Hey Angela, I have a little bit of a request. I'm planning to move come end of the year and I have LOT of hobby stuff. Tons of models, way more than I have cases for, light boxes, photography equipment, etc. I'd love to see how you pack your stuff, especially the persnickity models and fragile stuff. Hope the move goes well!
If you have a lot of boxed products like board games and you also have a local game store in your area go ask them for their cardboard boxes from their shipments of new products, they are very sturdy boxes that can support the weight of board games. As for built/painted miniatures, those go into carry cases like what you can get from people like battlefoam and the like. I've also used stackable plastic containers from craft/storage stores for some lose or partial built minis. For stuff like LEGO or action figures, they go into big plastic storage containers that you can get at like target or Walmart cheaply. I hope that helps!
I did this when I had surgery a number of years back. Create a backlog of videos, a let's play of a game, 20m long, could be uploaded before the move date and set with timers to go live. This could help during the terribly fun times of a move and setting up.
I went through something very similar a few years ago. I ended up living in my car and as a result had to say goodbye to all of my Hobby stuff. I am glad your situation isn't as bad and I hope you and your family find a place that you love even more than your current space! Best of luck with your move.
Just a thought but if you don’t need to stay there for employment reasons, and are both full time on content creation, it might be an opportunity to move somewhere with a lower cost of living? I’m Canadian but I assume the Bay Area is San Fran? That strikes me as a super pricey place to live!
Bay Area is definitely San Francisco area (I live here, too in the East Bay -- about 30 miles outside of San Francisco, and about the same north of San Jose). It's insanely expensive here. Rent on a crappy 2BR apartment is around $3000-3500 a month (at least). The smallest, crappiest single-family house you can find will go well north of $1 million. (Just looked it up. In my area, there is exactly one house that's less than $1million -- it's 1165 sq ft and built in 1963... the next one up in cost is $1.15 million) And that not just IN the city. That's like the 40 miles surrounding both San Francisco and Silicon Valley. So like a huge 70 mile stretch is insanely over-priced until it slowly starts tapering off.
I'm SO sorry. I know how much you liked the new place; I watched all the videos as you were setting it up over the past couple of years. I hope you find an even bigger and better space in the coming months.
Next home will be picked entirely focused on making content and being a workshop/studio. We don't have to worry about office commuting either, so we'll save a lot on just location. (We stuck close to the Bay area train system originally for that)
That was really hard click bait. My heart jumped a bit when I read the headline. My first thought was "OMG, they are breaking up and now they have to split the whole collection." so I am really happy for you, that it is just a new fresh start with a new studio. In my opinion moving is a lot of work and planning, but it is also a great opportunity to sort everything and create something new and different then the last space. So I wish you good luck, that you find an awesome new space and a lot of fun on the move. ❤👍
it's always a blow when you love doing something and it has been a big dream where i have just recently just watched you announce that you have to move and not sure if you have a family , i have been down that same road but i have a family to and when you have been settled in for years like me it's so up setting .I eventually made my mind up to buy a house and now i'm painting my figures once again thanks to watching all you great miniature builders and painters so i hope you get some where to do your stuff and hope to see you great work........................

Oof moving is never fun. Glad to hear you're sticking around and will continue making all the content you do. Best of luck, I hope you find a lovely new place! 😊
Yes, and longterm we will, but we have a number of personal and business conntections and plans in the next year we want to stick around for. We will be moving much further from the actual cities so that we're dealing with more 'normal' california rent vs BAY
@HobbyNight You mention 7Years across multiple channels and you mention that the ChaosCultist is content creator, too. Do you both only work together on UA-cam on the HobbyNight or are there other channels in YT of you two who are still up and could you give us the links to them? Would really love to take a look at that early content.
I remember when you moved in and how excited your were, so sad you have to move out :( but excited to see where you end up and what new opportunities it will bring - onwards and upwards!
I have NO IDEA how it is possible to be full time content creator living in the Bay Area... it's extremely expensive. I barely can make it living in SPAIN (my content is in English). We had to move from Madrid to a much smaller city, so we could get a mortgage and buy our own home - WITH A GARAGE that is now my studio. Good luck to you and your guy! EDIT: oh, I just checked that you have a "spicy" content, ha ha ha. Now things make more sense. Anyways, moving to a less expensive area will help you make ends meet - specially if both of you are free to go to whatever place you want, no need to be physically on any specific area.
Renting is not fun long term, all the best luck. I own my apartment but it’s very small and I have completely fitted out the 2nd bedroom as my business office, so realistically I live in a one bedroom apartment on the ground floor, it was the only way I could afford it as I work from home as a base.

Thank you! We have a couple of areas we are looking at already and I'm optimistic. Once we learn the exact timeline of when we need to be out it'll help. I'm stuck in this 'should I start packing or wait a month' state as we wait for exact details from the landlord.

Don't give attention to the derelicts writing "Click-bait" ... Landlord is selling under their lease so they are actually losing the place where their business is established. Most likely dudes that never got a shout out for their donations or something for attention. Future of the channel is they are moving and keeping the social media and youtube along with providing a positive attitude towards building more content. It's a massive let down to see so many soft men using the word click-bait for comment clout and just exposing how weak they have become. Yikes.
@@HobbyNight You can also check out areas like Brentwood and Discovery Bay. Honestly, probably a lot easier to reach if you need to get to the Bay Area proper than Stockton (that's a LOT of traveling on the 580.... went to an AEW show there last year with my daughter, and it took us a lot longer to drive there than expected)
I'm not even sure where hobby night lives but you should have renters rights, they are great. In the Netherlands this means if you rent a place and the landlord wants to sell that means they have to sell with your current contract: anyone buying the place still has to rent the place to you. A home should be a human right and renting leaves you precarious to the capricious power of the landlords, therefore you should be protected by the government. So far the politics. I hope my comment helps ya out with the algorithm and stuff.
So we're on a month-to-month lease. Meaning we get 60-days notice of official eviction, which we have NOT received yet. We've received word from the landlord that notice is coming SOON, so we're working with the owner on that. Basically, nothing that's going on is outside the owner's rights and we're not angry about it. We've had a generous rent agreement for the condo the entire time we've been here.
@@HobbyNight 😂 I didn't know about it for a couple of months after subbing. I thought this was an "innocent" modeling and gaming channel! I've since found out there are other channels who I don't sub but have watched some of their videos for a couple of years before finding out they did "alternate" production. "Dual content" creators now seem to be everywhere.
There are so many commenters who took the title of the video WAY too seriously. Maybe if they followed your Facebook page they would have quickly seen what was going on.

Looks like "Operation Relocation 2.0 is GO!"
@@HobbyNight You know how the market is here. Pretty much the _second_ he puts it up for sale, that place is gone. Wish you luck finding a new place.
Best of luck
Battletech's going to help you out.
this reminds me why i busted my ass to buy my home when i was younger renting is stupid...

Also ! ! ! Beware of swaters, thew have become quite deadly lately ! ! !
Renting is a nightmare. 😮
There’s a lot of this begging going now. Terrain tutor has an annual collection lol
But you just moved in. Now you're moving again? Wow. New wall? Bigger. Yay . Wait what smut?
Wait, what, 'smut content'??? What did I miss???😮
..I.. are you serious?? Like, did you really miss the ads?
*This is the response of a woman who worries she overly spams it*
@@HobbyNight 😂 I didn't know about it for a couple of months after subbing. I thought this was an "innocent" modeling and gaming channel! I've since found out there are other channels who I don't sub but have watched some of their videos for a couple of years before finding out they did "alternate" production. "Dual content" creators now seem to be everywhere.
@@HobbyNight yes, I really did....?
o.o; I gotta market better...
There are so many commenters who took the title of the video WAY too seriously. Maybe if they followed your Facebook page they would have quickly seen what was going on.
Es una nueva oportunidad de crecimiento 😊
Damn near gave me a heart attack! And NOT in a good way. WTH!!! But good luck with the new place.
I'm so sorry! I wholly admit to baiting this one for attention to the situation but trying to soften it immediately in the vid
@@HobbyNight Like I could stay mad at you. LOL
Relax dude
You need to move states cali is going into full shite hole. I don't agree with the smut content but that's a personal decision, but I do wish you luck.
you really need to get out of California and see what it means to live. until then, you don't realize how bad it is there!
