I mix in about 2-4 cups of mixed dried herbs into a bag of layer feed. Technically the culinary herbs are 'green' treats, and can be fed pretty much unlimited. I would maybe use a few tablespoons for each 2 cups of feed.

Where in New Hampshire do you live? We've been looking for a farm somewhere outisde of North Conway.

I live in Littleton, NH. North Conway is a nice place but incredibly busy with traffic in and out of N. Conway. It gets a good amount of snow in that area, a bit milder than where I am, I'm a bit west of that area, close to the border of VT, at the foot of the White Mountains. Our growing season is much shorter than what you have now. Good luck in finding a farm!!

Lisa, how much basil do you recommend you put into the layer pellets - say two cups of layer to how much basil? Thank you for these GREAT videos!!!!

Oh I mix in about 2 cup of dried herbs to a 50 lb bag of feed - so for 2 cups of feed, just a few tablespoon I guess.

Basil is not an insecticide, it doesn't KILL insects, just helps repel them. You also said the same thing about lavender.

Well technically according to this definition, basil is an insecticide: Definition: An insecticide is any substance used to kill, deter, or control insects. But I stand corrected if I implied in any way that basil or lavender KILL insects. DE does that.

The tip for taking cutting is to remove all flowers and flowers, and developing flower buds. Failure to do this with result in poor results, reason is flowers use up energy. and your cutting is ROOTLESS at the mo' so it may not have enough strength to produce a strong new set of roots
