On these cars, the fuel pump housing developes cracks where it attaches to pump. Its the nipple on the top half of the housing that has the grommet. Any codes? Your issue could be many things. Spark plugs, coil, fuel pump, IPDM, high temp, etc. Check live temps with a scanner. 1.) Stock G35 can run hot and it will bog down when it overheats because the computer will limit performance to keep engine cool. This could be a fan or coolant issues (leak or water pump). 2.) fuel pump can engage, but that isn't the whole story. If there isn't enough pressure, then you will starve the engine of fuel.
I’ve been having a problem where in each cold start my z starts sputtering like it’s not receiving enough fuel. Until the car reaches operating temp it drives perfectly. Could it be a weak fuel pump/dirty fuel filter? Current mileage 113000

If you don’t hear the pump but can hear and feel the relay click then pump is bad if you hear and feel the relay and hear the pump but it sounds not too good relay could be bad or pump as well. A relay can be bad but still work just not right a pump can also be bad and still work just not 100% so it’s hard to figure out I’d say just change the relay first try it out if you still have stalling problem or staring issues I’d next try the fuel filter witch is easy to change it’s usually outside the fuel tank. If non of that works change the pump

@@ryans413 guess what? Turns out it's not the fuel pump! The problem was that the flood clear procedure in the manual was all wrong! I did need the new battery. Got one. But didn't start. So, I was on UA-cam and saw this video on how to properly clear a flood. Did it about 3 times and whalla!! The secret is to hold the gas petal all the way down THEN put the key in the ignition and turn it on. Keep trying for a few seconds. Do again if needed. Then when it's cleared be absolutely sure you do not have your foot on the gas petal when you turn it on. If you're old like me we used to have to do that to start a car. I think I did that and that's why it flooded. Learned my lesson for sure! And learned a ton about the whole fuel and ignition system. Amazing! Thanks for the comment!
My mustang 2013 has been low idles as if it wants to turn off, rough start ups, and it does have 175000 miles tho could it be the fuel pump or the injectors?
It's behind the battery. Yes, the IPDM can be responsible for no start ups because the IPDM is the largest box for all fuses and relays. However, usually you will get electrical issues along with an IPDM problem. Example: Infiniti qx56, Armada and Titans have the notoriously bad IPDM (white box). People have been stranded because of the IPDM. The new version, the black box, fixes starting issues and other electrical issues.
my 06g35 coupe manual does this weird noise and feels like minor shaking with the car key switch position ON !why ?please help.the noise comes from the rear of the car near the exhaust
Yes, the door lock actuator eventually goes out, it is an electric motor after all. Very common. Be thankful you do not have a BMW, on my E46 when the door lock actuator goes out, you are unable to unlock the doors with your fingers like in the G. The lock sucks down into the door and you can't manually unlock the door. The key is not meant to be used on the BMW to unlock the door. So after using it for a very short period the keyhole stripped out in the door. I've been using my key to unlock my G's driver side door for over 5 years now, the keyhole has yet to strip out on a Nissan. BMW it stripped out in less than 6 months of use and then there was no way to lock or unlock the car anymore. I was forced to replace it, the door lock actuators and a new keyhole lock.
Motordyne G35 oh wow that is crazy. Glad I did not get a BMW haha. Thanks for the info really appreciate the reply as well. Ever since I owned my G the only issues I ran into are all electrical. 110K miles and my G is going strong. 😊

I have a problem with my fuel gage I fill my tank up but the hand never goes up to full it stays just right above half way and when my car goes near empty it'll randomly go back up. Do I need a new fuel gage or what is happen?
This is a very common issue, even I have the same problem. I just use my trip meter, because mileage tracking never lies. I've tried cleaning the sending unit and I've replaced my fuel pump, still same issue with the needle reading wrong. Mine says Full and will drop to about half a tank at regular speed like it should. Then out of nowhere, half a tank is at E with the gas light coming on. With mods done to the G and my driving, I get 14-16mpg. I fill up the tank to full every 200 miles or 250 miles.
It’s the sending unit it’s what reads the tank level as the gas goes up or down in the tank the float goes up and down and that sends voltage to the computer the reads that and sends voltage to the gage that displays the level. Sometimes the sending unit sends the wrong voltage and the readings become off

You are my online mechanic. I’m in college & I watch ALL your videos. Thanks
So if u don’t hear no noise coming out the fuel pump when it’s on/acc does that mean the fuel pump is out cuz my 05 g35 coupe won’t start
Surely if you can't hear the pump it won't start at all?
if your half deaf like me you cannot here it at all
I love this guy. What a gangster.
I have an 02 mustang and I can hear the pump whine kinda loud but the car won’t start. The times it would start I’d put it in drive and it jerked and then eventually the engine dies.
What if my fuel pump doesn't work but just from time to time? I mean it works in general but not always.
Is it fuel pump, fuse or idk cables?
Hey I got a q60 in looking for a good aftermarket im looking at rock auto I just was wondering what y’all think it’s a 2014 6mt q60 coupe. What y’all think. Car to me runs just fine but it threw a fuel pump code.
I have a 2012 grand Cherokee lerado 3.6vvt with cluster instrument LCD fading off. Location is Lagos Nigeria.
Can you help in anyway with the replacement LCD
hey, my 2006 350z at 115,xxx miles doesn’t run when idling. The car only stays on when my foot is on the accelerator, problem started after i got a full tank of gas, any tips/suggestions as to what it is? im thinking the tank was overfilled or it may be the fuel pump and or the maf, however i don’t have a check engine light
I have the exact same car. Same year. I’ll be driving and the car will just shut off. Can’t start it again till it’s completely cold. No over heat, if the car is at idle and I squeeze the rad line a little, it bogs down and shuts off. Any idea? Suggestions? My fuel pump is engaging
Rip pnb rock 😞
I hate when cars have all that plastic tacked over everything. Makes it much harder to work on it.
Do you use fuel cleaner such as gumout to your G?
I think the fuel pump noise scared tf outta me the first couple times IRL 🤣😭😭😭
I just put a new fuel pump on there and it's still not turning on
I have a g35 and it’s on limp mod ,can a bad gas pump be the problem
I’ve been having a problem where in each cold start my z starts sputtering like it’s not receiving enough fuel. Until the car reaches operating temp it drives perfectly. Could it be a weak fuel pump/dirty fuel filter? Current mileage 113000
Did you ever fix this?
My 04z cranks but won't start (It starts sometimes and runs great). I can hear the fuel pump, does it mean the fuel pump is good? I have no check engine lights on the dash. I appreciate any help Thanks
anudeep elineni ...if you can hear it 9 times out of 10 it is good. How many miles do you have?
I’m having the same issues with my 04 Z
Hey man what did you do to solve this issue? My G is doing the same thing
@@MA-it3ps check the light on the dash. If its on then car won’t start
@@anudeepelineni6661 Thanks I'll see if its a NATS issue. I'm gonna also whack my starter in the morning to see if its a bad solenoid
So how do you test if it's the pump or relay
wisconsindabber Have someone crank the engine why’ll you put your hand on the fuel pump relay if you feel or hear it click then the relay is good. If non of that works change the pump
thanks for the education
Aloha sir i check my fuses and it all good, i put brand new crank and camshaft sensor and my 350z start and slowly die”have buzzing noise on my fuel pump, no code?? Help please
There isn’t a need to check the fuse unless the car is not starting.
1:52 >>> Ground that wire already so you can watch movies while you drive .
If I fill up my tank with $40 and and have a bery very bad fuel pump would it turn on?
you can hear the fuel pump from inside the car cause thats where its located its a humming noise , this guy cant hear from inside cause all that mumble rap noise, you cannot assume its working because you hear it thats wrong, you need to do fuel pressure test to be sure...BTW you used a screw driver thats a tool the title says no tools your ok for a novice but much to learn you still have
its not inside the car its inside the tank generally
Joe Scheller Yes obviously he means you can hear it sitting in the car
@@ryans413 you missed my point if your almost deaf like i am you cant hear it period
I placed my cell phone under the rear side to record with a audio recording app. I find and observed that my gas tank only makes just one beep after turning the key to on. Is this right? or your video sequenced that you're just replaying from different angle cameras? Thanks
Just one. It's priming the lines. Your fuel pump isn't dead, but it might not be fully operational
@@kyleberndt8315 cool. im currently cleaning my throttle body and MAF sensor. Ill go start browsing online car parts shops after well if i fail with an idle relearn soon. thanks.
where do i find those clips as none of mine are there
If my g35 is sluggish when I step on it is it that my fuel pump is clogged or what can it be
Fuel tank full of rust and fuel pump is dead. Fix is second hand good fuel tank, new fuel pump, clean injectors. Or take fuel tank to professional to get cleaned and relined.
Could be clogged fuel filter this happened to me car work fine but at random time the engine would stall out like it had no fuel. It turned out my fuel filter was clogged and the pump would give out trying to pump gas pass the clogged filter. Changed the filter now pump dosnt cut out anymore runs great
1:01 ; Beside of fuel, air, and sparks to start your car, it also needs "compression and timing" (courtesy of Kris Fix).
Hey man plz help. My car will turn off but most times turn right back on while driving. No engine light either. Would it be fuel pump or camshaft sensor?
Cam shaft
No fucken way I just won the lottery thanks man it was the fuel pump
what symptoms did your car have before you changed it?
MEXECUTIONER the car wasn’t turning over and there was a solid red light on top of the dash
Lol!! He soo silly.. good Job 🎉
What if the FP is in the gas tank? How do you hear that?
I normally hear a slight humming sound.
Hey motorcycle G35, I own a Nissan Skyline 250gt 2004. Lately it has started jerking at 3000rpm and doesn’t go past it and the check engine light is on. No codes on the scan. Any idea what it can be? Thanks
Sounds like its in limp mode or something is up with the transmission. Do you have an automatic transmission. How many miles?
Where would you recommend buying a new fuel pump online? I’m looking for a 2006 g35x automatic sedan version ( if coupe or sedan type matters)
Jeysson Morales amazon or rockauto.com autozone mine was $240 and on Amazon and rockauto it was 40 lol
@@seanwatts392 Not true. You're comparing the whole assembly vs the fuel pump only. Brick stores will always be more expensive because of overhead. Roughly double than rockauto $70-$80 for the fuel pump at a parts store.
Try to get a OEM pump the after market ones are crap AC Delco or Dorman pumps are okay stick to those
What exhaust you runnin?
Cool thanks bro
I'm surprised you didn't also check the fuel pump relay. It often will fail and is easy to replace right at the fuse box. Would love to see a diagnosis for the same problem but looking at the relay.
Just Sam I actually had a bad relay thing is it would work but it was defective and it would cause my fuel pump to cut out resulting in stalling.
My mustang 2013 has been low idles as if it wants to turn off, rough start ups, and it does have 175000 miles tho could it be the fuel pump or the injectors?
is it the same for2000 infinti I30?
How do u find the ipdm module? Could that be another reason why your g35 would not start?
Did you ever have your lock switch not work at all on both sides of the doors? This just happend to me a few days ago and cant figure out why..
My silverado makes that sound and i think my pump is still bad, because it doesnt start and it just wine until i ran the battery down
Hey man great video, I’m having problems with my 6mt 07 g35s (hr) in any gear and neutral when I rev my car to around 4K my car seem to shut off until I let off the gas and everything cuts back on and vdc slip light and w4as lights come on any suggestions?
Also no check engine light, only light code it’s throwing is p2a00 code but that code been on for a while and my car never acted like this till yesterday
Throwing a code for an 02 sensor but hasn’t acted up till now. Those 02 sensors aren’t for looks, you know what do; replace your 02 sensors to fix your problem.
@@MotordyneG35 i fixed it no check engine light for over 300+ miles and it still does this i have videos i could link you
Would it still run with a blown fuse?
No it needs the fuse to regulate pressure
I do have a question, i have an old 1990 volkswagen taro petrol engine. So lately my truck lacks power. I try to drive up a not really steep hill in 4H but my car stalls. It never used to do that.
Side note: Sometimes when i turn off the engine the car still works. 2: and sometimes when i leave the car running in neutral, some times it turns off.3: and sometimes i cant turn on, it has full battery and it cranks so its not a bad starter. If anyone sees this plz help
Hard to hear on inside of car especially if your car makes the ding ding ding when you turn your key
weak a fuse doesnt mean bad fuel pump only mpressure can tell that or it not priming up to begin with much to learn lil one
Hi my g35 dies at idle if it idles for a bit do you know what that could be tnx
my supercharged z at idle my widebands read too lean like 15-17 when driving read like 13-15 i checked for vaccum leaks already i did the idle relearn it seems to work for couple seconds then my car goes lean but theres no check engine light or pending codes idk if could be a bas fuel pump
What exhaust is that
hey Motordyne G35 i have a 2005 nissan altima would this be a sign of a bad fuel pump when i start my car it takes a few min to stat but it starts and runs fine
Most likely weak battery. Your battery is starting to die....
I had my friend to turn the key to see if I hear the humming sound I didn't hear my fuel pump at all it starts up and idles good when I step on the gas pedal the car stalls the fuse is good I can't rev past 2500 RPMs I'm suspecting is fuel pump or a clogged cat what u think

I have the same problem
@@elmerchavez9462 I fix the problem

Motordyne G35 So I have to start tracking my mileage instead of reading the meter. Thank you so much!!!
It’s the sending unit it’s what reads the tank level as the gas goes up or down in the tank the float goes up and down and that sends voltage to the computer the reads that and sends voltage to the gage that displays the level. Sometimes the sending unit sends the wrong voltage and the readings become off
On my g35 when I press on the gas pedal the car stalls especially if is on 3 rpm for awhile...anyone knows the issue??
What if my fuel pump keeps priming
Hopefully someone can help me, my fuel pump won't stop priming on my 2004 350z. Is that a bad ground, bad pump?
fuel pump relay
I have a m45 that’s half ass pressure with no check valve I think it’s a bad fuel pump
God loves you Jesus saves
I just put a new fuel pump in my Infiniti G35 my battery was dead I tried getting a jump to try to use my new fuel pump I just put in it try to crank but won’t go do I need a new battery or a new alternator? But it do the clicking sound when I try to crank it
Check fuses and relay.
Where do you get those gum all weather carpets?
My car don't go up (4000-4500 rpm) is the fuel pump?
I will never buy a car like that. Man, you have to remove the whole engine bay to reach a simple fuse? NOOOOO, even if I have a million dollar
