Public housing redefines as affordable housing

- As public housing authorities have struggled to match shrinking federal support with growing demand for housing assistance, there’s been a dramatic shift to new forms of development and hybrid communities. Affordable housing managers lay out the vision and the rationale for what they describe as a better way forward for those most in need of housing assistance.

I UNDERSTAND WHAT THE HOUSING IS DOING BUT EVERYONE CANNOT LIVE IN PLACES LIKE THIS.
FACTS! The bad apples will bring that area down so fast! Seniors maybe but not section 8!
But some seniors already on section 8
I would really like to see a Habitat approach to rebuilding affordable housing. Residents that are able bodied should be asked to participate with the rebuilding, even if it's simple things like painting and landscaping. People need to feel a sense of responsibility for helping to maintain the property and have a stake and active role in the neighborhoods they live in.
Been said that. They Should've not been able to live in the Projects unless they keep it Clean & almost Crime free. Sm1 in household commits a Crime the whole house getting Kicked out. Every other weekend you hv to help clean the Grounds!!
Well, we need to start teaching life skills, job skills in middle school instead of figuring out ways to create a world where people are totally dependent on the government. It doesn’t work when you put a large group of poor people in one building or one community.
With social insecurity The way it is right now we can't afford to get a one-bedroom one bath to save our lives even if we had to save our lives
So true that's me I get so stressed out can't afford a 1bedroom . I've raised my Children's . Their grown now I'm alone living on SSDI & don't know which way to go nor turn . Their talking but whose going to help US ... 55 age & up
I live in Massachusetts and am on SSDI. I have been homeless for 4 years. I was denied emergency housing because when I got an eviction letter I left. They require require you to be court evicted. I thought I was doing the morally right thing to do. Who do I contact in my state to help me. I have an emotional support animal so I can't go to a shelter. I'm really struggling. Who can help me?
Try a sober house. That type of housing accepts men with SSDI. However idk if most will accept animals. Worth a shot.
Wish you didn't leave. If your rent was paid and you've done no damage, take your day in court. Ppl cheat the kind person because they take it for weakness.
Really try to have the eviction removed. Because you left, the judge did not have you removed. Please try to get it off your record. Keep praying, and blessings will come. ❤️
I would love affordable for who. If somebody can give me a real good answer I would appreciate it
The distinction hasn't been made and applied..There should be affordable housing for low income. There should be affordable housing for middle income..Speaking from my experiences working in public housing and market, 33 years in Metro Atlanta..
ITS SAD. CAUSE I LIVE IN LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA. AN HOLD A FULL TIME JOB WITH A 7 YEAR OLD CHILD. WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. AN CAN NOT GET GET HELP WITH LOW INCOME HOUSING . SO IT LEAVES ME TO RENT A ROOM IN OTHERS HOME . FOR $900 A MONTH. SO HELP FOR LOW INCOME HOUSING FOR ONES DOC READY. BUT STILL. ........
THE WAITING LIST. SMH
Government subsidies or voucher holders have ruined it for ppl like you. It’s unfortunate They destroy where they live
Dang that's so sad , PRAYERS
Reach out to, RENEE GLOVER..She transformed the City of Atlanta Housing Authority in 1994..It was a gamechanger..
Exactly. She started mixed- income communities back in 1994, before the Olympics. That's why it's referred to as the "Atlanta Model." They were the first city to completely demolish all of the housing projects and replace them with mixed income properties.
The bonus is not warehousing low income tenants in a defined area. It also gives property managers tenants who are paying market rates so that they have the income to upkeep the buildings.
@@n7y8c7 I had the pleasure of working on Northside Dr, John Hope Homes / Castleberry Hill in the transformation stages..We would get tour busses from across the USA..HUD Secretary, Henry Cisneros toured also..It was a history making time..
@@n7y8c7 I had the pleasure of working in the management office during the transformation stages on Northside Dr, John Hope Homes now Castleberry Hill..We would get tour busses from other housing authorities..HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros toured also..Atlanta was the gamechanger, Tech wood Homes was the first federally funded public housing community located in Atlanta..Where it started and was completed..
Anytime I hear any company or government officials bring up affordable homes they will not be. They say this to get the funding to only turn around and charge 1000 dallor a mo for a coffin of an apartment or 6 figures plus to own. They not understanding there's people out here that still makes less than 15/hr. Less than 12 hr and less than 10/hr. Get fuqin real!
This is amazing news. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
15 minutes city wake up to the masses
I propose to keep it separate. Pookey and his crew hanging out in the garage throwing trash everywhere…. No thank you.
Facts. As I’ve gotten older. Affordable housing just screams Crime Poor and Babies 👶 🥺
@@NkNk-vg8fc FACTS! I am going through that now with pookey. When I first bought my house it was nice but Katrina hit and pookey moved south.
So I am so sorry 😞 but Im not paying 700,000 for a unit in a building 😢 with section 8 residents! People need training programs on proper etiquette first. Trash throwing loud music coming from units and cars. Weed smoking thru the wall 🙆🏽♀️ simply a miss match for me .
That’s even in expensive communities!
They are not the only ones on section 8 elderly and disabled are on it and they don't do any of that.
I agree with you!
@@pursedelightedSome of them do!
@NotfromDetroit I am glad I don't know any the ones I know very nice apts.and very clean.there are bad apples in every group I guess
You think every body's is taken care of a 16 year old emancipated looking for own place needs a place to live. Wouldn't also make as much. Not everyone comes from supportive Loving families or knowledgeable or silver spoons. We're in a recession as well. Different people different walks of life.
We are all in the same boat, some of us have different paddles..🤔
They have to limit the very low income, sadly, because a lot of them dont take care of the unit and bring crime. Sad but facts.
Why should I pay $1,700+ a month when some baby making machine without any education gets the same thing for free basically? How is that helping me? How does that help them? It doesn’t!
U do no that people on section 8 have to work full time unless disabled right?!! And it isn't paying next to nothing!! I should no. I'm on it . and I pay almost market rate because of my income. Most of us literally only getting a couple hundred off what everyone else pays
@@thetruth5098 Count yourself lucky. Majority of us men receive no assistance.
@@thetruth5098 don’t worry they may have to go on sect 8! Keep on living!
They aren't mixing the elite aristocratics of society with the proletariat class. If you're living in a building with Section 8 renters, then chances are you're not too high income to begin with.
@@TomikaKellyNot true At all…. It’s called Mixed income very few reserved for low income….
Better to pack you in like sardines units lol.
Who makes only $12K a year? Get a real job. These people are just lazy. I don't care to live around them.
Are you saying that disabled and elderly deserve to be homeless. Most.of them get that small amount in income
