Jimi was not just a guitarist, he was a creative artist. The man is a legend for good reason.

Jimi’s greatness isn’t in just his skill, it is his creativity. Jimi played “in the moment” not a bunch of prearranged notes. He was completely abstract and thus it can’t be recreated.

I saw Jimi 56 years ago here in Germany. I went to both of his concerts. It was in a pretty small Hall, me in the first row right in front of the speakers. I was‘nt able to go to school the next day because I could‘nt hear anything anymore. The Ticketprice was 12 DEM= about 19 USD. An unbelievable Experience. Something I will never forget. ❤️your Channel.

I turned 15 in July 1968, so this was right up my street and you are correct to say that this was groundbreaking at that time, along with the likes of Cream. This is one of the handful of songs that summed up that period (1966-69) along with Cream’s ‘I Feel Free’, Sunshine of Your Love’, The Beatles ‘Revolution’ etc. It takes me right back to those summer days in the UK late 1960s. Everyone probably has songs that are evocative of their teenage years when we all are evolving and becoming more aware of music.

What we lost when Jimi Hendrix left us was one of the great song creators. There's a reason his creations have been copied over and over by guitarists. Angel. Castles Made Of Sand. Foxy Lady. Little Wing. Purple Haze. Voodoo Child. The Wind Cries Mary. etc.
There's no telling how many great songs Hendrix would have created. Anyone want to understand what a great song writer he was, check out the studio version Tuck and Patti's Castles Made of Sand/Little Wing. One vocal, one guitar. Hear the lyrical content along with what was created on guitar. He is THE daddy of songwriting through the guitar.

You wanna hear Jimi go off into another dimension? Play either Machine Gun at Fillmore East or Hear my Train a Comin (electric version) off his Blues Album that was performed at Berkeley. Those 2 pieces are a a couple of his many masterpieces. You should be able to do a full reaction to Machine Gun on UA-cam being that many others did already.

It wasnt a big commmercial hit from what my mother told me but he was prolific as a lyricist and musician overall. Jimi wasn’t Richard’s “roadie” - they move equipment n set up the stage. Jimi played guitar for him. Richard’s autobiography has a Jimi quote on the title page that said “I wanted to do with the guitar what Richard did with his voice”.
Hadn’t heard bout firing Jimi. But will look it up.
Both Jimi n Little Richard were fabulous! I’ve the record of them together n on one or two songs u can definitely hear the Jimi who would pop out in a few years!
If u do Richard, do the original recordings on the Specialty label!
As for Watchtower, the verse is interesting. The last verse can be seen as the actual start of the lyric.
    So it’s like a circle.
Dylan is the deepest of all rabbit holes! 👍🏼👍🏼

All Along the Watchtower was highly produced but still a great song. You need to watch his live performances and his ground breaking playing with his teeth and behind his back, the fluidity with which he performs in a unique style that still no one duplicates but SRV is very close. Hendrix is still on the apex of them all even up to today, with regards to rock and rock/blues anyways.

In answer to the banner question - Undoubtedly the GOAT - no one else comes close. I am surprised however about what you said about being blocked - I have seen/heard him play on other reaction channels (Airplay Beats played 'Purple Haze' just a few days ago) so I'm not sure what the problem might be. I've been a fan of Jimi's since my teens (50 years ago) and I'm a little bit proud of the fact that he was embraced and adopted here in the UK after being largely ignored in the States - maybe a case of a prophet not being appreciated in his home town. what makes him special for me is the 'Soul' he brought to the party. his vocal delivery is also unique - I don't know - I can't speak highly enough of him.

He was an all-around legend. You'll see his stage presence, and the word is that he dominated any room he walked into without trying. Other brilliant musicians would come to play with him and still end up being in awe of him. He came to London and jammed with Cream, and Eric Clapton's hands dropped off his guitar and to his sides, and he is said to have lurched off the stage. Fellow musician Chas Chandler found him backstage unable to get a match to the end of his cigarette.

There are plenty who thinks he's the greatest. Just like some think Eddie's the greatest.
Hendrix didn't invent distortion, but he perfected it, and thereby revolutionized the instrument. Just like Eddie didn't invent finger-tapping, but he perfected it, and thereby revolutionized the instrument. Their parts as pioneers are undeniable, but I don't know if I'd even have them in my top 10. But that's a personal opinion, and I couldn't argue with anyone who had them in the top ten, or even at #1.

Hendrix was on a whole other level from ANY other musician at the time, or, imo, ever since. So, gotta explore Jimi TNT. btw!
The Maui concert was made into a movie, RainbowBridge; the whole thing was organized by a pro-drug (TimLearly-aligned group) cult -- the BrotherhoodOfEternalLove -- which was funded by global drug smuggling (afghani primo hashish), and the manufacture&distribution of LSD to save humanity. You won't know the way I feel viewing this until you hear people 40 years from now trying to understand the music and culture that you presently love. I do feel that the young lady's efforts will bring understanding more so than the young man's more clinical approach to analyzing art. She is appropriately considering historical and cultural influences that affected all people of the era. But bottom line is I'm realizing that no matter how much we sat and discussed the era, unless you were living in that time, you can't get the impact he had at that time. As far as being overrated, that's an individual point of view. After all, 30 years ago Michael Jordan was unique. Now because they've seen that model, there are a hundred trying to be the next MJ so what we watched in awe years ago seems ordinary now.

You don't understand they didn't even make a left handed guitar back then so he had to play a right handed guitar upside down ,he also didn't get famous until he moved to England and his carrier only lasted 5 years.

Jimi wasn't Little Richard's roadie, he was his guitarist, but was too flamboyant, wore fancy shirts, put on a show, Richard said, "I'm the only one allowed to be pretty!" or something to that effect.

Jimi is the GOAT - period. He was not allowed to play live in most places in the US as it was unheard of for a black man to front a band with white musicians. He actually went to London and blew minds such as Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Chros Squire, and all of The Beatles.

if you don't like Jimi or feel he's "overrated " that's your personal opinion or taste.
However what is fact and not merely opinion is that Jimi influenced more people on the electric guitar than anyone else ever did and most of your rock guitar "greats and hero's Clapton,Beck, Page Joe Satriani,Steve Vai ,SRV point to Jimi as their main man.
what would SRV, Robin Trower and legions of other guitarist sound like without Hendrix influence?
the equipment Jimi used was literally primitive compared to what we have today ( much of it thanx to him).. ie: there were no locking tremolos and when he played live torturing his strat bending the whammy bar into places no one else dared to go he had balls bigger than anyone before him or since as he would then bend it back in tune on the fly .
Others like Beck and Townsend toyed with feedback before him but Jimi made feedback his bitch keeping it caged until he wanted to use it either to shock the listener, make a bold statement, create music out of it or imitate the sound of whatever he desired.
Almost 60 yrs later Hendrix influence on the electric guitar continues to be enormous and there are 100's of guitar teachers here on YT who give Hendrix lessons, breaking down his unique rhythm playing, lead phrasings .
His songs are covered and played right here on YT by many well known artists .
If he's "overrated " why is it that so many artist of high caliber and skill fall in line to "copy" and admire Jimi through imitation and influence and continue to do so for what has now become decades.
Billy Cox Jimi's bass player said it best-There's only two types of guitarists around today," those who admit being influenced by Jimi Hendrix, and those who try to pretend they aren't.

They put their channel at risk for copyright strikes. We’ve been doing this long enough to know which artist don’t allow their videos or music to be used on UA-cam. So yea, some reactors may get away with it for the time being but it’s not worth losing ur channel for a few views.

He's not overrated at all the reality is when Hendrix performed something like Machine Gun he was like an alchemist on the stage, that really hasn't been replicated to that level IMO because it's not a precise thing it involves spirit, innovation & improvisation.
Precise shredding in metal on the other hand is the most overrated thing in history.

Hendrix taught players how to play Rock guitar. All of them. He was the whole package, tremendous innovator way above the rest, a style that can never be duplicated, a vision at that time that guitar players even to this day are light years behind him. His mind was always moving to the next level no one could ever catch.
There are plenty of great guitar players, but there's only one Jimi Hendrix.
