I believe that is the whole point right there. They are not employed or able to make use of their innovation to contribute to the economy because, well you know.
Bigger than the issue of the ticket prices is the Springbok game only being available to DSTV Premium subscribers. I understand that there are commercial rights deals in place, but it is absurd that the vast majority of South Africans can't watch our national team play unless they go somewhere like a friend's place or a bar, or stream it illegally
The reason Dan is a hit is because he actually does what journalists should do: tell us what happened, and (here is the trick) what it means. 99% of SA journalists just reprint the press release and call it a day.
Perhaps more fan parks could be a option. Many South Africans had no way of watching the game on TV either. We can't all get into a stadium but fan parks would be a vibe too.
Papas is the only person I would vote for in the DA. The recent appointments of young white racists by Steenhuisen is a reason why I will never vote for them. Racial and racist attitudes are still very much prevalent in this country, unfortunately. Black racism and white racism. Cadre deployment and skewed affirmative action are examples of black racism and white racism is just everywhere. Ticket prices were kept high to ensure that it was not a home game for the all blacks 😂
Alot of DA local politicians are criticizing the DA more freely. I hope it results in a change in the party and not cause another breakaway party, because those are never successful
I am sure if one did a deep dive into the party, we may be shocked at how much work and good things ol Zille actually does. Her issue is that she tells it like it is, and south africans love their little ears tickled. Facts are facts. And that is why pappas knows that if you say the same thing in a different language than English, it carries more weight
Great episode Dan once again. For a while now my favorite channel for getting my weekly SA news roundup. Ive said it for so long. With South Africans of all races looking for a viable alternative to the ANC, EFF and MK, the DA has been exceptionally tone deaf. What benefit does the Ramano appoint hold? None!! But its done more damage than good!! Should their PR specialists not have advised them otherwise? Pappas and Hill-Lewis are currently their only saving grace. The DA needs to go look for black talent and this was the perfect opportunity for Steenhuizen. As a POC and marketing specialist, the Agri Industry is one of my portfolios. The industry is in desperate need of transformation. I.often find myself as the only POC around the boardroom table. And its been like that for years. Im glad Pappas is subtly calling the DA out. Unless the DA is truly serious about transforming, they will remain a 20% party (if they are lucky) because ppl like Gayton are showing them up and will soon be eating away at their heals
The ticketing issue is ridiculous. But when you watch the Bulls v Sharks game this afternoon, the stadium is practically empty. And there were some World Cup players on the field. There needs to be a bigger look at the whole attendance issue for all sports. At least from provincial/club level.
Calling an ex-prisoner who has worked hard to rehabilitate himself and become a productive citizen a “jail bird” is messed up. Ridiculous that the leader of a “progressive” party keeps holding Gayton’s past against him. Would Malema also call Mandela a “jail bird”?
We know that the DA doesn't want to be more than a 20% party, Helen Zille said this multiple times. I don't see them growing if they don't embrace transformation policies and change their tone like Pappas said, by the way, they are less likely to.
I have been telling my friends about this it's been 2 years knowing this. I remember very well someone had 3 Sassa card on them. Every month the use the to get money till today. But nothing is been done. It's ANC members mostly. Here at soweto maponya mall and Eldorado those are the one we know about. As I'm saying that we know about but the police and the government of gnu dose not know about this. To all the snakes that voted for anc, you see they not doing anything to fix this, but put the all back to work and help hide their crimes.
I remember helping my grandmother resetting her ssasa card after having money withdrawn from her account , we stay in KZN and money was withdrawn near Capetown.
You should watch a story on The Agenda Network UA-cam channel, an episode titled "How We Stole R 36M In Three Days". That story of post bank is very captivating.
Since it seems this might have not been addressed, i-bhantiti in Zuluish... le-pantiti in seSothoish or seTswana or sePediesh... Slang taken from the word Bandit 😅
I think the ticket issue was inevitable with the springboks being a powerhouse on the world scene. Demand is high to watch the springboks play. I know I cant afford although I'd love to, so I'm kind of okay with it. We can't all go to the stadium. Millions would love to, but unfortunately there's limited space so the price has to go up. It's basic economics. Maybe a ticket lottery at a decent price could help. That's the best idea I can come up with. Despite inflated prices the tickets were sold out and that says a lot. Personally, I usually make a plan to watch whichever way I possibly can - streaming, going to a bar or whatever makes sense at the time.
Vote for Pappas. I found that the EFF calling the man a prisoner quiet ironic because arent the the EFF super proud of being freedom fighters and spending time in jail?
The media is lapping up at this fued between Gayton and Malema. 😅 I commend Gaytons enthusiasm but I hope his commitment to goverment amd his upfront approach is not exploited by forces seeking to create an "us against them agenda" which I unfortunately foresee in the horizon. 😢
The problem with DA is the selectiveness when it comes to defending the constitution of South Africa , I'm to be corrected but I've never heard them speak on affairs of racism, a typical example has anyone said anything about the two females killed and fed to the pigs but yet they up n down with Hlophes case in honor of defending the constitution .
Have they identified those thieves who stole all that SASSA money? If so name and shame! And convict! Dan please follow up on this if possible? Malema is fast losing his standing - frantic to get some attention like most narcissist bullies. He's met his match here lol.
I think this ticket issue ...is how corporations and capitalism can perpetuate racism without intending to do so ......like only the wealthy can go...and due to apartied most wealthy people aren't black , colored and so on ....abs here's the thing no one involved in the tickets is tryna be racist ...it's just an outcome of doing the most profitable thing
That player's need to get paid and it is a lot of money if the tickets are cheap No rugby at all.Stop this racism word.Me can't afford a ticket but doesn't feel bad about it,caused that money i can uses for something else.
@@mothupiboikanyo4921 Why would capitalism care if the ticket is sold to a white or black person? If it is a feature there should be some kind of advantage?
Great show, but your take on the springboks ticketing is really not right and you can probably see in the many comments of people saying so. Going to a live sports game isn't an inherent right, it's a privilege. I agree with the sentiment that the nation should be able to watch the game... on TV. All boks games should be on SABC.
What about the victims that did not receive their monies ... investigations are as we speak still continuing untill this day since 2020 ... people have given up trying to get their monies, only empty promises have made resulting in the victims still not receiving their monies untill now. What recourse should be taken or should they just forget about it.
This is kind of a random question, but talking about accessibility, where only the wealthy can access things like tickets to a Springbok game, what do you think of how public resources like security and passport control stations at the airport, have been privatised for customers of a certain banking product. I get ACSA makes revenue from a concession like that but the whole reason the queue is slow is because some of the resources are set aside for "the haves". Again, a random question I know, but I would love to see your opinion on that.
My G. You must slan that, "send thanks" button that looks like a heart with a dollar sign - weird. But get that toggle on the channel so we can send you ya taxi mfanaka.
We know how popular rugby is with white South Africans, which is basically why ticket prices are crazy because they usually have the money to splash. The springboks is for all south Africans to be able to watch in person : coloureds, Indians, blacks and whites.
@letsgo8814 not not the point 1 if sport is the one thing we can take pride in south africa would it not be in South Africa's best intrest to mix up the population to foster unity? 2 if unity is fostered we are actively breaking down racial barriers that divides our country this is good becuase it makes people feel like they are participating in the country 3 it would foster hope and pride for the future of sa seeing people drink jol and celebrating with eachother connects them with one another people see that these people are like me and they feel connected and have a meaningful relationship with eachother 4 I believe we should have lotteries for tickets start with a small number see what happens include everyone 5 we could also have limit time only seats at an affordable price yes I do think some capitalists will sell their seats but that's the way of the world
Dan Great show. Just a bit of good news can make a big difference to your show. Crime yes, we need to know, and well done on that reporting, but add a touch of class please! GB
Dan, love your show but can't agree on your pricing for the Rugby. I would love to go but can't afford it and I live in George. Subsidies for transport next? Fan parks and access via SABC is more than adequate
I'd say it describes someone who is a convicted felon, rather than someone strictly in the system. Hence Mangope said "le tlo busa ke mapantiti" referring to former political prisoners.
Wouldn't gayton have understood the word that malema said? At the end of the day gayton speaks lots of different languages of our country. Sad the tickets were sold so high, that's also unfair. Many poorer people would love their children to go watch which is unfair
Awe boohoo, only the wealthy got to go and watch the Springboks live, maybe thank the wealthy for paying those prices which make it possible for the event to exist, the rest of us can watch on tv for free thanks to them.
Do I like that the DA has appointed a bitcoin bro (Renaldo) and a far right influencer to their party? No!!! and I will make them hear it. Do I want them to change their fundamental policies? Also no. If people don't want to vote for a party because they "perceive" it as racist I don't really care. I am fine I can live anywhere in the world, they are just hurting themselves.

At least Gayton has paid his dues to society for his crimes by doing time in jail. Can't say the same for Malema and his crimes (VBS to name a few).
And we will never focus on Gyton, his past is his past. Malema is loosing himself and everyone can see it
Thanks Dan 🙏🔥 for some of us who don't have time during the week to watch the news ,this really helps.
