Hi Monie 🌞 ! I use Audio Technica .. excellent quality. You did fine in getting the change done. In Rainbows 🌈 an excellent album to test for sound. All I Need & House Of Cards my favorite tracks. Keep the music 🎶 spinning 😎
Thanks David, Yes - the testing album is so key. I forgot to mention that. Ive heard Radioheads album so many times I knew what it was suppose to sound like.
Great video I’m a klutz when it comes to anything like that mines £22 pound needle it just clips In but I still haven’t pulled the trigger I was told by the local shop that I need to align my cartridge using a protractor to get the best results that sounds complicated to me
The website recommends switch out every 2 years, I switched out my project turn table cartridge recently after 3 years cause I accidentally hit it. Pretty sure it would have lasted longer if I didn’t damage it.
Aloha Monica, Awesome Step-by-step demonstration, Also thank you for sharing your difficulties and what you needed to do to overcome them. I'm curious what is your counterweight at 1.7 , 2.0, did you need to change the settings, do you have a scale to weigh it , to see how heavy it is? How did you balance it or was everything much set when you put it on. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Mahalo Ed
Yeah it can get so technical, I’ve seen people have small electronic scale, on Amazon for under $10 I might get to double check my work. Also the turntable recommends 2.0 for the weight. Eventually I’ll change the cartridge on my pro-ject player, I’ll want to be more precise cause it’s so hard to balance that arm.
ok i admit the alignment is super hard and I dont get it but I tried my best to balance the ton arm and prayed it all worked lol . There are some alignment tools that help, like that piece of paper to help you see if its align. Did you get it figured out? There are some good youtube videos that kinda break it down.
I haven’t heard what the others sound like but this stylist was way better than the stock stylist, currently $80. A friend who has the Ortofon 2M Blue prefers that one, which is $230.
Yeah it was hard changing out the cartridge, I think with the right tools it should make it easier. I do enjoy being technical and overcoming challenges. The model of the record player is from RetroLife turntable
Yaay, Monie! You did it! Great demo video!
Thanks for the encouragement😅!

Thank you for sharing. Looks simple once you get through the first time changing the needle.
Yeah, the hard part was just finding the right tools.
Your videos are helpful. 👍👍
You did an excellent job.
Thank you! I feel like I graduated record collecting school and passed the test
You made that look so easy. I have to get a new one also but have been procrastinating due to price. Nice video on how to do this
Its was so nerve racking! Once I started there was no going back haha. I put a cartridge on my Christmas wish list, and then text it to my family. lol

Oh man, I totally get that. I think next time will use a force scale tool, they arent too much on line.
So other youtube videos make this look easy, but I share my struggle trying to change out my record player cartridge. Any tips for me for next time?
This particular stylus is a DJ stylus. I'm not 100% sure this is meant for every day casual listening but there isn't much info out there

Cool, why did you. Uh yet another cartridge. Was the at95 no good?

@@MonieMuse Yeah I used papers and watched some videos. Maybe I should watch them again. :D
@@BadEnglishRecs me too 😄
Since my 95E stylus has worn out I was thinking about getting this one (XP5) would it be a god stylus for casual listening?

Never a good idea to do a cart change with a record still on the platter.
Now I see a Rookie mistake lol what not to do
So you have talent ? was changing the needle hard?. the record case was a Crosley ? you know more than me. about the needle is what i mean.

Great tutorial. Did you have to realign the needle or was it good to go after reattaching the new stylus. Thanks
Thanks, yeah I end up getting a needle weigh device which helped a ton!
