    Hey Jay, I'm a helo instructor in the airforce.. and What Koby was doing there when he started the live coaching and said " You played well on soldier last game" was he was trying to make his student receptive to everything he was about to teach him on... If you start it out like " Hey man you sucked, but I'm gonna coach you now on how not to suck" it shuts the student down and closes their mind off from any inputs so now they're just gonna be thinking on how much they sucked and this example too it being live they're just gonna be way more insecure and try to overcompensate which isn't gonna be beneficial to the student. When you coach or instruct you have to focus on the root cause analyses and then work from there rather than the problem.. i.e, they suck

    • @mysteriousmusik
      @mysteriousmusik 5 місяців тому +7

      That is a good point but it just depends on your delivery. Instead of saying "you suck" you should go with "hey man, so I'm sure you know you need some work but I'm going to try to help you get their deal?" You're not lying to him but you're also opening him up to take your feedback. But your point still stands, saying what he said is far better than starting with "yea so you suck kid" 😆

      Real late reply, but this exactly. I was a tutor years ago and one of the most important tools we were taught about while I was training was the compliment sandwich. You sandwich the constructive criticism between two compliments, ie: what they did well. Most people see way better results when you start and finish your teaching with a positive. If you're just negative throughout, the student will be way less receptive to everything you're trying to teach.

    As a Hanzo 1 trick, I would say he has not so bad positionin for a bronze, but stays in one place for too long, and just gets picked off. Also, since he's bronze, as expected he would be playing the "spamzo" kinda playstyle, and saving his ult for a BIG moment, instead of using to block the way and picking the rest of them off kinda thing. Overall, he shouldnt be bronze, maybe silver, low gold, but he's a good player, we gotta give him credit

      @nousername_david2369 Рік тому +3

  • @NemisisRecords
    @NemisisRecords Рік тому +156

    I think this is the perfect depiction of someone belonging in their rank. He does well in his rank because that's where he belongs. Put him anywhere against players who have slightly more awareness and ability to avoid Hanzo angles and shots? He can't get kills and his damage numbers are from spamming body shots. Every hanzo player knows how easy it is to farm damage on him, don't let it go to your head.
    He has potential considering he sounds pretty young and willing to learn, but he needs to lose the ego. He thinks he's so good because of inflated stats in bronze game, but never climbs? That's delusion. That's stat padding. It's always been the biggest noob trap in OW. Stats don't win games alone! And I hope he learned that. Hopefully he has another redemption video sometime down the line after he gets better!

    • @cagxplays9602
      @cagxplays9602 11 місяців тому +18

      I think he could hit at least silver because he has some basic positioning awareness, but he has no aim/prediction capabilities at all, he just spams in a general direction and hopes it hits. This guy gets 1 headshot every 5 minutes and probably thinks it was on purpose.

    • @deucesbye
      @deucesbye 6 місяців тому +5

      Very well said as someone who was top 500 in OW you have the mindset of a great player. Gold damage and big numbers dont matter if you’re not making plays or gaining value from it. Think his biggest issue is positioning and ult management, there were a lot of times he would just peek the same angle for 2-3 minutes and eventually get picked because of it. Think he holds onto his ult to look for huge 4 piece or team kill highlight plays instead of using them as utility to separate enemies and create plays. Like you said though he has the desire to learn and improve which is probably the most important factor when it comes to climbing even over skill. You cannot teach the desire and will to get better.

      fr, in the first round in a king of the hill game, our team got rolled. me and moira had 1 elim, everyone else 0. but the next two rounds, the enemy team kept screwing up and i got easy picks, left the game with 35-2. so stats dont matter if it's not the end of the game, and they don't even matter THAT much after the game ends. ofc it does matter if your moira has less than 1k heals the whole game (i genuinely had that happen but they were so good at dps we won anyway lmfao, the metal rank curse)
      but i remember this tank flaming me like "2k damage only?" and i just said "widow's a oneshot hero so she doesn't do a lot of damage"

Some work on his aim and he'd be able to climb to high silver, more work on his ult usage and he'll do well in gold. I know a lot of players think Hanzo is only good for spamming sightlines and just doing that alone will let you climb but that ain't it. There were so many opportunities where my Hanzo instincts kicked in and screamed, "Climb to that high ground next to you," "'Go for a flank and get one or two picks in their backline," and "Take your time for some shots instead of revealing your new position."
    From what little he has shown on Soldier, he definitely needs to work on his tracking aim, and while at it, he should at least try to aim for the head. It seems to me like an "aim for the target, if I hit the head, it's a bonus" playstyle

      agreed fr, he had so many chances to use his ult to get a kill or two or even get them to separate and have his team pick off the ones that were separated. Also him spamming his arrows definitely didn't help the team. A lot of luck with those headshots, but him not being too aggro and positioning himself behind his team is good but other than that he has a lot of room for improvement.

      Perhaps (and that’s a big perhaps) this spam damage style hanzo would have worked in ow1 where the pace is not as fast. But in ow2? No way! The pace of the game has inevitably sped up bc of 5v5, your gamesense has to be a lot better and refined to climb. You gotta make split second decisions much more often.
      Ultimates are also less flashy in usage. The days of ‘team wipe grav dragon’ is really over. If you can get one or two picks using your ultimate, that’s a game changer.
      I use controller to play on pc (so no aim assist) and play mercy/LW/Ana/moira (less ana recently as no aim assist + increased forced duels in ow2 makes it hard, but I did get to 3200 on an Ana only acc on console in ow1) so basically my aim is actual dogshit but I still got gold on dps just via gamesense. Is it easier to have good aim to climb? Yea but you definitely won’t get far without gamesense, as proven by the cheater vods.

    The thing I see the most from this guy is that there's no consequences for the enemy team any time he does anything well. If he gets a kill or does a lot of damage he sits back and waits for someone else to capitalize. If they don't or no one is around, he basically just gives ult charge to the enemy supports for the free healing cause they're at no risk. He doesn't contribute nearly as much as he thinks he does.

    I am stuck in the same dilemma, I don’t know where I get these players from, they start and quit the game in the first minute if things doesn’t go well for them, they don’t even try or they just hide somewhere in the corner and I am usually all by myself fighting alone. I don’t quit any games until or unless if it’s a server or network issue, if I am the only one left in the game because these players give up so fast I still try my best and it hurts my record every time because of these players who just don’t care and it’s frustrating. I should’ve been in the Gold long time ago but it sucks to be stuck with the bad players.

    If someone is coaching you, a good coach does need to be realistic but also tactful. You need to not only speak the truth an deliver sound advice in a way that’s digestible for the person but also deliver it in a way it’ll be best received. Sayin you’re dog shit probably isn’t the best phrasin for most people.
    This is debatable cuz some folks will say “I’m givin the info if he gets butthurt an doesn’t listen that’s on them” an that isn’t wrong but imo a good coach wants to do all they can to make sure the information is received the best way possible. It’s not the same as coddling or sugar coating.
    Sorry I wrote so much tho. This is just my take as an educator.
