It seems Crotons are more likely to have a round full form if they are planted into a bigger container, in my experience.
I often see them in small containers like yours, growing mostly just upward. But I think it can only get so tall before it starts leaning over. Mine is in a large (wider) pot and doing excellent for years. It grows outward and upward and has a lovely, full, bush-like shape. Other than that, I have it in bright sunlight for several hours per day in the window and only water when it gets dry. Very easy to care for!

Mine was attacked by spider mites that came through my screen. It looked totally dead. I cut it back it back to 2 inches of wooden stem. It was barren of leaves.
It stayed like that for over three months. I did not give up. Watered when almost dry. Fed it once. All of a sudden one day three leaves started growing and it’s been growing ever since. Thanks for the advice. I too thought the soil you used is a better mix. I’m about to transplant a new one I recently got. It’s so beautiful but root bound. I love the Croton. Watch your pets carefully. They are poisonous. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I just got myself a pothos and croton mixed hanging potted plant from Lowes. It’s so beautiful and lush! I live in FL. and I decided to place my plant outside on the patio. I have lots of Oak trees to help cover some of that harsh sunlight. I hope this is the ideal place to keep my plant. Sounds like it will do well outside than inside my home. •  3 роки тому +1

@@greenmable475 Oh no, not the mites. They are so annoying and sneaky. You really won't see them until you see that webbing. I had a gorgeous big Croton 'Petra' for YEARS and had no idea of what it needed. Never fertilized or did ANYTHING other than water it. It was near the sliding glass door so it was getting enough light but it was falling over. I had it tied for three or four years and finally said "I need to repot this!!!" I did that last year and it immediately started dropping leaves, until it had almost none left. I was devastated. I moved it upstairs into a room with two big windows and a bunch of T5 lights. It seems like it is putting out some new leaves but it's leggy now... I watched another video and was considering chopping and trying to reroot the stems...

Where I work, we have a huge croton, bushy and healthy, about 4 feet tall. It’s in front of a bright window in a back room, and probably gets ignored most of the time, until someone remembers to water it. Doesn’t belong to anyone. It was probably a gift basket plant at some point. I’m thinking of taking a cutting….though they look like the type of plant that is prone to scale.

I have one that I bought as a tiny mini plant and put it in a glass container, and just forgot about it for a year. It now fills the whole glass container and it is looking very healthy and happy. I haven't even watered it. I honestly don't know what to do about it now, lol.

Hi! I love your channel and content! I was wondering, do you have any croton petras that went into transplant shock and survived… I had to repot the croton we received at my mother in law’s funeral last year on Saturday and by Sunday evening it went into complete shock. All the leaves wilted and and about 6 of them fell off… I am so devastated. Is there any hope to saving it???

I have one that I’m trying to propagate from.. when it grew older the bottom leaves started to point downwards.. the top leaves are upwards like your plants, but the bottom ones are pointing downwards (not droopy type of thing). Also tried to propagate from leaves but wasn’t successful. They become yellow fast.

I recently got a croton but my apartment doesn’t get much light. I’m going to get a grow light to make sure it’s getting what it needs. I hope I can take care of it well enough to keep the foliage colorful.

I have a croton and she is very very happy under her grow light. I have her pretty close to the lamp and I have a terracotta watering globe + terracotta pot because I just couldn’t keep up with her watering needs. She has doubled in size and is doing well!
