Love the herald and hate how pointless it is. Data running should be so easy to implement. Set a "hauling" type data mission where player is instructed to go to comm array and insert the data card into the computer. After the "press continue button" mini game is completed, the data transfer is begun to the ship. When complete, the player is instructed where to take data. Land at that LZ and sell data at the admin office. That would make the ship usable and really not take much effort for coding. Same effort for SF, allow it to sell Hydrogen Fuel and Quantum Fuel in bulk from Stanton to Pyro. At least will give it some value until they can figure out how to actually make it a useful ship.
Agree. I played also Space Engineers and Empyrion. I was able to create my own ships with relatively detailed interriors, but still it's not the same level of details and interactions like in SC.

Similarly, does pressing "I" for inventory not work anymore? I know they are trying to get away from that, but I would think they'd still have it for the ships they haven't done that pass on yet. 7:05 CIG really needs to work on interior lighting adding some ambient until they can figure out how to properly do lighting. You have floor to ceiling super bright lights and yet somehow it is dark on the walls. The light is 6ft away from the wall and shining straight at it and somehow the wall is dark black shadow. So many ships are like this. Why spend so much time adding all the detail and then make it so dark in ships?
Interiors are really important to me aswell,. and I get so dissapointed when some ships have interiors but missing "important" features, such as missing toilet and/or food/kitchen area.
This sentiment seems common among many star citizen players - I would be interested to know what motivates this passion for interior design. I hear phrases like "daily driver" and "ship you can live in", but I don't really understand the appeal. Is this an important roleplaying aspect? Something to do with imagining yourself as a crewmember of the ship inside the game, like a star citizen isekai story? Is it because you see yourself spending large quantities of time in the game, and want your surrounding environment to feel comfortable and homey while flying your ship? Perhaps it is simply because I tend to value function over form, but if I was able to personalize/modify the design of the ships I like to fly, I would remove all of the interior features which seem to serve very little purposes, and replace them with more empty space for storing vehicles or cargo, or put in bigger fuel tanks so I could fly further, or bigger ship systems to improve my combat effectiveness (depending on the kind of ship). I guess my ideal design for a cargo hauler for example would be a giant flying empty box. Imagine how much stuff I could fit in a smaller ship like the cutter for example, if that interior middle section was all empty space, and those two internal walls did not exist, is the way my brain works. Not poking fun at others, genuinely curious as to why this aspect of the game is so important to so many people. It seems to be a big reason many players will choose one ship over another.
@@icewyrm. exactly, it's about immersion and feeling like a crew member or captain of a spaceship. It might be an unpopular opinion but i feel like ships like the Aurora or Mustang don't provide a good starting point for someone who gets into the game for the first time. I think the game has evolved up to a point where i'd say that something like a 100i or Avenger Titan should be the minimum as far as startership goes. CIG should stop selling gamepackages with the Aurora and Mustang and instead maybe give them a rework.
It's very popular opinion to be honest, and I agree. Imho the best starter ship for rookie player is Cutter. Slow, tanky (so harder to crash) with good interrior, gunracks, storage and bed. have all basics to introduce various ship features. But for me Aurora is good enough to start and buy every other ship in game.
