- Today's episode features BTS and my live explanations as we go through 3 out of the 5 looks. Part 2 will feature the other 2 looks. For each look I got a safe shot that would be usable for the model's portfolio and then I switched to do something a bit more artsy fartsy aka Gel Photography. I filtered portions of the session so that the video wouldn't be 8 years long but this is probably my longest video to date. Great video! One question, how do you use that color checker for white balance. I don’t know to use that
Thanks for the feedback! I'm going to make a video on how to use the color checker soon but essentially there are two uses for it - one for getting the white balance before shooting - so you'll take a photo like I did in the video and then in capture one or lightroom - you can use the white balance color picker to choose the 50% grey square. That would give you an almost perfect white balance every time. The most accurate way to use the color checker is to take that same photo, send it over to the calibrite software in which you'd line all of the squares up in their system, that system would create a .icc profile which you could then import into capture one or lightroom, and then assign that to all of your images. I'm leaving out a few steps because it's a lot to type lol but it's extremely accurate and will guarantee that the colors and white balance are accurate to real life.
How did you record your capture one screen in computer? Is it OBS?
I use the built in quicktime app from apple

For the last inspo pic, it look like the used a grid or snoot to light her top half but the actual light shown in image doesnt have one. 😅confused
In the last inspo pic with the model in the black dress there wasn't snoot or grid used - it's an umbrella - are we talking about the same inspiration pic? 🤔 to make sure we're on the same page - can you comment the time stamp?
@@dioburtophoto@34:46. The black dress inspo, ik the light just looks more focused on her face and shoulders like they used a snoot or grid. I know they didnt but it almost seems like it
@@JUNIORSUICIDE99 oh ok - yeah they didn’t use a snoot - it’s just how the light falls out of that specific umbrella - I’d say set up a shoot and test it out in person - it would be a fun exercise in my opinion
