Dimash won an international piano competition at the age of 5. His piano teacher had to stop him from playing music too advanced for his young fingers due to the fear of deformity his developing fingers. Dimash constantly says he is not a professional (piano player, drummer, dombra player, etc. ) but it's laughable when you see him keep up with the best of them. 🤣

I saw in an interview with his piano teacher that she had to feed him goodies to get him to do his piano practice when he was very little! Then later, she found popular music for him to play because he wasn't too interested in the more classical pieces. 😄I guess he's glad now that he stuck with it!

I'm surprised you didn't recognize the term Adagio. It's a musical term often found on sheet music.
Dimash is a multi-instrumentalist and plays seven instruments. He plays seven instruments: piano, keyboards, dombra, drums, guitar, marimba and bayan. He speaks Kazakh and Russian, and is studying English and Mandarin.
He swims a lot as part of his routine to develop lung capacity. Swimming lengths of the pool underwater. I don't know if it's confirmed but I've read somewhere that he also freedives.

Yes, swimming was the way he developed his lung capacity from a very young age. Dimash was invited to participate in this competition. It was the 1st time he sang in English or Chinese. He had to learn each song within a week using phonetics. This competition was between well established professional singers, also his 1st time away from his family ( no English or Chinese - he relied on an interpreter) . In his own country, Kazakhstan, he was already an award winning performer in many many competitions . Sings in 15, maybe more by now, languages and speaks 4 or 5. Plays 7 instruments composes music n writes lyrics. Fortunately, the Chinese loved him immediately ( audience were the judges, all involved in music in some way) and spread the word ,worldwide, thank goodness. He is a most humble young man and sees himself as no better than anyone else. Re his range - Ignoring the fact that his teacher had told him not to keep singing high notes, he wud go practice encouraging his voice to develop in a huge rang, inspite of his singing teacher advising him not to, he used to go up into rooms where he would not be heard 😊.
He holds a Doctorate of Music, as well as other degrees of specific genres.

Love your reactions! You are starting to get Dimash, our beloved singer. To many of us, he is barely below God in terms of our level of worship. But he deserves it all. This is what he does that continually amazes me.
First, about 5 or 6 different registers, and he can pull up whichever he wants at any time. And hits notes dead on and so seamless it's impossible to tell often when he switches. Its like a piano.
Second, his control over dynamics. Most singers gave about 5 settings in dynamics. Dimash has about 15. For example, on a single note he might start at level 6, move to level 10, then back down to level 7. The next note, jump to 12, then down to 3. It like he programs his voice like a computer.
Next, his vibrato. From pure tone to heavy vibrato, and anywhere in between. And then he can control the frequency of it. Again, like a computer.
Next, breath control. He can get so much out of each breath. And the higher he goes, the less air he uses, so he uses that as a mind game to us. Also, he practices underwater swimming to expand his lung capacity. It's part of his training routine. Who else does that?
Next, his emotion, and how he shows it. Singing is a full body experience. And there is never any doubt to what emotion he is conveying. And he is willing to go to major extremes.
Next is tone. He can sing the same note in 10 different ways. And he picks and chooses each one individually, jumping around.
So, similar to programming a computer, he plans out his song. He literally has hundreds of combinations to pick from, and he can control them all.
Next, the things outside of himself are always top notch. The stages and lighting (and once the water fountains), the bands and orchestras, the production and producers, and sound (don't get me started on his mic control). Always flawless and always extreme. Also, the camera work, the angles, the the eyes.
Next is a fearless stage presence. He never doubts he can pull it off. He never doubts that he is loved by the audience. And he has the ability
Finally, the songs themselves. Masterpieces in every right. Every one of them are full productions, are epic, are genius. NOTHING is not next level.
I've probably left a few out... but that is how I see Dimash... pretty damn close to diety.

Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly".
This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonate, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace.
The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and give his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself.
The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music composition and different lyrics (Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance).
But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version: it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in english and italian for it and is the original performer of this new version.
She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration.
This song has become a classic and has been covered by many : Shirley Bassey (!!), Dimash (Lara is his absolute idol and he covered several of her songs), Floor Jansen, Polina Gagarina, Giulia Falcone, Laura Bretan, Il Divo, Rimar, Vitas, Anastasia Luna, …
They made great covers but none of these match the amazing storytelling performance of Lara, or her ability to use vocal subtleties to be in sync with the music, exposed in her live from the concert From Lara with Love.

Adagio, musical term for "in slow time". Dimash is a very skillful pianist, he is infact a multi instrumentalist. Not just a singer but a highly educated musician now about to finish his PhD in musicolgy and take up a place at the New York Film Academy LA branch to do a University course in Film making and Directing. He has experience of both in making his Music Videos which are all of the highest quality. Dimash has always been an a academic always getting an A. His teacher Marat played a trick on him by telling him he was getting B grades. Dimash was shocked but worked hard trying to regain his A grades but still Marat told him no he got a B. At the end of term Dimash sneaked a peek in the teachers record book to find he had been tricked,all his marks were A grade. In good humour Dimash and his teacher had a good laugh about him being fooled 🤣 yes Dimash swims, he stays underwater for the length of whatever pool he finds while travelling the world for work and his huge and brilliant fun solo concerts. They are epic you need to watch his last concert, its on his official UA-cam channel in 3 parts as its sooooo long, almost 4 hours of incredible songs and all the Dears singing while he conducts and gives them vocal exercises with him. Yes, Dimash said that he does use the pool of any hotel he stays in when he's on tour for breath control. He still does vocal training for 3-5 hrs. every day. I hope to see your reaction to three of my favorites by Dimash. Your Love, Love Is Like A Dream, and Ave Maria. Of course, you will not be disappointed. I am a 73 yr. old great-grandmother and Dimashs' voice even gives me goosebumps. Thank you for your comments. It makes listening to Dimash that much more enjoyable because you are so real and you break everything down so even I can understand.

He also plays a number of other instruments, but considering himself not a master at them, does not perform on them at concerts.
Yes, you guessed it, Dimash is a swimmer too. There’s a clip floating somewhere on UA-cam of him diving in at one end of a pool, and dolphin kicking all the way to the other end in one breath. For even more amazing demos of his lung capacity, see Jamaica, Sinful Passion, Love Is like a Dream, and Stranger. Though holding a single note on one breath is impressive, I find that one breath in Sinful Passion absolutely astounding: already starting at a fortissimo, upward glissando, exploding at a super high note, holding, then tumbling down in cascades of runs… all this in 23-25 seconds (depending on which version you watch, the Sochi or the Moscow one) on one single breath……!!!! That to me is the Olympic gold medal of vocal acrobatics.🥇🏆
Dimash plays several musical instruments (dombra, guitar, drums, piano, keyboard, xylophone, among others) but has declared that the one he prefers is the piano on which he composes some of his songs.
He began to study singing and piano at the age of 5 and already at the age of 6 he won a piano competition in his hometown of Aktobe. He was diagnosed as "perfect pitch" at a very young age. His parents are singers and his family plays several instruments that Dimash began to learn.
In an interview he declared that he has 20 years of musical training and that he is currently pursuing a doctorate in musicology.
He won a scholarship for 1 year to learn "Audiovisaul Direction" at a US University, which was already announced on social networks.
He is just 28 years old.

I heard that Dimash won his first piano competition aged 8, so, yeah, guess he knows his way around the Ivories! He plays multiple instruments, including the Kazakh Dombra. He does swim- a lot. As much as he can to maintain and extend his lung capacity. [ I'm convinced Dimash has the same lung capacity as those old time deep sea pearl divers- who can run along the bottom of the ocean on one breath for 5 minutes at a time! 😆]
Sings in just about every octave, and every genre, and in 15+ languages. { He had very little English here in 2017. All learned phonetically...} Composes, and continues with his martial arts training / fitness regime... Us 'lesser beings' can only choose to be Inspired.

I do take great comfort from an interview with his mother, where she complains that he's often absent minded and disorganised about pragmatic everyday matters - like remembering to get to an airport on time. Presumably because he's 'away in his head' most of the time - making music! You probably already heard -- yeah, Dimash is a swimmer. Great for training.
You`re right, Dimash does play piano, he started vocal + piano school at age 5. Aside from piano, ha can 'play with' about 6 other instruments, including the national kazakh instrument, dombra, at which he`s very good without formal training.
And you`re right about swimming too, he loves to swim and does so often, sometimes under water :) And he`s quite tall. So there`s the factors for his lung capacity, other than vocal training :)
