this is the top notch of the instrumental jazz/fusion metal. i feel like in heaven whenever i listen to this track. tymon, you are an amazing guitarist. cheers from istanbul.
They didn't break up- they're growing musically. They're currently working on album number two of Our Oceans which will be heavy like Exivious with Tymon's vocals. Win/win!
After I saw Robin doing a bass playtrough of Deeply Woven, the only thing I've been wanting from you, guys, was to see another of you doing a playthrough of this amazing song, thank you! The bad thing is... now I want more! D:
Tymon, it would be so amazing if you uploaded more guitar tip videos or even better, a TAB book!! That would complete my guitar journey haha All of the songs you guys produce are just mind-blowingly amazing.
The original is a sax solo by the amazing Jonas Knutsson. I thought it would be fun to try and re-create that vibe a bit by using my old Roland VG-88 guitar synth.
Hmm I never really noticed that before, cool! Apparently I can keep it kind of floating in my hand while still being able to pick. I have a very loose grip though, I just tighten my grip when I actually use it.
For me I find it very awkward to alternate pick while holding the bar in the same position you do. Do you think it's something that depends on your guitar's shape/placement of the whammy and bridge, or is it something that you get comfortable with over time as you practice technique? Somewhat related: did you have to fiddle with your whammy bar's position until you found something you were comfortable with for this style of picking or did it just "fall into place" when you got your guitar?
Not sure. I don't have the Parker from the vid anymore, but I do it on my Steinbergers as well. I guess it just slipped in there without consciously training it.
You guys have quite a collection of these playthroughs with new improvised solos now... you *could* maybe do an iTunes/digital only release of the audio tracks at very low cost. Just sayin' :P
It's nothing special really. Drive (tube drv 3 knob) > Fender amp (vibro model I believe) > cab (v30s with 57 and r121 mic) > EQ (boost some 800Hz, for that Holdsworth woodiness) > basic delay and reverb.
+Exivious thanks for the answer. At least i made my own lead sound for my band "Promenade". At september we will realease our first album "Noi al dir di noi..." with the italian label "Altrock-Fading Records" i hope you will be able to listen and let me know what you think about it... :D
does that steinberger have a synth pickup on there or is that just how those guitars sound? on this song and one other (I'm drawing a blank on the name), your solos sound like some thing I'd hear chick corea play with RTF.
i am (not so successfully) trying to figure out which scales are used for the solo parts. the chords are mostly from the C major / A minor, right? But the solos sounds far too jazzy to be diatonic^^.. hmm, would appreciate some help very much :) best greetings
Here's my personal chart for it. intro Abmaj7#11 (Ab lydian / C pentatonic) Fmaj9#11 (F lydian / A pentatonic) Abmaj7#11 (Ab lydian / C pentatonic) Cmaj add#11 (C lydian / E pentatonic / G melodic minor) Am maj7 (A melodic minor) G#7#5#9 (G# altered dominant) Cmaj13 (C lydian / E & B pentatonic) Emaj11 (E mixolydian b6 / E aug)
I'm just not sure why one would change the notes and phrases in the solo that on the record was right on the money? The variation didn't really do it for me. Great playing nonetheless x
I wasn't privy to the fact that the original solo was improv. My bad. 'It's called improvisation' is a little moronic to say when the purpose of a 'play through' is to mimic exactly what was played on a record? No?
Alexander Siva It also just says Tymon is "playing" the song. He wrote it, he can perform it however he wants. Wouldn't you be bored if you had to play your own improvisations the same way every time? There's no jazz in that :)
Beautiful
the amazing saxophone guitar
guitarDouchebaggery MI CONSULTA USA ALGUN EFECTO ? O procesador ? Suena como allan hollsworth me encanta ese sonido
guitarDouchebaggery saludos desde chile 🇨🇱 👍🏻🎸🎼

@@IconoclastMessenger Our Oceans is good, but it ended up quite different.
@@justsomerandomguyman Thanks for the info! I love Tymon's guitar playing, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Robin's bass playing! I needed more in my life!
This song still gives me chills man. God.

We're working on a website that will offer all kinds of Exivious related video content. In time, we'll cover explanations of all songs.
:D
So excited! You guys have really inspired me to get better at my guitar. Thanks for all you do! \M/
+Exivious that would be so great ! Found out about you a few weeks ago, I'm very interested in your rythm parts !
i really like the time signature of the main riff! It sound terribly great !
4/4 time signatures do sound great yeah ;) And thanks!
When the vinyls arrive that's it. I can die.
I Love this song.
Masterful
Ah the good old beautiful steiny!
Oh sweet mother. That's gorgeous.
This is so f*ing awesome
These figures are fucking amazing.
Holy hell, up until I saw this playthrough, I honestly thought that the solo at the end was a saxophone. Great stuff =)

@@TymonK Now we know!
if anyone is wondering, im pretty sure the main riff consists of sus2 also known as add9 chords on the low E
Parkers are awesome
I realize it may be asking for a lot, but having tabs for some of your stuff would be amazing. I'd pay good money for that.
Magistral!!
einer meiner Lieblingsgitarristen, "real Musik"
this shit never gets old!!!
Fantastic! Just doesn't look right with a head stock. Even if Parker is still an odd ball guitar! Love the videos.
Jesus, Tymon! You are a god among men! Robbin is fucking amazing, too!
... waiting for 'Ripple' s video since I was born :)
Heerlijk liedje. Kippenvel hoor.
echt belachelijk goed. treden jullie een keer in amsterdam op?
In music, everything has been said/played
Sad reality
oh my christ this is off the charts!!! That fucking Parker Fly is FLYING. Came to this through Egon Bacon on the Filmora website!!!!! WTF
His hands are perfect
Fuck those are some cray finger stretches in the chords. God a lesson on this from Tymon would be amazing!
perfect !!
How do you play so easily with the whammy bar in between your fingers? (specifically your index and middle fingers like around 2:40 and prior)
Hmm I never really noticed that before, cool! Apparently I can keep it kind of floating in my hand while still being able to pick. I have a very loose grip though, I just tighten my grip when I actually use it.

wonderful! very good!....Thumb Over?
hi,
I would like to know what colour did you use or what musical range ?
thank you for your answer
Hey Tymon! Could you share your wonderful lead sound for Fractal Axe-FX II XL?? :)
It's nothing special really. Drive (tube drv 3 knob) > Fender amp (vibro model I believe) > cab (v30s with 57 and r121 mic) > EQ (boost some 800Hz, for that Holdsworth woodiness) > basic delay and reverb.

Yep, all Axe-FX
does that steinberger have a synth pickup on there or is that just how those guitars sound? on this song and one other (I'm drawing a blank on the name), your solos sound like some thing I'd hear chick corea play with RTF.
Cool, that's what I was thinking. Thanks for getting back to me, I absolutely love your music.
does the Parker guitar have wider string spacing or am i just seeing things?
It did yeah, took me some time to get used to.
deeply WOWven
Wow
love it, you still using the euro red for your hi gain tones?
Not sure what I used there, it might have been the Friedman model. And the lead is one of the Fender models with a drive in front.
great solo (like Chris Poland him self)
This guitar has a Carbon Glass Epoxy fingerboard (Parker´s web).
This fretboard is close to rosewood, maple or ebony?
It's as smooth as it gets, smoother even than ebony.
+Exivious Oh, thank you. I like your music a lot. :)
Also, I like your tone and your Steinbergers. xD
OfArgento have you heard of Exivious before?
m2350 No but this is cool
The guitar at 4:46 it's a Carvin HH2, right?
carvin has a different body shape. this one looks like a steinberger.
ya sure nigga?
Matías De Luca look at this nigga pictures1.kyozou.com/pictures/_18/17332/17331859.jpg
He owns a couple steinbergers at least and I'm betting that was one of them
Thanks hommies!

Tymon... please.... teach me play the guitar!!!!!!!!!!!
I teach through skype, if you want to have some lessons. Contact me through facebook if interested.

I'm just not sure why one would change the notes and phrases in the solo that on the record was right on the money? The variation didn't really do it for me. Great playing nonetheless x
Because the one on the record was improvised as well.
It's called Improvisation.
I wasn't privy to the fact that the original solo was improv. My bad. 'It's called improvisation' is a little moronic to say when the purpose of a 'play through' is to mimic exactly what was played on a record? No?
Alexander Siva Your understanding of what a playthrough is and can be is limited. Widen your peripherals.
Alexander Siva It also just says Tymon is "playing" the song. He wrote it, he can perform it however he wants. Wouldn't you be bored if you had to play your own improvisations the same way every time? There's no jazz in that :)
;)
I don't even play guitar.
What the fuck even are these chords.
Another imitator of Allan Holdsworth. The sound, the style, te guitar and the effect. But, Allan there is only one.
This is way more metal though
UltimateJgx Shut up! A real holdsworth lover would not say something so stupid!!!
