset the show is over that's why they didn't like it". Really? These cast members insulted viewers and their intelligence who made them famous in the first place. I think they forgot every Artist needs an audience. I still can't make up my mind about watching this prequel, afraid to get invested just to be disappointed again. Anyone here in the same boat?
I agree that ending was disastrous but I understand the fact that most actors don't want to be harsh on the people who chose them for the biggest role they ever played, and some of them built a friendship with them. I believe that some of the actors just won't accept the fact that they invested a decade of their time performing THAT WELL and the ending was that bad. But mad respect for the one true queen Emilia Clarke for speaking out. Her character was the one they did more dirty. All the moral compass being built for eight seasons. She even sacrifices her dragon to do what she wanted to do (more than being a queen) - saving the people... This in ep 3 of season 8. Then 2 episodes later kills everyone on purpose! (I would actually accept Dany accidentally killing a lot of people in Kings Landing and people thinking that she did it on purpose and that she turned into the Mad Queen while us viewers would know what happened, and that she was just being wrongly judged, just like Rhaegar)
About this prequel, tbh I'm all in after seeing how Condall(great writer btw) is not just a fan of asoiaf but a real "nerd" who read it dozens of times and really loves it, and the details in this trailer shows that (like the pinky cut in the iron throne). And Miguel produced some of the best episodes in GoT. The story is already finished in the books and Martin is always around and apparently Condall calls him even at 1 am when he has doubts. The cast is great too! So I truly understand your concerns but what went wrong with GoT is not there anymore (David and Dan). And the things that went right still are (Martin, Miguel, great actors and Ramin Djawadi)

Littlefinger portrays himself as an innocent,harmless, trustworthy man while in reality he is a power hungry scheming backstabber. Rhaenys is a Targaryen Princess. She is the blood of the dragon. She was passed over twice at different time periods when it came to who should inherit the throne. Once for her uncle and the other time for her cousin Viserys who is the king when the show starts. She is passed over on the account of being a woman. Her son also gets passed over because he descends from the female line. This is the reason she is known as 'The Queen who never was'. She would have actually been a great queen. She is strong willed, politically intelligent and is a great character overall. Rhaenys and her husband Corlys Velaryon form a real power couple. Rhaenys is a total badass. She rides the she-dragon Meleys 'The red queen'. She wears armour and rides her dragon into battle. She is a wise woman and one of my favourites. I bet she is going to become a fan favourite when the show airs.

Yeah these are the events which eventually lead to their downfall, so this is PEAK PEAK WHEN THEY were GODS and GODDESSES, well they appeared to be. There is too much about the Targaryens and their rise to powers, it's actually better than game of thrones. I'm so glad the show runners now have the raw materials of the history, I have faith its going to be epic, and they are going to do their best to stick with the material. I'm still hoping they will do Aegon's conquest and even Valyria one day in the future, but this all looks really good and I'm excited.
Agree, It's a very good trailer with the focus on the characters and the dialogue which is sharp and well delivered. I'd be wary of trying to do a 1:1 kind of comparison with GOT. This will be more confined and could well be more action orientated. This is a stellar cast tho and I've got no doubt the character and political elements will be very well done. To answer your question, yes, the Dragons (at least in Westeros) were at their peak here with 20. They died off and declined rapidly after the events this show will portray.
I hope most of the people who felt burned by the end of Game of Thrones give this a fair chance. Not having Benioff & Weiss involved means that it's actually going to be good.

It's probably going to change things slightly since the original show changed history slightly. But also, the cool thing about Fire and Blood, since it's written by a Maester is highly biased, and therefore some of the 'histoty' may be slightly different then what actually happened

This is based on the Fire and Blood book by GRRM. And the book centres around the civil war and infamous Dance of Dragons. So it’s the peak of Dragon power and also the beginning of the end for the dragons…until Dany comes along many years later.
