Jessica Kellgren-Fozard hi, I absolutely love Christmas 🎄 (obsessed I would say) we had been apart at our each set of parents for Christmas and we came back together for our own mini Christmas and we gave each other our presents, we had done stockings for each other so I was opening mine and I got the sex in the city dvd and some other cute bits and reach down to the bottom excepting a satsuma and pulled out a green leather box and I was like is this what I think it is? He told me to close my eyes and he had got down on one knee and opened the box! Obviously I said yes with lots of happy tears and then we hugged and kissed! We then called family and friends shortly after! It was perfect for me!
We met when I called a local newspaper and he answered the phone and he wrote the story on my sponsored trek in Cambodia for Macmillan! We then kept bumping into each other when I had joined the police! We then became a couple after going to a party and I was dressed as a cheer leader! 😉 been married 7 years this year and together for 10! At 10 years, I want to renew our vowels in Scotland with just our close family! (I’m Scottish on my late Dads side)

I recently blogged about my proposal. My then-boyfriend, now-fiance and almost-husband proposed on my birthday, but I was so caught up in my birthday that I missed all the obvious clues! skippingconvention.com/2017/11/28/birthday-proposal/

My ex boyfriend and his now wife have one if the most fun engagement stories....
One Halloween he set up the camera by the pumpkin they were about to carve. He cut the top and asked her to get a tray or something for all the 'guts'. While she was turned away he hid a film container inside the pumpkin. He asked her to go ahead and scoop out all the guts and she found something lumpy, which she set aside haphazardly. He asked her...what's that? She picked the container up and was puzzled...How could this film container be in the pumpkin? He asked her to open it! She did! For the next few seconds was speechless, then went into hysterics with excitement! He had hidden the ring inside the container!
They have been married a while now, have 3 wonderful, smart children and are living in Vermont USA.

My husband proposed to me in a restaurant called 'That's Amore', and it was so loud in there that I didn't hear him correctly, and thought he said he wanted to break up with me. I ran to the bathroom in tears. When I got back to the table, he said 'Is that no?'. I said 'no, what?, He replied 'I'm trying to ask you to marry me!', and I started to cry again, ran back to the bathroom to blow my nose, ran back to the table and said 'Yes!!!'. The couple next to us were laughing at me. It's been 23 years that we've been together, married since 2012.
    I feel so very lucky!

I was always proposing to my girlfriend but as same sex marriage wasn’t legal in Australia we decided not to get married until it was, fast forward to 2017 and it becomes apparent that it will be legal, and then it suddenly was! The day it became legal I said to my gf, ‘I suppose we should get married now, what do you reckon?’ Ha ha! 9th February was the day, 30 years after we first met, legally married, blissfully happy.❤️

I think I win most unique but understated proposal story ever! Andy and I met in high school and have been together for seven years. We were in town for his cousins wedding so he took me to all of our old favourite spots that day and the last stop was a reptile store ( I am obsessed with animals of all kinds and am working to create an animal education program). We looked at all of the critters on display as the macaw in the window preened in the corner. Then I saw them....small baby crested geckos! We asked the man if we could open the tank in the bottom back corner of the display and he said yes and went to the back with a customer leaving Andy and I alone sitting on the floor with a baby gecko hopping between our hands. Just as I fell in love with this tiny little hopper she wraps herself around my ring finger and decides this is were she belongs. I look up at Andy half jokingly "Is this you proposing?" And with a little grin he says "Brandi will you marry me?" I start smiling like a lunatic and nod yes and at that very moment the baby gecko jumped on to my knee and ran for Andy. So the shop keeper came back in and we bought our Engagement Gecko! Later that night my Future-mother-in-law gave us a heirloom diamond ring and it was the best day! We named our new baby Bean and she's amazing. We are getting married on 10/10/2020 ten years together. Unplanned and it felt right, a tiny moment turned into a moment I will remember for ever, The day We got Engaged ...with a gecko

Our proposal has been the less romantic one in the whole human history. Both in still wearing pijamas and 5 days beard.
Him: "look, I was thinking that could be very good if we got married"
Me: "What? Oh, yeah. It sounds great. Were you thinking a specific date?"
Him: "Yep. Beltane Celebration (1st May) you in red tuxedo with black shirt, me in black tuxedo with white shirt."
Me: "Better I come out to my aunt first. I'll email everyone later"
    Him, shrugging: "Awsome".
In our defense, I can say that we are together since 2006 and we live together since 2008. We consider ourselves already married

    • @Haghenveien
      @Haghenveien 6 років тому +73

Mine was pretty unromantic as well. We were in the car, coming back from a trip to our home town. Two of our friends were sleeping in the back sit. And then he said: "I was thinking we could get married" with the same tone and emotion that most people use to say things like "I was thinking we should buy some milk". I said yes after asking if he was actually proposing and that was it. He didn't even stop in other two hours and only because he wanted to rest and have a snack. Our friends never new what happened. I don't think we even kiss. The funny thing is that very year we had been in Paris and in Tuscany, our home town is in the coast so he could have even chosen a romanting walk on the beach during the previous days , but no he chose the highway. I love my husband, he has plenty of good qualities, but romanticism is not one of them. By the way, we got married last october but we have been together for 17 years.

Not me, but my parents. When my dad proposed to my mom, he drew a comic book about all the adventures they’d had together and what he hoped they would have in the future. He gave it to her while they were out to eat at their favorite restaurant in Memphis, TN (where he was in medical school and she was a nurse) He’s such an introvert I can only imagine how nervous he must have been proposing to my mom, who is a social butterfly and really lovely. They’ve been married for almost 40 years with four children and many ups and downs and illnesses and setbacks, but they still go on date nights and leave each other sweet notes around the house and kiss when they think no one is looking.

My fiance proposed to me in the MOST perfect way. He was visiting me for the weekend and decided we should watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy (my absolute favorite). Well, during the scene where Arwen gives up her immortality in order to be with Aragorn, he pulled out my ring and quoted the movie and I was just happy laugh crying. I couldn't ask for a more personally perfect proposal.

As for how we started dating, we had become friends in an online group, and he sometimes came to visit me. We both had feelings for each other, but I really didn't want to date long distance. So we were in the car together one day (about 4 years ago) and I just turned to him and said "f*** it, let's date." And he replied, "I suppose." And we've been together since

My fiancée and I met playing women’s rugby in college. The year after I graduated (I’m 2 years younger) she suggested we take a trip back to campus and walk around. It was a perfect fall day (my favorite season) and we walked to the rugby pitch and when we got to the exact spot where we first met, she got down on one knee and pulled out the ring! We’re getting married this summer ❤️🏳️‍🌈

My fiance and I met I highschool through mutual friends. The first time I ever spoke with him I immediately fell in love with him. Those blue/green eyes and gigantic blond curly hair and a smile that could stop traffic. How can you not fall in love with that? So eventually we started hanging out more and more, all of our friends were saying: 'oh you really fancy him (and oh you really fancy her to him)', but being insecure teens who never had a relationship before ofcourse we started denying that. Until he started to put his arm around me everytime we sat together. Eventually I was so fed up with mixed signals that I sent him a text asking him what he wanted with me (yes very romantic over here :P). Turns out he liked me, and so did I. And he recently proposed to me in what I feel is the cutest way ever. We were just hanging out at home, watching TV. He went upstairs to get his phone charger (good cover). When he came downstairs he sent me a text saying: 'what do you want with me?' (basically the exact same I asked him before we started dating) and as I looked up to ask him what that text was all about he had the open ring box in his hand. So incredibly emotional I texted back: 'well guess it's official now'. As that is what he said when we first started dating. Pretty silly, but I love it

I’ll share a story of one I was apart of since I’m single. My two best friends are a couple. He asked me to help him plan his proposal to her. We disguised it as my 25th birthday party and made it the theme of our mutual favorite video game (mine and hers to keep up the distraction). It was a costume party and everyone dressed up. The entire backyard was decorated to fit the theme! He started what seemed like a birthday toast and passed out ring pops and then the speech changed direction and he proposed. We even had a speech option poster (it was themed around a Bioware game) that she could choose from. She was completely surprised which was a miracle because she KNOWS when someone is trying to surprise her and he and I also cannot lie to save our lives. They’re fabulous and a wonderful couple!

I'm a lesbian, and I told her that I liked her for the first time, on Valentine's day, I had a bag of little plastic skulls, and I was talking about how I really wanted to give them to a girl that I really liked, and that I was hoping that she would like them, and she was encouraging me to give them to whoever it was when I saw her. And I just said "will you like the skulls then?" and I handed them to her, and we knew that we both liked each other, and we asked each other out the day after her birthday, which was two days after my birthday, and it was amazing, and we're still dating and she calls me Bluebird, and I'm so happy.

My wife and I met online in 2003 and it was definitely one of those “wham” moments. We got thrown out of the restaurant we met up in and ended up sitting in a PC World carpark until 3am planning our future together. Fast forward 3 years and we were now both living and working at home and spending 24/7 together when I looked up and said “do you fancy getting married on our anniversary?” Which Ali replied “yeah, we could do.” and we both went back to work. We’ve now been married 12 years this October and still spend 24/7 together and to this day have never had an argument (touching wood as I write this). We love spending time together, hate being apart (when we have to we spend most of our time texting each other). Are each other’s best friend and definitely soulmates in every way. I never thought it was possible to have a relationship like this and certainly didn’t believe in love in first sight but I guess fate had other ideas. I used to worry about love fading over the years (it happened to my own parents) but so far it hasn’t happened to us. We’re even more in love 15 years down the line than we was when we first met. Sure the love changes, it gets deeper and stronger. We may not be as romantic as we once were, but we still have our moments! I wouldn’t trade what we have for anything in the world, just knowing we complete each other (cheesy I know but I couldn’t think of how else to explain it) is the best feeling in the world. Even if all we are doing is snuggling up on the sofa reading or at the table doing our taxes. It’s the greatest feeling in the world!

    Your story is so sweet!
My husband didn’t say “I love you” until he proposed (he’s very careful about how he uses words). We’d been dating for 2 years, and for Christmas, he gave me a box full of envelopes and a little magnetic advent calendar with 25 tins. Each day of January, I’d open a tin and an envelope. The tin would have one word in it: a quality that he loves about me. The envelopes had little notes talking more about each quality. But when I opened the 25th envelope, it was empty! He claimed he must have just forgotten it, but I was suspicious. We went out to dinner, and when we got home, the apartment was full of lights (candles, string lights, etc.) and the coffee table had a beautiful display on it, including the 25th envelope, no longer empty. The note said that the 25th thing he loved was me! Then he revealed a sign he had made that said “Amy, will you marry me?” The 25th tin held the ring. And, as an extra thoughtful bonus, his brother was hiding in the kitchen to take pictures AND our families were in town to take us out to celebrate!

My husband proposed on Dec. 18th, 2007. He COMPLETELY caught me off guard as he is not someone to you would expect to do anything like this!! Our state capital, Indianapolis, has a fantastic symphony, & the whole month of Dec. they have daily shows with singers, dancers, etc. called “The Yuletide Celebration”. We had made it tradition to go every year and get dressed up, have a fancy dinner beforehand & then off to the theater. The building is beautiful & in the middle is a 3 story atrium with balconies all around and 3 stories of seating so it holds quite a lit of people. In the middle of the atrium, they put up a 3 story Christmas tree decorated beautifully & have a photography company that will take your picture which you can purchase later. At intermission, my then boyfriend suggested we go to the bar and get a drink so we walked into the atrium and he said, “ there is a free photographer, lets get our pic taken 1st”. I had my clutch, & the photographer said to put it between my feet so I didn’t have to hold it. So..I bent down & sat my bag between my feet, & when I stood up he was down on one knee holding the ring out to me. As it was intermission, the audience were all out on the balconies & in the atrium!! I burst into tears & said yes, & the entire theater went nuts!! They were clapping and cheering, someone brought us champagne & best of all the photographer took around 15 pictures during the whole time that I treasure. He said he knew I would NEVER expect him to propose in front of anyone, so he chose to do it in front of about 400 people to catch me off guard. Now, every Dec. 18th, we go to “The Yuletide Celebration” all dressed up and remember that night. Also Jessica, peacocks hold a very special place in our hearts, & we used peacock feathers in all of our wedding flowers & decorations as well as the colors for the bridesmaid dresses, etc. Sorry so long! Hope you liked the story though! Hope you are already having fun in Malaysia!!

My now-husband and I took a trip to Catalina Island for a late his-birthday celebration and valentine's day celebration. Our plan had been to come in on the catamarand, check into our hotel, take a short nap and then hike up a small hill where we were told had a beautiful sunset! Instead we both napped for too long and it was sun down by the time we woke up! We missed sunset! I later learned that he had planned to read a poem and propose up on that hill at sunset! Oops! Instead we wandered around downtown Avalon and got silly drinks and hats at the tiki bar near the shore. Buzzed, we wandered out to a spot near a lovely fountain that overlooked the ocean. He said "Well, I guess now is as good of time as any" and got down on one knee! I was so happy! It was pretty perfect. Maybe not as picturesque as the sunset would have been, but the whole thing was so sweet and silly, it fit us perfectly.

I love your story! Me and my husband met at University, and we actually moved in together after 3 months (would've been faster but I was at home for summer holidays) and then he went to visit Slovakia (my home country) with me for the first time. And I had told him stories of this gorgeous willow tree in the park by the castle in Bratislava that I used to love going to, and we got to the park, sat down, and he handed me a book we had used to exchange notes and letters (there's a much longer story about the book!). In it was a page where he wrote the sweetest thing and the next page said - will you marry me! And I turned around and he had gotten up onto one knee and I tackled him down onto the graas just so happy I couldn't even cry or do anything. He also insists I didn't actually say yes, but I did! And it also turns out he had asked both my parents' permission. He actually asked my dad in a Tesco because he'd only just met him that day and that was the only time I left them alone 🤣 But we got married on May the 4th (be with you) a year and a half later :) It was the most amazing proposal and it was exactly what I'd always said - somewhere public but private, without crowds, a place we could revisit whenever we wanted. I also love seeing you two together, because we're exactly the same - soppy, always together and never bored of each other :) Hope you have a wonderful time in Malaysia and that this story made you smile!

I proposed to my gf 2 years ago! And we're getting married in two months! Our anniversary is on the 27th of April (we will get married on our 9th anniversary yes) so from the 1st of April to the 27th I gave her a photo (or more than one) with a little note with something I love about her. On the 27th we went for dinner and then at home I prepared a little set up with candles and a box that said '27 reasons why I love you' and the last note that was the actual proposal. I also got down on one knee!

We started dating in grade 12 the year was 1992 . We we're married October 30th 1998 we have two teenage daughters and we are still happily married today.

We totally reacted the same way 😂 I started shaking and screaming and crying... And Dan wouldn't hand me the ring because he thought I'd drop it 😂😂😂
Proposal story (abbreviated): Dan and I went to a really nice dinner, then to see The Lion King (play), and then we went to go look at the city lights. While we were looking at the lights and stars, Dan managed to get me to turn around and when I turned back around he was holding the ring in my face and I started screaming 😂 It was hilarious! And perfect 😍

I'm as single as they come, but I love my parent's story. My dad had moved out of state about a month prior to the engagement because of the military. She was in North Dakota, he was in California. He'd call her every weekend, then she'd make it to about Wednesday before she had to call him. During one of his weekend calls, he was apparently sick and just said "so you wanna get married?" To which she replied "you betcha." (I just realized how much better this story sounds when "you betcha" can be said with the appropriate accent...) The were married after only knowing each other for 9 months, and will be celebrating 39 years in March

You two are so cute it’s kind of gross. ❤️ Also, for a story... Not my own, cause I’m aromantic and not into that stuff, but my brother’s. Him and his (at the time) girlfriend (whose name is Jessica, actually) had just moved into an apartment together while they started their Master’s degrees, and decided to get a kitten. She was away the weekend he was able to pick it up, and spent the whole time training it to run to the front door when it opened. So she comes home, and the kitten comes running to her, and tied to its collar is an engagement ring! And I always thought that was so cute. Now they’ve been married like 15 years, have two kids, and, actually, moved to England last year (we’re from the US). And they still have the cat.

Rome is truly so beyond all expectations. I f I could, I would spend a season there...except for all of the stairs to everything and every guest house that we stayed in. Luckily we hired a tour by limo and did not have to wait in line ups It was well worth it. Unfortunately it was not romantic as my partner, Carole, of 34 years had died only 5 months prior to this tour with friends.

My Fiancé and I are both actors, and we met while working a production of Tate’s Lear two years ago. It was love at first sight (for me) and we fell pretty hard for each other. 2 years later to the day we first met, we are back working in the same theatre on another show, and the timing was pretty perfect, so after a show one night, he proposed in front of the whole cast! I said yes and bawled all my make up off. It was great.

I'm from Canada so European holiday is quite a big trip for us. We had our 5 year anniversary October of 2016 and we had booked a trip to Paris. It was my first time to Europe. Our plane landed at noon and we took a train to our Airbnb which was absolutely gorgeous by the way. Because our flight was delayed the person who owned the Airbnb couldn't meet us on time so we went to the cafe on the corner, the most stereotypically Parisian Cafe where I had the best cup of coffee I've ever had in my life. We got into our room and my now-husband said he was going to have a shower. He was rummaging in his bag, I just assumed he was getting his toiletries, he was not! LOL he turned around on one knee and asked me to marry him, of course after 5 years the answer was absolutely! I keep joking that he didn't even let me shower first, he had had that ring for 7 months and he didn't want to wait another minute. We waited till the next day to tell everyone, which is when I realized that he had told basically everyone in our life that he was going to propose LOL there weren't a lot of people to tell, it's so cute, he was so excited. We stayed in our engagement bubble for two whole weeks before we came home. We got married on December 2nd 2017 and took our honeymoon in Bavaria.

You two are so unbearably wonderful and perfect! Most perfect couple award 🏆 💜
I don't have a proposal story (yet) but my girlfriend asked me to be hers a little over 6 years ago! We were driving around running errands for her mom (we'd been friends for about a month and both knew we were interested in each other) when she asked me if I wanted to be like faberry (my absolute OTP) but canon
It was the cutest way she could have said "hey let's be girlfriends" and was just so perfectly her, silly and out of the box.
The story of how we met is actually pretty cute as well, kind of a coffee shop AU. In college I used to wait tables at this small restaurant/cafe on days I didn't have classes and she came in one day with her father. I was her server and thought she was unbelievably pretty; I was still closeted and pretty girls terrified me so I kept stumbling over my words and could barely look at her as I knew I'd be completely red if we made eye contact. At the end of their meal when I went to bring the check, I noticed her messenger bag referenced a video game I had spent the summer obsessed with and decided to be brave and compliment it. She was so excited and finally looked at me and my heart just leapt when we locked eyes. We exchanged contact info, started hanging out a few days later, and were officially dating within a month. It's now been over 6 years and we live together with our 2 cats and we look forward to getting married when it's safe to get our families together.

My fiance and i met while i was in high school and love to hike. One of the first places we went hiking was in the midwest, Wisconsin. We live in Minnesota, so not far away. The day he proposed i had a hunch he was going to do it because it was raining and he wanted to go hiking in the same spot we did the first time. When we got there it had stopped raining but it was muddy. He was walking with his hands in his pockets for 'stability'. Hahah i almost fell in a mud puddle on the trail and when we made it to the fork in the trail he said he wanted to walk up the 60 steps to the overlook. When we finally reached the top he said how much he loved me and said 'you know we've been together over 3 and a half years' i told him 'yeah, i know. I've been here the whole time' (we're goofy that way). We were sitting on the bench at this time and he slid down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I didn't really say 'yes' either. I said of course. He's my best friend. We just got engaged in August of 2017 and are planning our wedding for 2019.

My darling husband and I met in college (university). We had been together for a few years (and had graduated) when he told me about a movie pre-screening the University was holding. We had both been part of the activities board while studying, so this made sense. I invited co-workers, wanting to share the fun. Thank goodness none of them showed.
I headed up to the theater room and was surprised that there was no one else there. Then a movie started playing about the highlights of our dating time and when I turned around he was on one knee with the ring box. I teared up, said yes and kissed him, then we jumped around a bit. (I jump around fairly often when excited).
As we headed back down to the exit, the student running the info desk called out, "Did she say yes?" He held up then ringed finger in answer.
Thanks for your story! I love a happy beginning!

Oooh, I also have our proposal story to share with you! :) Sorry for my not so perfect English, that's clearly not my native language.
I was at home, at my mom's place for the weekend after our 5th anniversary with my boyfriend. I was really sick, wearing a pretty old T-shirt (no bra) and sweatpants (no underwear), I was doing my statistics homework for uni. So I was not in my prettiest moment to be honest. My boyfriend asked me on FB whether to pack me some Hortobágyi húsos palacsinta (pancakes with paprika and chicken - Hungarian dish), which I looove so much. Of couse I said yes, and I was also joking about it being transported via light and opening my windows (an old Hungarian cartoon reference - Mézga Family). This basically means that in that cartoon a family got to get a huge amount of things from the future which were maybe useful for the people from the future, but the family was f.cking up really badly while using them... :D
After some hours he wrote me on FB Messenger again that the pancakes are here, seriously. I was just laughing for a little bit, but after that I realised that maybe I need to go to my room. He was at my window, with a huge bunch of roses AND a box filled with the pancakes I was describing (he was living 90 kms away from me, but on the weekdays we were already living together in the capital city). I didn't even realise that there was a ring box between the roses until he pointed out to me.
I opened the box, smiled, did not say a thing.
He: - Well, one should answer a question which was asked.
Me: - There was no question asked to be answered.
After that, he proposed to me. :)
We also got to ate the pancakes - it will also be a dish on our wedding this year, on our 6th anniversary (13rd of October, 2018).

My wife proposed to me, twice. The first time was at a Pancake Parlour but the second time I got home from work to find petals on the floor that went through to the dinning room where she had a note asking me if I would marry her.
Our wedding was a bit of a surprise... we told everyone we were having a late "engagement" party then we had our celebrant (who I knew from theatre work) claim that the whole thing was called off because of disagreements (this gave us time to change into our wedding clothes)... then the music started and we walked out and had our intimate marriage in front of a handful of friends and family.
    I'm a very lucky chap!

That is so sweet! I love the 'book' story! We were lying on the bed talking about the future, 7 months together, and we had known from a couple of weeks in we wanted to marry but I mentioned I didn't care about a ring I just wanted the life together which was greeted with 'so do you wanna get married or what?' One of those are you asking me moments. I started squealing and said we need a ring 😂 we got a small ring with diamond chips just to show that we were engaged but 14 years later (last month) i was taken in to the jewellers to look at something and the jeweller asked me for my ring and walked out with the most beautiful diamond. I started welling up and was asked would I like to have my ring reset with 'proper' sized diamonds, I was flabbergasted - it was like being proposed to, I was so giddy. Still waiting on my ring coming back and miss it so much. We are now 12 years married and much as it isn't always smooth I would never want to be married to anyone else!

We were at his family’s for Christmas. They have a tradition where they read The Christmas Story. Each person has their line written on a gift tag and placed inside a tiny Christmas stocking. So it goes around the room and each person takes their card out of their stocking and reads their line. When it got to me; I took my card out and it said “ Crystal, will you marry me? I will love you always, Jason”.... I started reading it before I realized what was happening! He was standing right behind me and reached the ring around in front of me and whispered in my ear “ I love you”! I started crying and said yes, he came around in front of me ( I’m sitting on a loveseat beside his sister) bent down in front of me and put the ring on! The whole family knew what was happening. Was the best Christmas ever! Married 8 years been together for 21. ❤️❤️❤️

We're two years apart, and she's still underage, so it's not so serious, more like a question of if she'd consider spending our lives together. She always just smiles and says, "Not yet". She's written down every single time I've done it, and I'm kind of patching them all together into my grand plan for the big, final proposal, the one I hope she'll finally accept

I recently found your videos and as a ex-burlesque dancer, I love your style, hair tips, openness and insight. I am hoping to share my story since you have shared so much of yours.
My fiance started distance running because I wanted to run a half marathon and he agreed to run the other half. During the training he realized how much he loves running and credited me being in his life, with his new found hobby. We finished our race together and he started planning the proposal for the next marathon. Sad to say, I got hurt and had to drop from the next three races. He ended up proposing at the anniversary of our first race. I biked the whole course (I had a hard time even walking) with the ring in my bag. He finished the race and sat on the ground. After catching his breath he rolled up onto a knee and proposed. It might not have been "perfect" by other people's standards. He was sweaty and exhausted, but it was perfect for me. We are due to me Married in May 2020

So, I'm two months late to this party, but I've been binge watching your videos (because you are so adorable and I love your humor so much!) and on a previous video you mentioned being an X-Men/Rogue fan, so.. yeah. here's mine.
My husband and I had been dating for 7 years, which is weird because we knew within 24 hours of knowing each other that we were going to get married. Anyhoo, my 30th birthday was approaching and I am a HUGE super hero fan, particularly X-Men and particularly, particularly Rogue! Super obsessed with her since I was 6 and watched her pull a Sentinel's head off with her bare hands in the 90s cartoon. The obsession is ridiculous.
For my birthday, I wanted to have a super hero themed party at the club we frequent. I special ordered a custom made latex Rogue dress (because, of course I was going to be Rogue. Who else would I be?). I thought my husband would be Optimus Prime because that's his favorite character but he surprised me and actually dressed up like Gambit. (shoulda been a clue). All of our friends came out and my parents showed up (should have been another clue). All night he was talking about the great surprise he had for me. I think he was too excited about it so he slipped up and had to cover it up. He made it seem like there was going to be a "fight" with all the super heroes and super villains there. I figure he had choreographed something to make me feel like a real X-man. (not going to lie, still a little sad there wasn't).
Well, midnight comes around. My favorite song is playing... and someone randomly (and awkwardly) yells "Oh no! It's the X-Men! We gotta fight!" (which is the BEST way to start a super hero fight, in my opinion.)
He turns to me and says "There's too many of them! The only way we'll win is if we do it... together!" and he got on one knee and pulled out the ring and I ugly cried. He never actually asked me to marry him, funny enough. I just sobbed and nodded until he put the ring on me.

You two are adorable. Since, my husband and I are very practical, and he is very aware surprises aren't my favorite, it was more of something we talked about and picked the ring together and everything. We decided to make the official down on one knee moment the announcement to my family. So Christmas eve with my giant extended family all gathered in the living room around the tree he pulled out the ring and got down on one knee. The cool thing about it was he prepossessed with a ring that belonged to my fathers mother, at the house where my mother lived as a child. My parents had gotten married in the back yard so we got engaged less then 50 yards from where my parents got married. We went on to have an amazing fairy tale wedding just over two years ago and are living our happily ever after.

Oh my gosh your story is so beautiful! My husband and I live in different countries and he proposed in the airport on one of my trips to visit him. I got out of customs and walked into the arrivals area and didn't even notice he had a wedding ring balloon at first because I was so excited to see him!! The funny thing is, he didn't actually ask the question because he was so nervous (the airport was filled with people looking at us and cheering). He just got down on one knee and almost put the ring on the wrong finger. Honestly, the goofiness of the moment made it perfect because that's what we love most about each other

    I love your proposal story.
    Here's our story:
My husband and I met on a dating app. He messaged me first. I wasn't going to respond because I was kind of over dating. Later that day, it bothered me that I hadn't responded, so I did. That was a Friday. We went on our first date the following Tuesday. After that date, I told a close friend that I wouldn't say I was going to marry him yet but he was going to be very important in my life. He "proposed" a month later. We were just hanging out watching TV. He goes "do you want to get married?" To which I replied "to you or in general". We called off our engagement at one point but did not break up. We just wanted to work through some issues without the pressure of planning a wedding. Christmas morning in 2014, he hung a new ring on my stocking and asked me again over coffee and cookies. I have yet to get a ring, but my boyfriend and I are basically married (like we've discussed it, it's just not the right time for us). Our first date story is the only strong memory I have. My boyfriend is a large man with long dark hair and a wild beard. He looks like the kind of person you would consider crossing the street when you see, but he's a total sweet heart. When he first took me out it wasn't anything special, just a trip to a mid-level chain restaurant. I didn't think it was a date at first, and figured if I got a big messy burger it'd be my way of defiantly stating it wasn't a date. It was. It definitely was. Our story is nothing grandiose or romantic, but it's fitting for us. We don't even know when exactly we first started dating, but we know it was February. This marks three years of being together and I love my big, hairy man :)

My birthday is on the first of January, so we went out on New Years Eve. Got all fancied up , went out to eat, had a truly splendid evening. Around 11:30 we returned home and as I took care of our dessert my love spread many small white candles and beautifully delicate flowers throughout my room .He is a jazz guitarist , so when I walked in he was playing some a wonderful Brazilian melody . Afterwords he told me about how much he loved me and us etc and proposed! We danced to Bill Evans after I cried a bit . Quite a lovely beginning to 2019

Oh I absolutely adore you two ! 🥰🥰🥰..... I’m SO glad I found your channel !!!! You are just so sweet and loving together! I always feel a sense of calm and happiness when watching your videos ! My husband proposed to me while on a vacation together in Maui, HI . We were watching the sunset at our condo which was located just about 40 feet from the ocean ! Our little lanai (patio) was overlooking the west side of Maui and the island of Molokai was directly in front of us .... and we could just barely see the Island of Lanai as we looked to the South, and in between these two islands would be the most fantastic pink, orange and yellow sunsets every night. We sat at the sea wall one night having a drink before dinner when he popped the question and placed a beautiful yet simple single diamond 💍 ring on my finger ! It was just us, very private and romantic. I remember the trade winds were so warm and balmy. We then went to our favorite restaurant and had the the perfect dinner! Just us two! 🤗🥰💍🌺🌴🌈❤️ 🥂🏝🐠

I know I'm very late to the party but sharing is so fun! we met during my last quarter of school, decided it would be a casual thing with an expiration date because I was leaving for military training (but got sick and had to leave after 5 months), but we kinda accidentally fell in love over the course of the month and decided to just keep up with it while I was away (I wrote to them every single day and copied down excerpts from their letters to carry in my pocket). they let me move into their little basement studio apartment when I had to quit training, no questions asked. I'd always been more interested in marriage than them (my parents had divorced and remarried; theirs have stayed unhappily together), but we'd been working through things in therapy together and one day after an appointment they suddenly ask how I feel about a long engagement.
a month later they came out to me as nonbinary and they were just. so full of happiness and they felt so much more present to me and stuff, I wanted to wait until a day they had class to go meet them under a tree they were fond of but I ended up proposing on our own porch that same weekend because they had just become even more themself and I needed them to know exactly how much of a fan I was. I had a little speech and everything, and they'd already picked out their own ring the week before, although I did fail to say the actual important words when I knelt down XD they didn't actually know why I'd dragged them out to the porch and started asking funny relationship-spanning questions until I pulled out the ring box.
a couple weeks after that we agreed to meet up when I was done with work although they got there way early and wandered the market without me, they said they wanted to go to the aquarium (my favorite place) but it was about to close so we just went to the bookstore instead because I wanted to pick something up anyway. I had told my best friend that morning I kind of hoped they would propose but it would be nice to just get to hang out with them, too, because they'd been busy with school. they started acting very nervous and shifty when we got to the store, and they were clearly up to something but I offered to pretend not to notice and they sheepishly agreed. they had found a book of interesting houses and wanted to show me one, and then they revealed they'd been hiding a ring in the book the whole time XD they didn't say a single word, just knelt down in the bookshop and looked up at me. I'd shown them lots of ideas of rings I like and they picked out a lovely one from the market while they were waiting for me, even when I feel too ill to change out of my pajamas I make sure to put it on every morning.
we've been together almost four years and I still look at them and get kind of kindergarten smitten from time to time, staring and smiling and "hey I like you wow"

My husband I met in a chatroom back in 2009. He was from England and I am from the states (CA to be exact). As he would phrase it, it was love at first Skype! We spent a year and a half Skyping nightly and planning to meet in person. We had decided that I would fly to London for a week and he would introduce me to his family and show me around his hometown of Deanshanger. It was the best week of my life

No story to share, not even the 'how we met' one, since I don't have any. Oh well. I've never had any romantic relationship with anyone. I feel a bit weird, sometimes lonely and sometimes I just don't care. But there's still a hope for me, right? xD

I suffered from social anxiety for some time and didnt think I would ever meet someone. In 2014 I got placed in a therapy group for people with social anxiety. One of the other patients was a girl that only lived 5 minutes away from me. I invited her home one day after a session and we talk for some time. I really liked her and we hung out more and more. Before the 10 weeks of group therapy was over, we had begun hanging out together every sinlge day. We talked about pretty much everything so we knew we both liked girls. I thought I only began having more romantic feelings for her because of that and I didnt want to creep her out, so I kept it to myself. Four moths after we first met however, I couldnt keep it in any longer. I told her how I felt and she said she felt the same way! Nine months after that, we got engaged, and after another year and a half we got married! We have now been together for three years and on the 10th of june this year we have been married for one ❤️

We were 'engaged' before we were engaged, not wanting to have well-intentioned people pull our wedding in a million different directions we started planning it and deciding what we did and didn't really care about before anything was announced.
We're both crafters so he made the ring. I picked out the wood and color of the crushed opal inlay and he turned it on the lathe and it is the prettiest thing in the world to me. He finished the ring while I was working one day and when I got home he got all shy and awkward about it even though we'd literally been planning the wedding for months at this point and he put the ring in a lovely little ring box he found and just...slid it across the desk. It was so adorable and dorky and I just said "of course yes you goof" and kissed him. Love him so much

My mom proposed to my dad because she was getting impatient waiting for him to propose. He said no because he wanted to do it. He asked my Pop Pop for his blessing, I believe, and then he proposed (I believe in a restaurant). They’ve been together almost 30 years.

My husband and I have been married for 3 years this coming August. He is the introvert type, like super introvert. So once I figured out I was going to marry him, I decided that I would propose to HIM!! :) It was super great! I took the night off and I called his boss and asked him to make sure he left by 4. And to please let me know if he left early. His boss was all down, though he didn’t know why, I was afraid maybe he would give something away.
Leading up to 4ish, I had built a blanket fort upstairs, brought up a tv and strung white Christmas lights all through the middle of the blanket fort. I put his favorite comfy clothes at the bottom of the stairs and had a note that said “No real clothes allowed!” I also used caution tape to block off the way to the nerd room (or office) because sometimes he comes home from work and goes straight back to work. It was awesome!
So here I am, cooking dinner and putting some last minute touches on the meal. 4:10 rolls around and I get a text from his boss. Something like, “He won’t leave! I sent my entire team home to get him out and he’s the only one still here!” Poor George, he tried so hard! I was just about to shoot my husband a text to try and get him to head home, and his boss was able to follow up with “ok, he finally left.”
Some backstory: my husband and I are both pretty big nerds. One of our favorite shows is Futurama. For those of you who don’t know, one character is a robot who has a cabinet-like opening in his chest. The robot’s name is Bender. So I bought this like $50 Bender action figure with a function chest cavity. There is a particular episode of the show where Bender steels some jewelry and has it stuck somewhere in his chest cavity. So of course over dinner I put on that episode.
Now my husband is a little oblivious sometimes. So at this point he just thought I was giving him a nice surprise. When the show gets to the part they find out Bender has jewelry in him, I pause it and say something cheesy like, “speaking of Bender and jewelry...” and I pull out the Bender toy still in the box. (But secretly I’ve added the ring). He pulls it out and is all, “This is so cool! Thanks babe!” He’s fiddling with the toy laying on his back in our blanket fort. And goes, “Oh! It opens!?” And opened Bender’s chest to be smacked in the face with a ring. Totally didn’t see it coming even with my sappy-ass comment! :)
I, of course, follow up with the question. “Will you marry me?” And instead of getting a yes, I got a huge smile and a “you proposed to me!”
Needless to say, that was 3 years ago this past April.

My now finance and I had met in college. We have been together for 4 years, and over holiday he proposed on christmas eve which we spent at his parent's house. We had just finished opening gifts and we were all just sitting around on the couch when Mike (my fiancé) announced he had something special to share. I immediatly turn to him and start crying. He pulls out the box with the ring and opens it, and before he even asks me his grandma says, "Well, are you going to say yes?!?", Lol so then he says, "Will you marry me?" And i'm crying and in this high pitched voice say "yes!" He opens the box with the ring, and I say thank you. The most special part about it was the fact that he made not only the box the ring came it, but he also MADE my engagement ring. No, he's not a jeweler, but he is a welder, and just is a super crafty and talented person. :)

For our two year anniversary my fiancé surprised me with a trip to Tahoe in December. It was a beautiful trip spent in a gorgeous cabin in the snow, and we spent days exploring cute mountain towns and eating delicious food. In all honesty, I was suspicious he would propose because he had been asking hinting questions, but I was 100% sure it would be on our actually anniversary. The day before our anniversary we planned a hike. I remember how it was interesting because we were going to go after lunch, but I tried to suggest earlier and he was insistent on a specific time. I didn’t think too much of it and we finally went for our hike. It wasn’t too long and we got to a beautiful peak looking over Lake Tahoe and the snow topped trees and mountains. I was awed and taking photos when he started taking off his hat and jacket and asked me to come over. I did the same and came over, and he said some sweet words before getting on one knee and proposing with the ring. I was in shock - he ended up surprising me completely. I said yes and then after we hugged and kissed he pointed over to some bushes and told me our friends hid and photographed the proposal!! So sweet and thoughtful, he planned for our friends to come up and celebrate with us too ❤️ we get married in 1 month!

I’m a HUGE Disney fan and in 2015 I finally got to take a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando with my (now) husband. We were there for two weeks and I hoped he would propose but nope, nothing. Until two days before we were coming home, when we went to dinner at Be Our Guest, the beauty and the beast themed restaurant. Beauty and the Beast is my favourite movie and fairytale of all time. The restaurant is beautiful and the napkins on the table are folded up into roses. I stepped off to go to the bathroom and when I came back the waitress was taking my order and I glanced at the table whilst I was thinking... and there, tucked into the napkin rose is the ring. I went silent and the waitress asked if I was ok so I just pointed silently at the ring... at this point she freaked out and told my husband off for not giving her a heads up that he was proposing. 😂❤️
We then had a Beauty and the Beast themed wedding before going back to Disney for our honeymoon and revisiting the same restaurant.

Ok, long story! My partner and i have been together since 2005, and three years into our relationship we mutually decided that when gay marriage was legal in Australia, we would be engaged. She didn’t really fancy the idea of being married but for me she’d make an exception. Fast forward to 2017 September, we went on holidays to japan for her birthday, went to a beautiful place, wakakusa mountain in Nara. She woke me up on a sunday at 6:30am without coffee and we tiredly trekked up to the top. What i didnt know was that in her luggage she had smuggled a ring, with the purpose of giving it to me at the top. So, surrounded by chirping cicadas and dragonflies, and a beautiful autumn morning on a mountain my partner brought out a tiny box with a ring that made me burst out in tears. We married 2 weeks ago :)

My husband took me to Paris and proposed ( just before the evening closing) at the top of the Eiffel Tower on Valentine's Day ❤️. He was terrified of the travel up in the lift. It was windy and dark and we were goofy young 'uns. We really enjoyed seeing Paris that weekend, we were also on Radio One's valentines stories that year. 21 years on and life has thrown a lot at us but we are still here. It's not easy, but having love and dedication is vital.

For our anniversary, my now husband had surprised me with a trip to Seattle, which is where we planned to move to. Fast forward a few months and the first day there, he planned the day out so that we went to all these okaces he new I would love. We spent hours at the aquarium and an art museum, and we then went to the Seattle Japanese gardens. We walked together around the lake, and he wanted to take a photo together. He set up his camera to take the picture, we pose together and I wait for the shutter. I get confused, turn around and notice he's on his knee proposing. Turns out he was filming the whole thing instead of taking a picture. I was so happy. We then went to the Space Needle and watched the sun set.

My husband and I decided to get married when we were 16/17, my ring was a pewter ankh (symbol of eternity) and he had a matching one. We'd been going out for 3 months. There wasn't ever a proposal we just knew. We were engaged for 8 years before we got married and have now been together 22 years. ☺️ Because we were just kids I never had a 'proper' engagement ring but I never needed one. Then for our 10th wedding anniversary he surprised me with a visit to our favourite BnB in the middle of nowhere. He 'proposed' to me outside under the most incredible sky and gave me my dream vintage 1950s ring. When I'd stopped crying we opened a bottle of champagne and I said "wouldn't it be amazing if there was a shooting star" and just as the words left my mouth one shot across the sky. 💗

My boyfriend and I met in secondary school and have been together for six years now 😄 When so many people told us we wouldn't last we just let them say what they wanted because we knew we would be together forever as cheesy as that sounds!
I have always loved Disney and getting to go to Disneyland Paris with my boyfriend are some of my most happiest memories. So last August my boyfriend and I went to Disneyland for my birthday and on our first full day we walked up to the top of Spyglass Hill where you can see over the park. We were just taking in the atmosphere and saying how lucky we were to be there with the sun shining and everything and then he pretended to get a drink out of the backpack but it was actually a ring and he got down on one knee and proposed and I reacted just like you Jessica! Crying and shaking and just hugging him without even properly answering 😂 It was so beautiful and perfect 💖
LOVED hearing your engagement story 😊💖

Long post~ My story is kind of unbelievable and other-worldly, but I'm weird as well, so it suits my personality. I think you two can relate to eachother on a soulmate level because you are so closely connected... You know what it's like to have your other half... You know what they're going to say before they say it, and you know how to be 100% yourself, and the best version of yourself, with them in your life.
My soulmate proposed to me with a wrist watch! We met online on Facebook -- he decided to add me because he had a deep feeling that he should do so... I was in his suggested friends even though we had no mutual friends and he had no friends who lived in the same country as me. We spoke for a few months and found that we were so similar to eachother, and I had never thought I would meet somebody that much like me. Not just on materialistic levels like hobbies, personality traits, etc. but on deep consciousness levels, like our ingrained moral compass, our values, our beliefs, our desires... When we first began speaking deeply about ourselves to on another, I was in the middle of a massive spiritual awakening after being an atheist all my life. We connected at an integral moment in both of our lives, as he was about to give up on finding his soulmate after many years of knowing he had one out there somewhere. He told me spiritual things about himself and they all aligned perfectly with the experiences I had been going through which had previously made me feel so lost, alone, and confused. We decided to meet in person the following spring. He flew to me and we rented a suite together! When we were in the suite, a huge spiritual energy came over us and we had our first enlightenments together as one. We were in sort of a trance, and for the first time, I felt time and the entire universe stop, and I saw how our souls had been connected through millions of years. I noticed we could feel eachother on our skin without physically touching eachother. We could hear eachother's voices through energy without speaking out loud. He pulled out a gift and said something to me about us being children together, us being soulmates, and our love reaching eachother always, through time and death. He asked me to be with him forever, and I knew I already had been. The wristwatch was part of a matching set for men and women. His was Jack Skellington and mine was Sally, two characters who are soulmates from the film Nightmare Before Christmas -- childish characters that represent death, and on a watch, represent time. It is childish, but our souls are children, and we love eachother with the pure heartedness and simplicity of a child's love.
My life is so much easier with him in it... I am complete, and now all I need to do is go through the motions of life with him as if it's a movie. We are trying our best to make our place in this world together. For now he doesn't live in my country, but he is trying to move here. We have been together 2 years now and we are still engaged.

My hunny had been away for 3 months (he moved to another state for a new job, and I stayed to finish out the lease on our apartment- long story there.) and when he came back to take me with him, he had set up a little surprise for me. I collect adorable boxes, and coins- so he had bought a little chest and put some gold coins in it, and hid the ring inside. We went to the park (we always went to the park, it's where I fell in love with him.) and sitting by the pond, he handed me this box about the size of my hand and said "Your ticket to Hogwarts is in here" (we'd talked about visiting Hogwarts some day because I'm a total potterhead.) and I laughed, thinking he was being silly like usual, but I opened it and there were a bunch of gold coins, and I chuckled more- but he said to look again... and low-and-behold, there was a ring there. I was so caught off guard, all I could do was meow at him lol. Nearly ruined the moment but hey, a girl can have a blank moment can't she?
While others might not think it's super romantic, it was absolutely adorable, especially given the circumstances at the time. I wouldn't ask for a different scenario. ♥

I don't have a proposal story yet, but my sister and brother and law did something kind of neat. They had dated for 7 to 8 years I think, and they waited so long just for financial reasons. When they were finally ready, he took my sister to a falconry where you can basically let these cool birds take off and land on your arm (with professionals around of course). And my brother in law had this planned for years because the hawk was supposed to represent a bird in the first book series my sister had him read. So the hawk landed on my sister's arm with a ring tied to it (it wasn't the real one because... well the fake one had bird poop on it) and he had to pull the real ring out from his wallet, and get on one knee and everything. He didn't really have a speech planned, so the video of it was a little rambling but it was cute and different

Funnily, when my husband was planning to propose we had initially had plans to go to the beach that day (we live by the ocean), but at the last minute I told him I’d like to go play miniature golf instead. I know I'm very late to comment, but I honestly love sharing how my wife and I got engaged because it shows how oblivious we both can be.
After being friends through her sister for roughly seven years, we'd started joking that we should just get married someday since we're both ace and it would get my family to stop asking about me settling down with a guy. We always laughed about it whenever mom would start nagging, but never thought anything serious about it - until the pandemic hit. I was in Dublin, Ireland for medical school, she was back in our homestate, Missouri. Finals were coming up, and to deal with some of the stress we started messaging in a group chat (her sister was the only other person in the group), joking about getting married. Except this time, within four hours we had everything from a date, dresses, venue, wedding party, and guest list figured out...
Two days later her sister asked if we were engaged, we both realized we'd been separately grinning like idiots anytime we thought about having an actual date, and we mutually agreed that yes, yes we were.
The wedding itself was equal levels of ridiculousness, with her getting a passport the week after the US re-opened the office and flying over to Dublin that next spring so we could elope (I still couldn't leave because of school). We got married May 5, 2021 in an old converted hospital with two other medical students as our witnesses. Truly one of the happiest days of my life. 💖

My husband and I met dancing in college. I was performing in the Nutcracker. His mother was co-producing the show with my dance instructor. They basically set us up; he was my waltzing partner. We spent a year of getting to know each other, doing brunch "dates" and so on... just naturally coming together. We took a giant leap a year and a half into our relationship where we moved to the other side of the country (USA) from where we grew up. Living in the Pacific Northwest, we both enjoy hiking and the outdoors. My husband planned the proposal with a very romantic hike. We reached the summit of the Colorado River Gorge at sunset, and he gave a beautiful speech. We married after 4 years of dating. Here's the funny bit: We planned a wedding (which was extremely stressful) and our families were so involved, like too involved. They kept changing things, or demanding things - we got fed up and two months before the whole thing we called everyone and cancelled it. The same day we cancelled it, we drove to Las Vegas and eloped - just the two of us. The whole wedding that we had planned had turned into something that felt inauthentic to us - we felt it was not representing us or the life we were going to share together. As much as we love our family, we felt that it was better to make the commitment to each other just the two of us. Most of our family was supportive.. and we did go up and celebrate with them later.
I love your story, it's beautiful. And I love your channel. Your love for each other is so pure and sweet!

It was right after a lovely Xmas & we were in bed talking about how happy we were & how well we get along, how easy it was for the three of us to just be ourselves, we don't argue, or fight, it seemed so perfect & we all decided to sleep in it and in the morning we would each write out the perfect gift we each wanted for NEXT Xmas. So we all got up, it was a lovely snowy day, we sat down for breakfast & by the end we all had a folded note that we placed in the center piece & at dinner we would each open them up at the same time.
When dinner came, we all opened up out notes & we had each said we should get married & be together for ever. We all laughed cause it was exactly the same thing and then it kind of hit us, do we reallly mean it & we kind of all said, YEAH!
I said I love you both so much & both Mag & Sarah were saying the same thing to me. (I'm deaf, so I found myself reading them both saying what I was saying aloud) We all laughed & then it was officail, we're going to get married, and WE DID. Although, its not legal for us as a Triad to be married (you can't marry a third person) we did the whole thing anyway, screw the system.
    NEVER been happier.

He's really not one for planning so this meant the world that he went through so much trouble: His parents gave him a ring his dad had had for years to turn into my engagement ring and he got a Daft Punk mask to dress up for a rave we were going to attend for Halloween with those same friends (also the day we met three years before). He had programed led lights to flash in the visor of the mask "will you marry me?" since it'd be too loud at the concert to hear and had one of our friends take pictures when he go down on one knee. I kinda knew it was coming but was still surprised! Everyone around us was congratulating us and took pictures! It was like coming full circle! We met dress up (kick ass and one of the Siamese cats from Lady & the Tramp) and got engaged dressed up (I was the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland)!

I met my husband while we were cleaning stalls in a stable. Yep, scooping poop. I was a young dressage rider doing a placement at the barn where he was a stablehand, he had grown up learning to ride there. Our proposal wasn't extremely cute, we're kind of low-key people, we loved going for drives and so we went on a drive, and he proposed while parked under some street lights with a photo of the ring he had designed from scratch for me. He wanted me to approve the design, and to choose the metal I wanted it out of. He's an engineer, and so having a ring he designed means a lot to me, from building bridges and dams to designing a small little ring. It's also custom made to suit my lifestyle, and so that makes it extremely special to me. My wedding band is custom made as well to fit into my engagement ring like a puzzle piece, so he designed both of them, and it was a really fun experience to do that together.
