Out of all Gundam protagonists, I always liked Amuro the best. Not just because of his skill, which I will admit while being a average at best NewType is the best pilot, but because he is a lot more human and real than the others. That and that he is one of the few who are shown to grow into adulthood.
Amuro Ray is "average at best newtype" are you serious? Did you actually understand the 1979 Gundam TV series at all? We can accuse Amuro Ray of cheating a bit due to having a Gundam and also due to Char Aznable not attempting to kill the Gundam (Char was supposed to capture all the Project V prototypes and also capture the Pegasus Class after given orders and before he knew that the Gundam was equipped with a beam rifle and Lunar Titanium alloy) but after surviving his first encounter with Ramba Rall thanks to the Gundam's tech advantage, Amuro Ray goes on to prove that he is an above "average" pilot by the way he used the GunCannon and GunTank and eventually defeated Ramba Rall's Gouf. Right afterwards Amuro Ray (which you seem a bit clueless about since the 1979 Gundam series has a large scale war scenario where the White Base and Amuro Ray in the Gundam are often alone and under attack by larger numerical forces which despite their tech advantage requires some "above average" skills to overcome) faces off against a horde of Zaku IIs and Goufs which as opposed to the highly skilled veteran ace Ramba Rall, are instead numerically at an advantage because the Goufs carry a shield that can take a direct hit and finally there are the two rounds of battle against the Black Tri Stars Dom pilot team who not only were ace pilots but had stronger and faster MS from a certain perspective against the Gundam... and fighting them and defeating them is the first sign of Amuro Ray being an ace pilot killer. Something that often newbies tend to ignore maybe because the animation art style is not as pretty to look at and they have a hard time appreciating the fine details. Then at the Battle of Odessa, Jaburo and the journey to Side Six and Solomon... technically speaking Amuro was pulling the raging demon rush attack on opponents and nearly killed Char, who had to figure out a way to escape. This is a big difference from the later, newer anime battles of later Gundam series. Zeta Gundam's Amuro situation can be easily explained because the Mark II Gundam was a technologically WEAKER MS than the Rick Dias and that Amuro Ray had been under house arrest and secret surveillance. However due to the politics of Amuro Ray being the son of Tem Ray and being an Earth born elite, that spared him from being used as a lab rat by the Feddies, even if they wanted to do so. As such Amuro was rusty in combat skills... yet CCA is a special theatrical anime film and that film alone depicted both Char and Amuro being far beyond the vast majority of pilots that sat in the cockpit seats of later Gundam and special prototype MS or later and alternate universe series.
I never said he was a weak newtype, but in comparison to others who are featured prominently such as Lalah, Kamille, Four, Haman, Judau, Quess, Banager and more. Both he and Char are weaker newtypes in terms of raw power. But they had more control of their abilities than most. But while newtype abilities help piloting skills, even independent of any newtype abilities Amuro and Char, in my opinion are the best pilots in any timeline. They combine their newtype abilities with their piloting skills and experience rather than solely rely on newtype abilities. Its not that they are weak but other characters throw the average way off. They are essentially the most balanced.
And then you realize that so far there is no actual Newtype who is alive... Every character shown has the "Potential" to be a Newtype but none so far has been an actual Newtype... Doesn't matter if they are Natural or Enhanced Human... Only the dead characters who appear before the "Living" characters are Actual Newtypes...
The gundam shares colors with all three of Amuro's most iconic opponents from the OYW. The blue of ral's gouf, the minor yellows of the black tri star's uniforms and heat swords, and Char's red. When in a vaccum like how you have it here, it shows. Than once he's in the Nu, the only color left other than black and gray is red (ignore the yellow, it can be other things).
Amuro Ray is the ray of amore(means love) that is at one with, as he puts it; "The light within the Human Heart," which is the essence of hope and the place of which possibility itself emerges. All that is possible, comes from that singular point and that's why Lalah was able to see as she stated "Oh Amuro, I can see time itself." Her point was to convey that she is perceiving the full tapestry of spacetime itself, at the moment of her demise. In that very moment; both Lalah and Amuro's concentration gained density that rendered perceptual distortion in which the moment seemed to stretch out into eternity. It implied by the cinematic display that Amuro and Lalah lived a lifetime together upon the very moment of her demise and that's why Amuro was so emotionally distraught~destroyed in a heavy state of depression for 7 years after her death. Going with the notion that after a break-up; recovery takes half the time of the actual relationship(so a 2 year relationship takes one to get over) Amuro and Lalah spent at least 14 years in that frozen moment of time. Can you awaken to the Light within The Human Heart?
Amuro is just plain amazing. Although Kamille's my personal favorite, Amuro does have my favorite Gundam moment (in Char's Counterattack when they're planning to stop Char, and they all stand up with the movie's theme playing in the background).

連邦の機体が一年戦争後に大幅な進化を遂げたのは恐らくアムロのデータを
利用し機体がいい動きしてるのもありますね。
