For sermon prep the first commentaries i grab of my shelf are the TNTC, TOTC, and the Life Application Bible Commentaries. These contain a very dense amount of amount information and application. Then for deep dives the PNTC, NICNT AND NICOT. i also enjoy reading commentaries outside of sermon prep for my own edification. Because i teach twice a week, these need to be easy to read, brief and deep. i enjoy the BST and the Christ-Centered Expository series. I also enjoy reading good study Bibles. The secret to getting a ton out of your SB is to look up EVERY cross reference given in the notes. i value the ESV Study Bible, the Life Application Study Bible and the FieBible.
The New International Commentary Series and the New Beacon Bible Commentary are two that I have referenced. I agree with the assessments you made, though.
I got 14 volumes of the NAC for $50 excluding exodus one of the beat reviewed commentaries on exodus, as well as other well reviewed.1/2 Samuel, Daniel, Ezekiel.

Nice man, solid resources. I have really enjoyed the new covenant commentary, like revelation by fee
I regularly use the New Interpreter’s Bible and the Interpretation Commentary sets.
A few newer ones are rising on my list: Zondervan Exegetical, Reformed Exegetical, and the NiCOT/NICNT series.
Maybe you can share some of the distinctives of the sets.. Your description seemed to simply give the range of technical/devotional.
