When the crankshaft sensor starts to go bad, it starts showing symptoms when it's cold. This is my own experience. You just can't find that information anywhere. You could easily think that there is a problem with the mixture ratio, although the crankshaft sensor may be the real culprit and may work well in warm weather, but at a certain degree of frost it starts to show symptoms.

Hi Victoria, here is a very useful link with lots of relevant information: www.samarins.com/diagnose/p0341.html It’s worth checking the things in that article but I have also heard of unserviceable crankshaft sensors creating a spurious camshaft senso fault code. As the crank sensor is cheap and easy to replace you might want to put that onto your list of things to check / replace in your fault diagnosis & rectification. As with any fault finding, it’s a good idea to get as much information as you can to use as clues as to what the problem is and then make a list of things to check / replace starting with the easiest, quickest and cheapest things to go through first, before working down the list to the more complicated things. (I have seen people waste a lot of time & money trying to replace expensive components when something as simple as a bad connection or a blown fuse was the culprit). Time spent thinking and writing down possible causes and a priority list of how to go through the fault-finding process is always time well spent. Happy fixing! Chris

Thanks very much!
