    I got my class As in Ga when I was 18, but my problem was finding someone to hire me. I finally found a company back in September, so I got 3 months of experience so far as a 19 year old and for it being my dream job since a child I love it.

    I’m 20 but got my class A when I was 18. The law for anyone under 21 is hard to work around. I can’t leave the state I live in so I live an hour from a state just north of me. But I’m 6 hours from another state line. So I can drive 6hours east but not an hour north. I only have a few months until I’m 21 but I think that law needs some work. If they’re going to restrict us that should give us a circle radius, not state line to state line.

    • @averyw.3939
      @averyw.3939 5 років тому +1

      Agreed, I believe it is a radius for farmers, but it should be for construction and other local companies as well. The Idaho panhandle is terrible, I can drive for a day if I go south but I can't drive for an hour to get supplies from Spokane.

    hey Chris, when you get a chance you should look up ‘truck and dog Australia’ as an Aussie i’m just wondering if you think they’d be allowed to run in the states? they’re similar to what old mates driving but they use a dolly instead of a solid draw bar, real good for tight construction sites

      We have them in the states. I live up in Washington state and the company I drive for has 8. We just call the trailer a turntable but I'm not sure if that's the technical name. It has one axle connected to the tongue and three right behind on the frame.

    Chris do you know what what class CDL does he has Class A or B? Since he was talking about doubles and triples trailers I would think he might have class A CDL? Might be the best video you have done I’m hoping drive dump trucks also!

    • @andrewmelton8938
      @andrewmelton8938 5 років тому

      You will need a class A bc your pulling a plup. The truck is no longer a class b truck with a trailer behind it.

    • @Tiedye6336
      @Tiedye6336 5 років тому

      Andrew Melton with a class B CDL can drive a Class B truck dump with a trailer but you can’t pull a plup without a Class A right?

    • @andrewmelton8938
      @andrewmelton8938 5 років тому

      Class A cdl is required to operate any combination of vehicles with a gross weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds including a towed vehicle with a gross weight of 10,000lbs or greater.
      The Class B cdl allows you to drive a
      single vehicle that has a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 lbs or more and is pulling a trailer that has a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 10,000 lbs.

    • @andrewmelton8938
      @andrewmelton8938 5 років тому

      So basically you can only pull a trailer with a class B only if it I less than 10,000 pounds anything over you will need a class A

    You should interview the owners of the “Hawkeye Hauler” that hauls football equipment for the University of Iowa. They donate their time and trucks essentially to the athletic department. They pay for the gas, trucks, trailers, paint job, everything. In exchange they get field passes to watch every game from the field. They are a private trucking company out of Muscatine Iowa. It is by far the nicest hauler out there amongst all universities football trucks. Here is a video to tease you: ua-cam.com/video/FE_cjuKR8VE/v-deo.html

    I need some advice.. I'm a teen that's wants to get in the trucking business but I'm worried about many things such as like if they get paid well or if the trucking job will stay in the business for years to come, I don't want to work for someone, I want to be a owner operator, My dad was a trucker and I've always loved trucks when I went on a road trip or something I loved singing trucks, especially at night, But I don't know what my parents think about it, but I need some advice, main questions,
    1: do they get paid well
    2: will the job last me for a while,
    3 what do I need to do
    I'm sorry for the long paragraph I just want to follow my dreams!!!

      UziWarrior Want advice? Stay away from it, unless you stay local. Money is good but you have to climb the ladder. Get yourself into a trade, you’ll do much better off!

    • @rollierex308
      @rollierex308 5 років тому

      I’m 22 years old owner operator, id say the money is there but it’s can be a ton of work and very time consuming. But hey it’s something I love! I love in Colorado so when staying local and working hauling material by the ton it’s not to bad depends on the co tracts you get. Out here they pay about 95$ an hour as o/o or some contracts are based on the amount of material hauled. A good six month average 10 hours a day. 5-6 days a week. So you can do the math. You do have to keep in mind the expenses as well as insurance since you are pretty young like myself it’s pretty outrages. When I’m not local I use a flat bed or a car hauler and pay varies but average about 4-5k a week and it’s only about 4days work and back home 3 days off just really depends. My best advice to you would be start off with a conpny that will take u on so your able to get some experience in doing the work itself and driving. Just kinda seeing how the flow of things is. When u feel comfortable and stable to go on your own make sure you have some money to count on as some jobs can take up to 3 months to pay youAnd you need to keep working or even unexpected repairs. Make the most relationships you can with folks already driving, companies and see what you want to go with. I’d do more research for the area your In and what type of work is mostly available. When your ready for your own rig know what type of work you need it for. You don’t want “too much” truck in some case it can just be more pricey. Best of luck to you!

      1.Get a dump truck.
      2. Send your paperwork to Asphalt companies in your area.
      3.The pay ranks from $75- $85 an hour.
      4.Asphalt companies keep you busy until the cold season.

      Calvin Dubois transfer dumps are retarded the only advantage to them is you can haul two differant types of material,other than that pointless,some west coast deals just stay due to tradition, kinda like doubles running in california

    The theory test is a piece-of-piss, took mine at 19 with no trouble. But again maybe it was because I’d been around trucks all my life too.

      That can't last as long
      Legal weights in Utah can be 115-125k
      A Detroit can't take that for long

      Rondal Simonds awards dont mean shit ford f 150 wins awards and fords suck ass, dwtroit 60 series is a decent motor for a fleet truck running 80 thousand or less but there performance sucks, they do not make the numbers cats made,just look at the 1650 torque? That aint worth a shit compared to 2400 foot pounds lots of cats made
