I’m a recent college grad from the west coast and got a job at Vanderbilt 🙂 you’ve helped soothe my fears of tornados, creepy crawlers i might encounter, and this video has helped a lot in terms of my budgeting!

It went from being the most affordable place to live to now the most expensive. 15 yrs rent never late n I got put out so they can paint and charge $600- $1000 more each month for my apt. Welcome to Nashville where our $150,000 houses are now $600,000!
It can be tough Lisa-- and certainly has increased in the last 7 yrs. That is one huge reason to be very clear on the desired drive time to work, things you do regularly and fine tune your selected communities with that top of mind! What area do you live? And, we must remember , Nashville is now considered a top 50 tier city; no one that I’ve helped in the last seven years coming from other top-tier cities have mentioned at all that they felt dock. Traffic was bad.However, as a native who, in the late 90s, had a 10 minute commute to my main office, the 20-25 minute depending on time of day commute is a big change!!
There are several Internet providers I myself have Xfinity for both Internet and cable. I rarely ever have TV on, however and I am seriously considering getting rid of cable TV. Many people have satellite dish TV prices depend on what you actually do watch my total bill is approximately 240 a month, and over half of that is the television and taxes and fees for the service.
@LivingInNashvilleTennessee1 $240? Wow, if you will convert it to Philippine Peso, that's 13k. I only pay $28 here in the Philippines for my internet and cable. But as you know, the salary range here is not that big compared to your country, which is x4 from what I'm getting here. Thanks for answering 🙂. I got a job interview there in Nashville via zoom, that's why I ask if ever I got the job.

The purchasing taxes in Tennessee are very high! I don't know where she's getting this 7% tax. That would be great if it was true. Fact is it's 9.75% on non food items and 6.75% on food! That is high. You can easily waste $100 to $200 a month in just purchasing taxes. I'm fortunate to live 9 miles from the border of Kentucky where it's 0% on food and 6% on non food items 😊
We all get to decide which we'd rather have; state income taxes or taxes on consumable items and purchases.. I am glad you have chosen what works best for you!
Nope, she'll bring a coke or say is Pepsi ok ( if they only serve Pepsi products. Want a Mtn Dew? I've never seen that served in a restaurant. when I say everything is called a "Coke" it basically means that anytime you may say you want a "pop" "soda" (Any fizzy drink ) we say we want a coke.

@@shockawha9 yes as house prices increase so have rental prices in about the same percentage. As new luxury apt bldgs have come online there are more vacancies and softening prices ( depending on your neighborhood)

I understand. We have gone from a mid tier city to top 50 with the prices and problems that go with the benefits
Nashville is so so congested !! High prices of housing and your commute anywhere will be bumper to bumper

I live in Tennessee but 2 hours away from the big cities because of the high housing cost and severe traffic
and you will certainly be in a beautiful rural area is everywhere in Tennessee. Real areas is pastoral and . gorgeous🎉
There is high and low price's everywhere ! I rent so I'm free to live where I want. TN is a great state not counting the East side.

I wouldn’t say “high security gates” but there are a few “manned and gated “ communities and several gated communities that aren’t guardhouse manned

Rents have increased about $700/month to $1700-$2200 for a 2 bdrm, one bath apt in any neighborhood
