Usually we play 3 players. The problem we usually have is that our son wins by rushing to get the tableau done first. Somehow he always gets the right cards, has plenty of soil, and there's nothing we can do to slow him down. We were hoping the expansion would have a catch up mechanism included.
Unfortunately the bonus for a full tableau got even better. The one thing that may help though is the other routes got a bit stronger with the new cards, and basically none of the cards have the green action, so that might help you to beat him by focusing on a different path.
If you're trying to build your engine and he's just rushing the tableau completion, you should catch onto that and start running an engine that will give you points when the game is close to ending. The cards he's playing must not be worth much soil or points.
@@jamvng First, my son has played alot of online cardgames like Hearthstone and others so he's much more adept at understanding card mechanics than either me or my husband. In the last 2 games, he's scored over 250 plus points and we're not even close sometimes. He regularly gets the first place vp for fauna and lots of tableau points. Only in one game has he had "bad cards" that I or my husband usually gets. He will often choose actions that will benefit him mostly compared to what we can do so he gets ahead alot.
