I think Fripp's realized he won't be around forever to manage DGM copyright, and that King Crimson is his legacy to share with younger generations who no longer purchase physical media as often.
He just realised that today, touring doesn't promotes the records, it's records that promote the 21st Century Schizoid Band ft. Robert Fripp tours where tickets are freaking expensive, then you add some merchandising
tf are you talking about they stopped playing in 2021 why are you acting as if he somehow is making money off of live king crimson performances. Also any king crimson formation is king crimson if fripp says so, currently. Even if your nostalgia goggles tell you otherwise.@@Haroun-El-Poussah
I perfectly remember that Saturday in 1995 (I think, maybe my recollection is not so perfect) when I drove to a place in Italy beyond the border, just to buy bootlegs of Sabbath, Stones and similar. Then I saw on the shelf a new official album by King Crimson and almost choked, of course I bought it. “thak!” THRAK was a great album! Likewise this track, unbelievable soundscape, particularly the bass. If I had not written half the story of my life already in this comment, I would say I am speechless.
that's something I remember Bill Bruford talking about in an interview, he said in the THRAK band that he wanted to act more like how Jamie Muir acted in the Larks' band. He said something like he was the chaos factor, I can't remember lol, but he said Pat was playing the more steady beat a lot of the time and he wanted to be a disruptor to that. Super cool approach. Adds a very dynamic element to the music
If I’m being honest I agree that we need a new album but only for the sole reason we didn’t get a proper ending song to their discography Like the power to believe part 4? Really? You can’t end with a track like that The suite is good but as an ending it’s not that great
I miss this drum duo. Seen every incarnation form That early "Discipline" gig at Her Majesty's theater in '80 thru the 50th in Mexico city and Oakland...KC is my Perfect Music
Check out Thrakattack, it's a full alive album of these kind of instrumentals but live. I think there's also a second one which was on a Thrak boxset or something.
Dear mr Fripp, We all appreciate what you're doing; both in the past and in the present...A great way for the youngsters to get to know KC. Music nowadays profoundly sucks. Big fan here. I'm 54. grtz from Belgium
And Techno has simply killed the once blossoming scene in SaarLorLuxBel area at the point even if we want to do something, it ends being screwed whatever the energy, effort and money we put into this.
Tfw I realize I saw them twice on that tour and got to say a few humble words to Fripp/Belew as they came out of soundcheck in Cleveland, and ^THAT^ was almost 30 years ago...
What do I picture myself doing while listening to this music? The malevolent bass line makes me envision a large, relentless machine that wrecks all in its path. Music for a slightly rude mood.
Sometimes i find myself wondering what a second album by the Double Trio would have souded like. Thanks for the unreleased track! Or should i say traKc?
You should check out the 1997 Nashville Rehearsals CD from KCCC. A 2nd album was likely to have a much more jazzy approach and also follow a more whacky riff approach ala Dig Me or ProzaKc Blues. The calm Walking on Air/One Time esc song can be heard developing on the track Sas Woman Jam... which automatically makes it my favorite. I vastly prefer calm Crimson over crazy Crimson.
Great piece of music. Can't believe it never saw the light of day before, should have been included in disc 2 or maybe 6 of the Thrak Box Set (of whom I love the new 2015 Thrak album Remix, disc 5). I had the opportunity to watch KC live on october 2019 and it remains as the best show I've ever seen. I hope I get another chance someday. I long for a new album soon, regardless if it's live or studio.
Unreleased material for sure, but at near 77y old, I doubt that Fripp is willing to put the necessary energy in something like this. RF has always pushed that KC is more a way to do things than his own input... Maybe is it time to introduce some younger people to such a way to do... Have you listened to Maria Barbieri playing Fracture and Larks' Tongues?
Mundy, you have no idea how glad I am this is a Stormy Monday of yours. Like holy shid, sessions from KC V, the THRAK era/double trio... I know those are out there in the caverns of the DGM archives, but the description is on par. I must ask who wrote it; Sid Smith? David Singleton? Point is, the DNA of People being in this makes me ecstatic; that Crimson song is somehow my top favorite song in general. The tonality of everyone, Bobby scaping the sounds (as well as the SUPER HUGE WONDERFUL SOUND he throws in THRAK's title track), Belew going ham on his guitar as always, Bill rollin' the kit, and Pat with the tink a dink sounds I adore, Tony's heavy badass groove, and the wah noises of Trey's stick... I needed this. This is the peak Crimson soup I'll enjoy. And yes Bill, they made the album.
King Crimson Ahh; though to be fair, I do feel it's better to give everyone at DGM some gratitude, cause the content the company brings on any platform is always sure to gracefully unseat my monkey mind. Thank you for responding!
Well put, Jazio. Myself, I'm in a heavenly place after having heard my first new KC tune for several years. And what a tune: a rich mix of sounds in a wonderful intertwining, rhythmic texture, that weaves seamlessly along inside my brain. Bliss. Thank you so much, KC and DGM :-)
Tasty. A bit of Space Invaders Guitar from Belew at 6mins? and lots of other great stuff unfolds throughout. I would rather this had come out instead of the Thrak Tour Improvs thing that did come out. Nice to get it now though. Memories...saw the Double Trio twice, and liked the album. Thank's for sharing. 🎶👌🕉 .
totally. I love THRAK but I feel that those "Radio" interludes are a tad unnecessary. this could've easily taken their place. also "Dinosaur" could've remained a single-only song to make space for this monster of a track.
@@sunsetman22 my problem with Thrak is that I feel like Fripp tends to go on a darker, more serious direction instrumentally, like wanting to go back to the sound of Red after their 80s stuff, but Belew's lyrics and singing are quite goofy (even more than in the 80s), giving the album a certain crisis of direction. In other words, as for making a modern Red, Fripp totally delivers but we just don't get the same level of songwriting as songs like Fallen Angel or Starless, and I feel that really affected their last 3 albums
@@ElizondoAbelardoI disagree... Not that they went in a more Red direction in terms of sounds and simultaneously went even more whacky-Belew with lyrics, but that it feels directionless... The thing is that it isn't (and doesn't have to be) a return to Red form. The album is very cohesive, not directionless. It doesn't even sound that much like Red! In fact, I'd say Red feels pretty different and directionless when listened with the rest of the Larks' era (not a bad thing). Double Trio King Crimson is peak King Crimson to me. The only thing I think feels even a little directionless is the live performances, due to the fact that it's half Discipline era and half Double Trio... I DONT EVEN MIND! Because a lot of Discipline era songs get new bits and changes that make it more distinct from the actual 80's performances of the songs. I'm really pointing to Indiscipline's new focus on Bill and Pat, which would lead to the eventual three drummer focus in Seven Headed Beast Crimson! I adore all eras of King Crimson, unashamedly. Every era of Crimson is the best era, but I definitely think the Double Trio was the best live Crimson ever got (without David Cross and Wetton, atleast.)
THAT...is a keeper, folks!...gettin ' all gnarly, down and dirty😎...it's the embryo of something special, but it needs a little something else, to send it into the stratosphere ⬆️...it's all tension and no release as it is now - too bad nothing more came of this 😕

No. My channel is. Uber-lol.

Going to see them tonight in Cleveland Ohio. I'm in my later 50s it's the first time. Can't wait 😁.
@@Honeymens Tonight? Enjoy!
It feels like 2000's industrial rock/metal like 6 years before the turn of the millenium. Spine-chilling!
More likely 2000's industrial rock/metal sounds like 1994 King Crimson?
excellent. should've made the cut. atmospheric, and full of swagger, too.
I can hear a link between this and the Red-era Crimson. Love them both.
Absolutely Stephen.....Red wrote the textbook for noise merchants like Sonic Youth, Swans etc....
My favorite KCs where the larkstongue/red era and this one (Thrak era)

Hearing this freeform composition makes me believe that KC should had made THRAK a double album.
At 0:14 to 0:25, Bill is making a sound very similar to a radically modified V8 high output engine. I love it!
