Hello, 09 clubby s owner here. I have blocked off my pcv ports on the passenger side and I’m running a DIY OCC like you on the driver’s side. I have 20,000 miles with this setup and no issues. She just rolled over 160,000 miles.
Love the channel... It's not flamboyant and riddled with crazy graphics and "cool talk". It's to the point and I absolutely love that! I've been building my '10 Clubman S for about a year. In Louisville, Ky built or modded MINIs are extremely rare. Civics, 370 Zs & Q60s , Chargers & Challengers, Mustangs and a lot of Bimmers are all the rage in Louisville. Chargers... A freaking a lot of Chargers seems to be the "Me Too" car though. I wanted something different and so far I have the only decently modded Clubman in Louisville. If there is another one I have yet to see it. Here is where I am at so far... Gecko coilovers and camber plates, Magnaflow full race catless exhaust, Milltek catless downpipe, IP performance ignition coils, AEM cold/ram air intake system with AEM heatshield, ECS oil catch can, all FORGE silicone hoses & charge pipes, FORGE intercooler, Forge analog BOV, Clutch Masters FX400 Clutch/lightweight flywheel kit, BorgWarner Airwerks SX K03 EP6 turbo upgrade, GlowShift analog boost gauge... Malone Tuning based in Sol Cal worked a wonder of magic with a stage 3 tune. While it was expensive they managed to give my MINI an incredible amount power. The 60-120mph is absolutely absurd. I managed for the 1st time ever to push a car to its mph limit. Thats 160mph... Of which I was easily able to hit. I did this racing an 8 Series on an empty stretch of hwy. I can't imagine what the guy (or girl) thought about getting beat by a MINI Clubman. I don't drive my MINI very much. While it is fast, I have yet to add anything to help the insane heat issue that my MINI has. I do not want to ruin everything that I have worked so hard to accomplish. It's also a MINI and I am afraid that I will break it every time I take it out. Our MINIs are so damn fragile. I love the feeling I get the rare times I do see another modded MINI. When I do the other driver knows the struggle of owning and building a MINI. While at the same time they know how much fun our MINIs are and how ridiculous they can be when built right! It's a bond that absolutely love about the MINI community. We are the ones who are different... The ones that buck the meta in car culture. We get made fun of for choosing to build a car that is widely known for its fragile nature and crazy amount of problems... When those problems are overcome though we are able to absolutely blow peoples minds and that makes it worth it! Oops, forgot to mention the one thing that abled my car to actually hook... Tires. Pirelli P Zero Corsas up front and Y rated Pirelli Cinturato P7s in the back resting on a set of cheap O.E. dia.16in Sparco Terras. Wheels are like my "icing on a cake". When my car is finished I will flip some cash on a decent set of wheels.
I don’t worry to o much shoot breaking mine, i commute 112 miles a day for work and about half of that is on windy mountain roads. I just keep up on maintenance 💪
Dude!...I loved your response to those who dislike cheap plastic guides on the timing chain. AS for this video on CC's ....I'm torn. I enjoy the performance of my mini (07S 131k,km) and having a new top end I'd like to keep it new. However I'm kinda aggressive in my driving style and therefore I'm always in the boost so in theory dual catch cans is the way to go but having all those additional vacuum lines tied into a valve cover that is already a nightmare is a recipe for disaster. There is yet another caveat (issue) those CC's can wreak havoc in the winter (mine did) and still yet there's the fact that there is no block heater and no provision for one.....Yeah I know it all sounds rather negative....that'd be cuz it it is! lol....On a brighter note, the 3rd valve cover I bought ...abt 100$ from Rock auto (URO) seems to be holding up well....another tip...my headlight lenses were nearly opaque. I tried all the B.S. from toothpaste to the restore kits...your readers can bypass all that grief and proceed directly to the "winners circle"....what I did was wet sand the lenses with a vibrating electric palm sander, (for really bad cases start with 400grt or 600 then jump to 1500grt or higher,...then when it appears you have totally ruined your headlights....wipe them clean and and give them two light coats of all purpose CLEAR acrylic lacquer...BOOM!!...you can hear the angels sing!....take care.
Great video. I have two questions. I was told that if an oil catch can does not have baffles and Filtration inside It it will still suck oil into your engine. Here’s where I’m confused. Are baffles filtration or is filtration two separate completely separate things? Somebody said they liked oil catch cans that have baffles came apart so you could put steel wool in baffle to help reduce the gunk that gets into the engine to an even larger degree. What do you think?
Project Mini I noticed that the kit looks like it has some Steel wool. Do you use steel wool? Do you think it’s worth spending the money for an internal filter?
Several questions. Do you think it would be possible to remove oil and water by sucking it out of hole used for dip stick? I have a 2009 mini without turbo, so only going to use 1. Live in New England. Concerned with ice forming in catch can. Is this an issue? Considering adding a few drops of injector cleaner into catch can every month as a preventative measure. Thoughts?
Interesting about using two catch cans. I am currently using one catch can serving the intake manifold. I own a 2008 S Supercharged. I suppose it would be a good idea to run a second unit for the supercharger? If so, where exactly should it be installed? Thank you.
If the fittings on the catch can are too small for the 19mm hose - once connected using the 12mm hose - would that not create some sort of air flow restriction?
Are you going to install a lighter hood like fiberglass or carbon fiber? I would like to know where to get a good one on a budget and see an installation video. Also... still waiting on that forge turbo blanket install😁 love the videos, and thanks for the torque arm bushing link, just got it in the mail!
Witch is your in & witch is your out at, I'm just wondering.I pretty much know where they go none. What side but I can figure out? What would you do with the other end
I am a new Mini owner. I am getting some smoke after sitting at a light as soon as I can on the gas, it does not smoke under acceleration or startup. I just got two cans and I am hoping that will stop the smoke. What do you think?
Nice video! I have a problem.. Clubman S with n18 when I install the catch can, my car get a lot of smoke when I push full throttle and high revs!! So I had to put back the stock pipe 😢 why? P.s. got new PCV, same problem
Seems the N18 is different? Converations on your facebook group range from "N18 doesnt need them at all" to "N18 doesnt have an intake on the idle side so you can only fit one on the turbo side" to " don't do it as it will cause issues (I had to do my head gasket" - so please confirm what is the correct approach for the N18 engine - thanks.
Put a catch can exactly the same as yours, ever since I have been getting low boost, and a rough idle, any ideas to the cause. I was thinking possibly a block can or its faulty
If anyone knows anything about this please comment... When I drive my MINI in heavy and sometimes average rainfall my gauges, wipers, instrument cluster and radio go bonkers... They bling on and off repeatedly while sometimes staying off. The whole interior goes "dark", but the car drives absolutely fine as if nothing is wrong. When I park the car in the garage and remove the fob the "car lift" icon will flash while the "error beep noise" repeats itself. Usually whatever is wet dries and the car goes back to normal. If the wetness takes to long to dry the battery will die from the repetitive issues going on in the cabin (so I usually disconnect the battery when this happens). This issue came out of nowhere one day when I was driving home during a thunderstorm. Before this I had driven my car in the rain hundreds of times without a problem. I have taken the car to my local Euro speed shop (they are actually really good guys who I have become good friends with). They said it was a specific type of seal issue. So I ordered the seals and they installed them... It didn't work... This is the only issue that I have not been able to fix. I can not find anyone who knows what this may be because according to everything that I have learned... The seals should have fixed the problem. I can not recall exactly what seals they were, but it doesn't matter because I literally replaced every seal that is supposedly related to this issue and a lot of extra ones including the ones in the sun roof, all door seals, that pain in the butt 2 piece upper hood cowl where the wiper blades are and many others. This issue is driving me crazy. The only way I can tell if the problem is fixed is if I drive it in the rain, but I am afraid to drive it in the rain in case it isn't fixed. If anyone knows anything please help and thank you.
When is someone going to market a hi vol hi perf, oil pump for the n14??? I've been driving around for near 3 yrs...actually ripping around...with a low pressure light....hundreds of owners ,...if not thousands are scratching their heads and setting fire to their hard earned cash searching in vain for their "problem".....ya aint gonna find it in most cases. What it amounts to is yet another design flaw with the n14 wherein after the engine gains some mileage and all the clearances start to open up the oil pump is no longer able to to overcome the bleed loses. Does anyone know of a special pump?...lemmee know please. In the meantime I'm gonna talk to a couple of the big aftermarket Co's (trw,Cloyes...etc) and try to shake things up. Take Care, but drive it like ya stole it!

I haven’t seen any oil in my turbo since I installed the catch can. I don’t use any steel wool either
Project Mini Thanks for your help
Nice One! Thanks for the info and the demo......... UK

I have no plans for a lighter hood but my turbo blanket is on back order
Hopefully you can get around to doing a wheel alignment?
Witch is your in & witch is your out at, I'm just wondering.I pretty much know where they go none. What side but I can figure out? What would you do with the other end
What i cant find is if i have the N18 engine do i really need the catch can or cans still?
On an N18 its not as important since they have a better PCV system
Thanks Eric! Another happy car, happy driver video. Got my catch can doing the job. 💪🏻
Bester Mann!

Hello, can I use 3 port catch can?
Yes
Want to put braided line on to catch can, what size would I need? an-8 or an-12? to be the same as 3/4 inch or 19mm
N8 is .5 inch n12 is .75 inch

What size fittings are you using for you catch can?
I believe they are 9/16 but I’m not 100% sure. They are the biggest ones that came with the catch cans
@@ProjectMini thank you, appreciate the reply.
I just looked it up and they are 9/16
Thx!!
It doesn't matter what someone prescribes to. You tout yourself as someone willing and ready to answer questions, do you ??
