  • In this episode, we'll look at Automation Items in REAPER and work through a few examples of creating glitch effects with LFO on automation items to control parameters. These basic concepts can be used to create powerful, complex, and reusable automations in REAPER to control both track parameters and FX parameters over time

    For how to use Reaper Kenny Gioia and yourself are my go to guys. Seems you cover things a little beyond Kenny ( no offense to Kenny ). Both of you are invaluable to any Reaper user. Especially for us newbies. Sooo much to learn!! Thank you so much!!

    It's great that Reaper just gained functionality for finding synonyms in the Action List, because now Myk can find "envelope" when he types in "envelope"

      I think we were all surprised, because it totally blew away any idea we had for how he might look. I thought that video was great, he should do more "personal" videos on occasion so we can get to know the real Kenny

    This is timely. Well, to be accurate, it's two days late for me - but on the bright side, I now know _precisely_ why I need this technique. ;)

    It would be nice to automate the parameters of the automation item properties, for instance to automate the Cycles slider 😁 Or is this already possible..?

    GREAT TIPS especially love the ending. If you don’t mind me asking how do you like Steven Slate Drums I am currently using EZdrummer 2 but I’ve been looking into Steven Slate Drums. Thanks again and glad to see you’re feeling better.

      Thank you, feeling much better now!
      I can't say i really use SSD much, honestly, since I have my own drums and can play well enough. I do use it on occasion if a performer doesn't do well to a click and they don't have drums tracked yet, like when they would be recording scratch guitar tracks for reference for the drummer.
      If you are looking to upgrade from EZ Drummer, i think i would go with Superior Drummer 3. It is FAR more versatile and also has the option of sample replacement/augmentation of live drums. It will literally listen to drum audio and convert to midi, and allow you to trigger samples from its libraries. SSD seems it aims to be more "mix ready" drop in replacement, whereas Superior Drummer feels and sounds more "natural" and less overly processed to my ear.
      that said, if you need some lives drums for a small project or would like some to work with just to mess with learning to process live drum audio, mic bleed, phase alignment, and all that stuff, I'd be glad to throw down a beat or two!

    Is there a way to add automations at time stamps! Example- let’s say you want a echo but only want it to be on for a set number of bars defined by time stamps then turns off again after ??

    • @LetsTalkAboutReaper
      @LetsTalkAboutReaper  Рік тому +1

      Hello, and sorry for the late reply. I'mma have to think about that. I'm not sure how it can be done by timestamp but my first thought is an automation item of the desired length to control a send to an echo/delay effect with a sufficient amount of repeats, and an automation item to control either the volume or mute state on the FX track.
      This would be a great one to discuss with the hive mind on my Discord server and see what ideas we can come up with.

    Hi mike!
    is there a way to send midi information to an automation item, i want to send a melody that is in MIDI to a FX parameter "pitch" in a pitch shifter that is affecting a audio track
    thanks.

      @LetsTalkAboutReaper  3 роки тому +1

      fortunately, it's VERY easy to change back and forth using automation items and LFO as opposed to manually writing that on the lane, so you can try many variants and stick with what you like.
