We heard Hays warming up yesterday at BOA San Antonio and HOLY CRAP! The saxophone solo + the band is AMAZING!! Like all of our jaws were dropped and we were in awe. Truly an amazing band. - A WestWood band kid
This performance was good granted but I still have a hard time seeing this performance getting 2nd at Area losing only to Hendrickson. Maybe it’s just the theme that’s a little strange.
all the people in this band program work super hard the main reason we got second is because we are very strong musically and we are at the same level of march as them hendrickson. yes hendrickson did deserve 1st place something that they have a one up on us is choreo they 100% sell they’re choreo very well. one of the reasons we may of place so high was because this was our first year doing 5a since we dropped down. but also let’s keep in mind that one of the judges did give them a prefect score all the way across before the last band preformed which helped them quite a bit but they did deserve the first place stop nonetheless.
@@missmommymilf7154 i go to pflugerville hs which is in the same district as Hendrickson, and while their musicality is good, the band directors sat behind me while i was recording and I could hear them talking over a mic telling the person running the sound system to turn up specific instruments up or down. you may notice that they have an extremely wide dynamic range which wasn't seen earlier in the marching season. i largely attribute this to their micing of specific band members. while they do have good choreo, they are largely a march, stop, and play band so they use choreo to cover that up. Hendrickson's generally always been like that, even in their best years. you guys deserved your placement or even better. I dont think any high school should be receiving a perfect score from a judge as there are always things to improve on. also, keep in mind that hendrickson’s band has both sons of the fine arts director of our district which could possibly give the school more attention/money compared to others.
