I’m absolutely loving that Christoffer is getting so comfortable with being on videos. Christoffer thank you, we really love your cooking and baking content. ❤
And your humor! We're seeing it more and more and I, for one, love it. I think it's probably part of what attracted Cecelia? Not the ONLY thing, of course!
I’ve come to conclusion the reason I am so drawn to these videos is because of the polar night and all its peaceful, cozy vibes. I find my peace at night when the world is quiet. I thinks that’s why I watch with so much longing at these videos in particular. The coziness of coffee and warm pajamas at 11am in the morning and it’s still dark and peaceful. It’s just magical.
Omg I feel exactly the same. I love winter for the cozy dark evenings and everyone’s snug in their homes. I am such a home bird and I feel like it’s more acceptable to stay at home in the winter months too so love it! ❤
@@CeciliaBlomdahl Oh, so do I, Cecilia. I admire that, together, you two (plus Grim) have crafted a life that suits your needs and desires _so_ well! 🤩
True! At the same time, I can hear the Europeans saying - open the door/windows to let some fresh air in. Not too long in cold climates - but even 10 minutes allows a fresh air exchange. Since becoming familiar with the wisdom of doing that, I do that, too, now...going against my USA upbringing which seals the house up tight for the winter. And, really, I don't think that 10 minutes once a day makes a significant difference in the heating bill, but it does really freshen the air inside the house. I'm in the NY Catskills, so we have winter. I do choose around the daytime high for the brief window thing, to lessen the cold effect. Unfortunately, haha, I have no way to hang my bedding out to air. 🙂
I absolute love that Christoffer has been in so many more videos lately. I enjoy his view of life and absolutely love his dry wit. Thank you for sharing your lives.
I'm so impressed with how well trained Grim is. You put those delicious food plates down on the table and walked away without fear. Grim looked but didn't touch. Bravo!
I love everything about Cecilia's videos. The scenery, learning about Svalbard, Cristoffer, Grim, their beautiful home and new cabin, cooking,...My favorite Sunday video! ❤
Cecilia only shows you the Svalbard she wants you to see - if you watch other videos on Svalbard you’ll see it’s quite different to how Cecilia portrays it. Longyearbyen is like an industrial estate and the government has an interesting way of dealing with foreigners who want to live there. If you look at her videos she does the same repetitive thing - we mainly see their house, twinkling lights, soft background music, a bit of northern lights, lighting her fire and telling us how much she loves polar night- it’s her version of a romanticised Svalbard…..her vlogs are nice to watch and she’s a good storyteller, but that’s about it.
Cristoffer’s English is outstanding. I wish I could speak a second language. English is tricky. I mean he gets extra points for using the word “shebang”. 😆
I also want to comment that you two have created such a great community of people around the world who tune in to learn about life in the Arctic, something most of us would never have given a second thought if it were not for your videos. Reading the comments, I see people are from California, Azerbaijan, Alaska, everywhere, in the world, and we’re all spending time, more or less together, with you, sharing for a brief time in each of our lives, your experiences living in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Thank you for bringing us all together!
I love watching Christoffer cook, he just has this calm way about him which comes through. Whereas the very lovely Cecilia cooking is more...exciting😂😂😂 Love to Grim❤
I used to dread the winter because it gets dark so early, and it was cold, and just felt miserable. Your videos of polar night have really helped me change my mindset about winter to focus on the peacefulness and coziness. I still prefer spring and summer, but I've actually found myself getting excited about fall and winter this year, and I have you to thank for that!
I said to my hubby this morning while eagerly clicking your video: "you know, seriously, if I could snap my fingers and go anywhere in the world at this very moment I would choose Svalbard, specifically Cecilia's cabin ♡ Greetings from Cape Breton Island, NS 🇨🇦 love you so much !! You warm my heart every Sunday.
I live in Toronto but grew up in Nova Scotia. For me, Cape Breton is one of the most beautiful places on earth 🥰 Anytime sometime in Ontario tells me they are going to NS, I tell them seeing CB is a MUST.
I love your positive attitude about polar night. I live in a snowy area of New York State by the Great Lakes in the winter. Most people in our area are winter haters...so it's refreshing to see your attitude.
While my winters are not nearly as dark, I had been feeling a little grumpy this evening and your reminder about getting outside for some exercise was exactly what I needed today. Literally paused the video to take a walk in the crispy cold winter air and look at the beautiful Christmas lights around my neighborhood! Felt SO much better afterwards. Thank you for helping me see the joy and beauty of winter!
That sky and moon and stars that you started with was SPECTACULAR! It was such a deep blue it was almost purple. Now I see why you love polar night! Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you, Cecilia! I enjoy your videos so much. I live in Canada, and although my region does not have polar night, the days are very short right now and I have always disliked it. Your positive attitude has helped me to embrace the darkness and adjust my perspective from depressing to cozy. I have taken your cue with candles and ambient lighting and I love it. What a difference attitude makes! Have to add, please give Grim some pets from me, he's absolutely adorable!
I don’t know about anyone else, but I love to watch your videos on a Sunday morning with my Matcha latte and my croissant. The heat is on the candles are flowing and the curtains are closed. It just makes my whole day. It’s just a great relaxing vibe.
Christopher, your Svalbard meat sauce brings me back to my childhood . In Canada you could only get fresh mushrooms, lemons, when they were in season, so we made "spaghetti" sauce just as you do, only my Mother would add carrots chopped into very small pieces...it was delicious, filling and yes, there was always lots left over to freeze! Thank you for sharing your recipes with us! I'm asking Santa for a Thermamix❤ they are incredible!😊
Carrots are delicious in bolognese sauce. I would sometimes make a vegetarian version with red lentils, and finely chopped carrots would add a lot of flavour.
I enjoyed moving from Cecilia haphazardly harassing a sweet potato with a peeler…to Christoffer casually mincing an onion using his absolutely fluid professional knife skills. 😂 I love them both. ❤
I am so fascinated by these videos. As a coastal Californian who has never lived in the snow, I’m blown away by seeing you outside in your pajamas and short sleeves in 14 degree weather. I don’t even remove my coat until it reaches 70 Fahrenheit. And my ancestors are Vikings.😂
Rest assured that as a Scandinavian I'm equally blown away when I see videos where people in cities like L.A walk around in jeans and jackets and sometimes even leather jackets at around the temperature you described. Where I'm from 55 and above in Fahrenheit is shorts and t-shirt weather 😁. There has been done a lot of research on how your body acclimate to both cold and warm temperatures and usually it becomes easier the more time you spend outdoors, although some people seems to always experience cold or heat intolerance. I reckon both Cecilia and Christoffer spends a fair amount of time outside even in winter and going from a warm house out in the cold you won't immediately start freezing.
Thank you for your videos! We so appreciate your beautiful family and calming conversations. ❤it’s means so much as we’re dealing with some difficult matters recently and you help us get away from it all even for a little while.
Did anybody notice the halo at 2:29? According to a great piece of literature I own, this forms, when cirrus or cirrostratus clouds are forming at around 8 to 10 km height, possibly bringing bad weather... At my understanding, the light of the lightsource is reflected by the tiny ice crystals, that will eventually form some clouds...
Immediately thought about a countertop hydroponic herb garden for your dark days of winter. I love mine and it's easy. You don't need a green thumb and always have fresh herbs regardless of supply issues. Love your videos. Many thanks.❤
Watching you from Azerbaijan and Svalbard seems to me like a different planet ☺️ I could never handle living up there… I think being on that island is a completely different experience of reality. You are brave! Wish you all the best there! Love your videos and your channel.
One Brazil nut a day is important, especially for men to prevent prostrate problems later in life. I like how you promote good nutrition, exercise, and healthy living. And a love for the outdoors, for good mental health. Good stuff.
I am so happy that C. is teaching me how to cook. I saw the extra sauce containers for future meals. If I had been there, leftovers would not have been a thing. ❤️❤️❤️2U
“It’s -10 degrees…it’s fine” Cecilia you’re kind of my hero! I love your channel. You’re pretty inspirational for me! Sending love from Pennsylvania! And hugs for Grimm ❤😊
I watched this video with a very early morning cup of coffee. Everything looks so delicious! Now I'm hungry, time for breakfast. When no one was watching and Grim sniffed that yummy plate of pasta, for a split second, I thought. "Oh, no!" But he didn't touch it! What a good boy. That actually took a lot of will power. I loved this video!

Michigander here, occasionally you’ll see someone in a tee shirt or shorts in 45 degree weather, it could never be me though 😂. Below 45 in a tee shirt is really crazy.
We had 25degrees in NJ last week and some of the middle school boys were wearing shorts. I’m never clear if they are really warm all the time, or just think they’re cool. I did go outside a lot in college in my robe in winter.
@@MerryShaiI’m in Glendale, Arizona. Anything below 60F would be downright freezing to me, lol. It’s 11:15 p.m. here on Sunday and it’s 51 degrees out, 72 was the high today, but I’d prefer more 30’s in the night this time of year and 60’s in the day, just to feel a little like Christmas!

Been going through some health issues recently and I can’t begin to tell you how much joy it brings me to watch your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your life on Svalbard. My daughter and son-in-law live right outside of Oslo. (I’m in the states.) I miss them and your videos bring me closer to them somehow and make me smile❣️💖
Out of 61 years this is my favorite show I can't say anuff I just love every moment I have watched this one 2 times Cecilia Christopher Grimm ❤️ are a blessing and Lynn she's a fantastic person as well.
I was born in 1951 , she was our queen almost all of my life and she was special to almost everyone . The mess we have now would never have happened Wim sure ifvshe was still here RIP
Agree with everything. I really miss her. The Queen was the only person that was constant in my life. From birth to 50. My parents passed before she did. What we have now is an abomination. xx
Your videos are so cozy! My cat, Rainbow, and I are enjoying your videos. Rainbow likes Grimm. Thank you for sharing your lovely view with us each time. The waffles look incredible. I can just smell them from here. Christoffer, you are so talented. From PA USA.
You make the best videos, Cecilia! Thank you for your talent and beautiful personality! Chris and Grim are just perfect in everyway! Cheers and greetings from New Mexico❤
We seem to be having polar night here in the UK. We have had total grey sky's for a few weeks but yesterday we had some sun and was very refreshing to see the moon at night. All the best
Thanks Cecilia for another wonderful video. It’s strange but when I watch my heart feels so..full. That’s the only way I can describe it. The life that you, Christoffer and Grim share is such a beautiful thing for your viewers, including myself, to behold. Merry Christmas to you guys and to everyone watching!!
Ohh that sweet potato soup looked delicious!! When I make mine I put an apple in as well and some curry powder. They add a small sweetness and warmth to it. So delicious. Also a swirl of cream (heavy or sour) right before serving. Like velvet. You did a great job!! I’d be proud to be served that for a warm hearty lunch. As always Christoffer’s baking and cooking skills are on point. I’ve made his bolognese and can say that it’s incredible!
I LOVE Cecilia? (Celia?)’s positive attitude and bright, energetic personality. It just makes my mood better!!! She so easily goes with the flow and is self deprecating. She almost convinces me I could not only survive but thrive in a polar night.
Aww, that adorable ending scene/moment (37:03) literally ❤️🥹 melted my heart! Y'all are just the cutest family of 3! 🙌 Thank you for sharing your lives with US.🎄
I love the way Christopher speaks English. I live in the USA, I speak conversational Spanish as well. I'm impressed with both of yours abilities to speak English so well. I like the differences. It's ok to not be the same. Thank you for sharing your life. I watch every Sunday. Happy Christmas 🎄 ❤
I think I am intrigued because your day could not be more opposite to mine! I live in tropical North Queensland. It is approaching mid summer. The humidity is at 80% and by 11am I have usually been at work already for about 3.5 hours! So jealous of a more laid back winter wonderland

A laid back cooking style and Cecilia not so much!😮 I would try recipes but I cook more like Cecilia 😢

Texan here 🙃 seeing Christopher outside with just a t-shirt on is crazy work 😆 you should see what we look like when the weather gets below 60 F.
Same with us in Southern CA! 😂😂😂
Michigander here, occasionally you’ll see someone in a tee shirt or shorts in 45 degree weather, it could never be me though 😂. Below 45 in a tee shirt is really crazy.
I'm in SoCal and anything below 60°F is considered winter weather 😂
We had 25degrees in NJ last week and some of the middle school boys were wearing shorts. I’m never clear if they are really warm all the time, or just think they’re cool. I did go outside a lot in college in my robe in winter.
@@MerryShaiI’m in Glendale, Arizona. Anything below 60F would be downright freezing to me, lol. It’s 11:15 p.m. here on Sunday and it’s 51 degrees out, 72 was the high today, but I’d prefer more 30’s in the night this time of year and 60’s in the day, just to feel a little like Christmas!

Christoffer has fantastic english! He's clearly talented in many ways but all his dishes are delicious, so glad to have the recipes from your book.
I’m new to your channel and I’m so happy to be here! Being here brings me a sense of peace. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your world. Happy Holidays!!
I never knew I needed "chef plating tongs" until I used chef plating tongs for everything (I see Christoffer agrees 👍).
Omg just read HOW TO WINTER….a must read for those who live in the northern hemisphere and struggle with the season. I live in the northern part of the USA and I keep bragging on this book. It’s been helpful for me
Been going through some health issues recently and I can’t begin to tell you how much joy it brings me to watch your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your life on Svalbard. My daughter and son-in-law live right outside of Oslo. (I’m in the states.) I miss them and your videos bring me closer to them somehow and make me smile❣️💖
I love this type of video!
"A day in the life"
Sending love to you, Cecilia, Christoffer and sweet Grim.
No shame in enjoying meals in the living room. My husband and I do it all the time. Loved this video.
Lunch looks deliscious!! Your home is so cozy❤❤
I love crunchy snow. It makes so happy.
Så avkopplande och mysigt! Det såg så gott ut!! Min vovve springer alltid fram till tv:n när han ser Grim. Kramar från soliga Los Angeles!
Cecilia, I love it when your deck is all squeaky and cold. It’s warming up here in Minnesota and our snow is melting 🙁. Have a beautiful week!
We seem to be having polar night here in the UK. We have had total grey sky's for a few weeks but yesterday we had some sun and was very refreshing to see the moon at night. All the best
On Wednesday I had eaten my tea, brushed my teeth, and got into bed then realised it was only 4.30 😂 I was asleep by 8.30 🇬🇧
Same in the Netherlands just Grey and less Grey 😂
I could listen to cristoffers accent all day. He has a very chill voice too! ❤
so serene. love it
Thanks Cecilia for another wonderful video.
Great episode. Love watching both of you cook but Cecilia I have one word for you - APRON 😂
Hahah omggggg that’s what I need!!
Aww, that adorable ending scene/moment (37:03) literally ❤️🥹 melted my heart! Y'all are just the cutest family of 3! 🙌
Thank you for sharing your lives with US.🎄
Loving to see Polar Night so much! Thanks again for the vid Cecilia! Happy Sunday❤
Grim is a star ! He is so cute wearing sunglasses 👓. Pasta and fudge cake looks delicious.🎉😊
I think I am intrigued because your day could not be more opposite to mine! I live in tropical North Queensland. It is approaching mid summer. The humidity is at 80% and by 11am I have usually been at work already for about 3.5 hours! So jealous of a more laid back winter wonderland
