The memorial for Patrick Munnik was powerful. I found it while searching for iridescent lobster shells and knew from the effort they put into the memorial that it wasn't just some random thing and had to look it up to learn more. What a sad and beautiful memorial for a friend...
Yoh. We have the same experience on how we encountered this Easter egg. Although, at first I thought it was one of the Utaru tribes' important people. So, I was actually waiting for a side quest to refer to this memorial.
I wasn't expecting to be an actual memorial for a real person.
@@lorenzolyleabadia1669 g0
Haven't found it, but I will now
Only this game would lead you on something like this while looking for said Lobster shells. Wild.
I just went there and noticed that there is a mourning dove calling out. One of my favorite parts of the game.
Deciphered the code while playing with my son. There's another datapoint where a delver called Korjund mentions he's tired of being ripped-off and cheated by another Oseram, so is planning on putting all of his writings into code.
It took us a little while to work out, as the cypher is missing the letter Q, I think, so we had to rewrite it.
The mysterious number message reads as follows:
"BEAT YOU TO THE SALVAGE AGAIN YOU PILE OF SLAG
HAHA
KORJUND"
Fun, kinda pointless, but a great little bit of worldbuilding. Plus the game got us doing something other than dismantling machines and gawping at scenery.
I deciphered it just yesterday
Thank you
Thats some awsome efforts! 👏 legend
I found both on my own and it was a lot of fun to solve.
Amazing!
Can I just say. I love these little easter eggs of different Sony studios. Almost every Sony game that comes out has references or easter eggs of other Sony games or studios. Just wholesome stuff
Or marketing stuff 😂😂
There’s another ghost of Tsushima Easter egg where you bump into a fox named inari and if you follow it, it brings you to a fox shrine, just like in ghost
Do you know where it is?
now i feel like an idiot..i shot that fox like 5 times and was like "why wont you die!?"
So this guys gona tell us there’s a fox shrine but not tell us where? Wtf?
@@Die-Angst cringe comment
@@Die-Angst Cry harder clown
A small Easter Egg - the first time you try out the diving apparatus and you have to swim past the Tideripper: The theme for Jaws is subtly added to the music.
i hope my scrambled brain can remember this comment the next time i play this game all the way through
@@wiakamanner8348 lol I just had nearly the same exact thought
That Ghost of Tsushima one hits pretty hard when you have the backstory.
I wasn't expecting for it to hit that that. Wow
👏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼👏🏼
@@Die-Angst lol you mad cuz you couldn’t play it
@@BardioTheGoat Naw, I agree. One of the exclusives that didn’t stand up. Never finished Horizon 1 either.
@@KineticTaco Are you high? And if didn't finish Horizon 1, what the hell are you doing here?
I actually found Kratos’ hut by mistake and didn’t even realize it was his house. I was trying to cheese my way up the mountain where the underwater cavern was and it led me straight to it where I found the totem.
I also found Atreus’ totem by mistake as well fighting the Stormbird that spawns there. I didn’t know there were trails. That’s amazing!
😂😂😂
same!
Falcon still calling Aloy "uhloy" I see 😭
That's actually an Easter Egg refering to him being an idiot.
Drives me crazy
He pronounces quite a few things really strangely.
I heard it and, why is he doing that? It's like when they pronounced Aang as "Ung" in the ATLA live action.
Yeah it's not like they have an actual game to have a reference to the pronunciation or anything 🤔
"There's actually a lot more totems to find"
*only a few seconds later*
"There are two more totems out there"
And those 2 are actually 3.
Yes, I found Freja and Baldur too!
To add on the Gildun easter Egg. I just found a note about another character from Zero Dawn: machine blood drinking banuk shaman Brin. It's near a campfire east of Dread bluff ruin and it also mentions the Burning Shores. Or I think it does. In the note, some Oseram mentions that the Banuk shaman was shouting that he has to keep running to "the place of flame and brine", so I do believe we will go there too sometime
there is some dialog about some oseram drinking machine oil and dying. and Aloy says it reminds her of someone she knew
I found that too. It would be a huge coincidence if it weren't the same character. What are the chances of there being another Banuk shaman who drinks machine oil? Plus, when Aloy finally finished his side quest in ZD, he leaves, telling her to seek him out in the Forbidden West.
@@tomboychick that is definitely brin
I just came across this and the burning shores definitely has to be dlc location!
To be honest, I thought that was a reference to Sylens though I didn't know he would be drinking machine blood. Got that one wrong, I guess.
5:02 These helmets are from the shieldweaver armour that many soliders wore alongside Elisabeth Sobeck
The translation for the mysterious numbers can be found on a note titled "Damn That Korjund". It can be found in a car at the Frost Bellowback Site south east of Arrowhead. The numbers translate to: "Beat you to the salvage again you pile of slag, Haha, -Korjund"
I just finished this game today. I absolutely loved pretty much every second of it. I kid you not it is amazing.
It is very rare nowadays to get an original great story. Held my interest the whole time, and hurt my heart when it ended. And all in a huge beautiful world.
And the open world didn't feel repetitive at all. Everything was different. Tallnecks? Different, Cauldrons? Different. It is very well done. Even the side quests are 100% worth doing. So much detail and attention was paid to every aspect. Amazing job.
I afraid first HZD story was by far better but sequel has better world, side quest, bestiary. Overall it is just more rich experniece but it has flaws - bad crafting system, lame upgrade system - too much grinding necessary when you change weapons like every 10 hours or more often. I spend 80 hours and Im satisfied. I thing it took me 55 hours to beat everything in first one but now Im at 70%. But bum simulator + scan every machine is too boring.
May give this game a try on hard or very hard when I get PS5 finally. Thanks Sony for making this for PS4!
@@Alexriga I can agree with that.
And I hope Sony makes thier games more available more often. A lot of people are upset that Sony exclusives are heading to PC, and some even to Xbox. And upset that they are putting new games on the ps4 as well.
I have no idea why. It's a win win all around. More people can enjoy the games, Sony makes more money, last gen users aren't completely left out. It's all wins. So I don't know why some people don't like it.
@@sawdust8691 Just groen up kids. When you are 3 y.o. you sau T|HIS IS MINE. MY TOY! MYYYYYYYY. So it is a bit of stupid psycological jelosity - this is my toy... I don't want other kids to have it... As for me - Im happy. I think timed exclusivity is fine but like in 3 years they could release all eclusive games on all capable platforms. Like HZD bombed on PC it was nice so many people loved it.
Well said dude. I totally agree
i cannot agree more :, )
I randomly found that memorial and thought it was beautiful, but didn’t know the backstory. What a touching tribute
Damn, that memorial in-game to Patrick was awesome... Tears in my eyes.
“Here, we remember our friend, with a view as calming as his voice, on stone as strong as his spirit. He was not just our rock, he was our oak, sturdy and stoic. Whose presence brought us comfort and whose branches touched us all. Rest In Peace."

I actually found Krato’s statue and home before the axe🤣
I immediately recognize the house as soon as I saw it and literally screamed when I picked up the statue and confirmed it . It was a great surprise.
I really hate when people can't pronounce names that are CLEARLY said in a game.
That drives me nuts too. I feel like he didn't even play the game, just read a script... they literally say her name all the time
UA-camrs will often make mistakes like that on purpose, the video will get a ton of comments correcting them. More engagement from viewers increases their chances of getting to the recommended page.
Burning Shores is indeed DLC. it will allow Aloy to go further South to Hollywood California which has active volcanic activity.. hence the name as the place had running magma in places.
Yes, Eh-Loy is one of the most iconic videogame protagonists, joining the ranks of Mirio, Lank, and Krutus!
Thats literally how the say it in the games?
AYY-loy
@@goobernater8186 Ay(aai)-loi is not the same as Eh-loy, sorry toots

People don't even get jokes anymore huh...
Speaking of real landmarks, I even found the Route 66 sign half buried out in the desert somewhere. Can't remember exactly where & it is quite easy to miss.
About the bonus, there's another data point you can get that has info on how to decode the message. I won't say it for those who want to figure it out but IGN posted an update about it yesterday.
Beat me to it! I found the cypher but not the encrypted note!
@@fmolnar87 same here.. came here to comment I found the cipher note but kinda knew someone else would’ve already commented it lol
Ditto. I found the message to decode it last night but had no idea what it was for.
Yeah its legit just saying I beat you to some salvage place. Not worth the effort to decode all of it imo. Unless the person who wrote it is supposed to be exciting for those who know the lore better.
Link for the ign video.
The mysterious numbers say:
"Beat you to the salvage again you pile of slag haha Korjund"
And it can be translated using a key found in the data point "Damn that Korjund".
Did no one catch Kotallo's new arm? The fact that it's a hidden blade from Assasins Creed including the missing ring finger
Anyone else annoyed by his pronunciation of Aloy's name?
Not everyone is english my friend so not everything will be prounced the way they pronounce things
@@ethanwintersseveredhandI know, I'm not English either. Was mostly annoyed because the name gets spoken out loud a million times in the game, so to get it this wrong almost seems intentional.
Bro skipped every cutscene
“Al-oi” 💀
I didn't even notice
I feel like the recordings under The Base are worth a mention. I knew something was down there but you can’t find it til post-game so you spend a while pondering it. It was really sweet when I found them and listened to them.
oooo nice, I need to go down there!
Another really cool Easter egg is El Capitan in Yosemite. It’s just outside of The Bulwark and it is climbable with a greenstone slab at the top. To my knowledge, the climbing routes are also accurate to the actual routes to climb in Yosemite, with varying difficulty.
No way ! As a climber this sounds like the best easter egg ever to me !
@@hugobonin9288 Stone Crest also in Sky clan territory is built into the side of half dome which is also climable
If I’m not mistaken, the first relic ruin, in the Daunt, is a lodge at Zion National Park in Utah.
@@chloea8545 Its is! I notice angel's landing right away!
I found a big wooden door built into a cliff up north near a tallneck and a cauldron and alloy remarks how she's not gonna be able to open it... "Yet" I'm assuming it's future dlc.
7. Kratos' hut can be found in the northwestern section of the map along with his axe
6. There are three God Of War totems
5. Ghost of Tsushima Easter egg by meditating and honoring a developer who passed away. Rest In Peace Patrick Munnik
4. Killzone gun can be found during Death's Door mission
3. Excalibur can be found north of Plainsong
2. Real world locations like the Golden Gate Bridge, Palace of Fine Art, Oracle Park, Las Vegas, and more in the game
1. There's a callback to Gildan from The Frozen Wilds DLC
Thanks for the play by play..
Care to enlighten us as to why you listed all the EXACT SAME easter eggs named in the video - in the EXACT SAME order - as if they’d all gone unmentioned? Was it for the people (whom I assume exist) that go straight to the comments to find a synopsis of the video content? Because if not, that seems like it’d be an immense waste of time to me.
Thanks man I didn't wanna watch this whole video
I immediately knew who that note was written by but I couldn’t for the life of me remember his name. Gildun, the mad man!
This game just gets better and better the longer i play it
There is a Sidequest called "Shadow in the West", which deals with a threat one thought was history, This might be a Note the "Shadow in the East" quote from the Middleearth franchise regarding the rerise of Sauron.
Damn that hits different…. “He was our oak” they immortalized that man.
"Ei-loy" not "Ah-loy"!!
It drives me crazy how he says her name also the way he says bunker
It’s A-loy…not UH-loy
I love how they put the tribute in there, I found it by accident & just sat there thinking how this must be more than just a game story & here I find it was! beautiful moment in an incredible game!
During the thunderjaw fight from the arrowhead side quest, the key is on one of the cars. The note says something like we have been robbed again so I will now on pur all notes in code then list the cipher
The mysterious number 🤔???
Accidentally stumbled upon it just now.
I decoded it. Let me know if you want the solution

Not sure if this one isn't mentioned because it's quite obvious. Milduf the cook's quest is an easter egg for Monster Hunter World. After completing, he will go into a cooking cutscene and Aloy enjoying the meal, reminiscent of the Monster Hunter World's Meowscular Chef cooking cutscene. Pretty sure this was deliberate as they did collab, with MHW having an Aloy and Burrower costume for you and your Pelico respectively
im crying at the memorial part, i love it when the do something like that in videgames
Gildun was done dirty in the frozen wilds dlc. He shows up to wish you a safe trip before the last mission but he is just locked into that after. He sticks around and continues to tell you about how he wouldnt be any help in the cauldron but he wanted to wait at basecamp to wish you luck. Im glad that he vame back in this game to let us now he wasn't trapped at that banuk camp for the rest of his days.
I didn’t know Vegas was in this game. Now I have to get it, cuz I live there, and I love exploring it in video games. And Caesar’s Palace isn’t a giant mall, it’s 1 of many giant casinos on the strip
You probably didn't get too far since it is a main story mission. I won't say anything more but all I will say is this: the ending of that quest. Hold onto the feeling it gives you
Beyond that, best of luck
Do the sides quests in that area....so worth it.
I just finished playing that area hours ago and boy was that an experience especially since it's first underwater
It's obviously not to scale. I remember the Stratoshphere being much larger in person. Still cool to see buildings you recognise, though.
If you have ever been in Caesar's Palace you'll see that in addition to the casino floor it is a bunch of restaurants and luxury shops. A mall, in effect.
Nil is in this game, machine races will let you eventually see him (he's masked until the end)
Wow, I didn’t now about the memorial, but after seen it I remembered Michael Andrew Nash. One of the artist and creator of the Horizon Zero Dawn machines. I wander why they didn’t include him too. He was a massive pillar in the first game and he also pass away. I will always remember his amazing art.
That’s pretty awesome how they made their friend a virtual memorial that millions will visit!
There is also an Easter egg for Sekiro shadows die twice, Kotallo, (you meet during the Broken Sky mission), is not only voiced by the actor that voiced Sekiro, he also has his left arm severed in a fight at the end of the embassy quest early on. You end up befriending him and he offers his service to you, you then end up bringing him back to The Base and later dialog with Gaia reveals that she talked with him about a possible solution to his severed arm and suggests you talk to him about it. Hmmm Prosthesis maybe?
Love that y’all put a memorial of your own in the vid for the lead producer, had ya boi tearin up a lil
I’m really hoping we get more than 1 DLC expansion this time around. I hope one includes venturing to where the Quen’s territory
Same here, they’ve left it wide open for a dlc with political issues to solve with advanced focus’s
Might be the setting for Horizon 3.
Are we going to Asia next?
I'm seriously enjoying this game. What a experience
I just came across a random Destiny reference today. When you're in the base Erund and Varl were talking and Erund says "What are we gonna go up against next? Wizards from the moon?" Timely reference, that
The one in the video is not Alcatraz, the real island is located in the northern bay at the edge of the map, next to the Golden gate. It is completely submerged but the lighthouse, the central building and the large water tank are recognizable. At the top of the ruins there is a datapoint that mentions Alcatraz.
Man between this, Dying Light 2 and Sifu, I'm so happy that nothing else is coming out for a while so I can savor these absolute masterpieces
Do we tell him? 😶
Bought Sifu just before HFW and man it kicked my ass 😂
Going to enjoy going back and grinding that once I'm done with Horizon.
Half way with main story in forbidden west.
And i’m okay into the story in DL2.
I’m switching between them.

Well, the following heppened to me a couple of times: I'm flying with my Sunwing mount, I can't remember the area(s), but at some point, turning the camera around Aloy, I see an owl flying by my side. I don't know if I was supposed to follow it or if it was just following me...I didn't follow it because I wanted to progress with the game and frankly I thought it was just a cute detail of the game. Anyone else noticed this?
Yup same thing happen to me today. Owl was flying along side me between skys sentry and cliffwatch. But I didn't follow it. I think it was just following me.
It's intended
Pelicans do the same too
Mysterious numbers: "Korjund, that speckled slab of slag has beaten us to the site and cleared the salvage six times in a row. I'm going to have to put everything into code from now on"
The mysterious note numbers are actually the winning powerball combos for 2022 🧐
😅
Awesome, thanks for the content guys! Much love from Alaska
Our pleasure!
I think the helmets above the killzone guns are from the prototype suit shown in the first game. The environmental suit I believe it's called ?
U see it when u unlock it for yourself and when u finish the main story and aloy goes to see sobeks remains.
You are correct on that one.
I remember about Patrick munnik.. yes, that was very upsetting for guerilla games..
There’s actually a key to the numbers on a note in the game. I meant to screenshot it because I knew it would come in handy eventually, but I forgot. Also forgot where I came upon it the the world too lol. Oops. But it does exist and acts as a key to the cipher.
Found it! The note is Damn That Korjund!

Okay, at this point surely Falcon is purposely mispronouncing character names…
Seriously. He finally nails “iteration” but now we’re getting “Uhloy”? He’s gotta be taking the piss out of us.
Found what might be a Destiny reference, overheard Erend saying
"What's next? Wizards from the moon?"
You can find another note, I think near Arrowhead, titled "Damn That Korjund!" that has the cypher. Not an amazing reveal when it's decyphered though.
What's it say then??
@@3ftninja132 “Beat you to the salvage again you pile of slag haha Korjund”
Basically Korjund was taunting the guy who created the cypher in the first place.
I found another Easter egg to do with the frozen wilds. After doing the balloon quest with Morlund (with the storm it’s fight), you are soon free to ride in his balloon at any time with no problems. If you in the balloon long enough, he will simply ask “You ever been to the Frozen Wilds?” Not that much but I thought it was a cool nod
Also thanks for the war totem mention I needed then collectibles
Brin is mentioned in one of writings as well. Some Oseram found him drinking oil from a machine.
Might get the stone sword after 100% completion
7:28 just behind alcatraz remanents you can see the old bay bridge; the double decker platforms are easy to spot
The arrows on the palm trees I did find but I thought the game bugged out on me because it didn't give me a sidequest popup, so I reloaded a quicksave I didnt 20mins before and avoided the palmtree arrows. But now thanks to this video, I know its related to the totems. Thank you!
That Gow Easter egg is dope shows homage to another lovely series
I understand that some names are difficult, but Aloy is not hard to pronounce. Did you not play the game or do you not care?
Right?!?! My thoughts exactly.
Education isn't important? So why would proper pronunciation be? The majority of UA-camrs do it.
Some video narrators are not gamers. They just read a script
Bruh I haven’t met a person that cares
I was just about to say this. I feel like falcon mispronounces a word every single video to the point that it's probably him making a spiteful joke, probably because people have called him out before, but if true, it's pretty stupid.
**he said in falcon's cadence accidentally**
I freaken love this game so much! ❤

One cool thing about the forum shops in Las Vegas is they actually modeled them after the old style shops. It was remodeled a few years ago so it looks more modern but the one in game looks very much like the original style that I grew up with. Vegas local here.
Cant wait for the steam deck review from you guys
In the underwater portion of Las Vegas there is a shop called Ralph Von Vekta Elite Clothes. Vekta is a race from Killzone.
Not surprising at all that there are God of war references. It's a nod from one exclusive to another. Ghost of tsushima had references from; shadow of the colossus, horizon zero dawn and God of war. It's all in the Sony family :)
Exactly. They're all PS Studios now. By knowing that, it's not a surprise that all the other PS studios congratulated Guerrila for the game realise.
The cypher for the number puzzle is in the Tenakth area where you fought Thunderjaw
Dude it's A-Loy not ahloy🤣
Anybody else twitch a little bit on the way Falcon pronounces Aloys name. Still love the content.
The shallow sandbar you take the boat to SF from (where the slaughterspine is) is meant to be a flooded Monterey Bay, the memorial is at the northern tip which is meant to be Natural Bridges State Park in Santa Cruz (I know that natural arcy having lived on the Monterey Coast for nearly a decade). Just south you can find the Bixby bridge
hey just found a data point for the cipher everyone has been trying to figure out. It's by the thunderjaw site during the "thirst for the hunt" side quest. It's called, "damn that korjund!". I solved it and it said "beat you to the salvage again you pile of slag, haha korgund"
TheBurning Shores dlc was a right guess
this gamne should be GOTY, the "burning shores" sounds like a volcanic terrain
Kratos also appears in one of the first holographic projections with Gaia, if you have a savegame of the most recent God of War game
In Horizon zero dawn I was able to visit Red Rocks amphitheater, which would be in the foot hills to the west of Denver CO. Been there personally, been there in game. Made a connection for me, reality to..... dystopia.
The last one is actually translated by using a datapoint cipher we get called "Damn that Korjund" which is in an old bus north of Camp Nowhere (Camp Nowhere is in the No Man's Land area between The Daunt and Plainsong)
Has anybody found Brin, the one that drank machine oil?
He say he would see her in the West
Yeah he better be somewhere or at least a something of his.
@@elinederpelt4406 When you are doing the quest called The Burning Blooms you will meet an Utaru. Once you are done conversing with him if you stay a while he will comment that Banuk has pass over the tunnel. Might be referencing Brin?

i love how you guys add expression to alloy's face 🤣
There's one "l" in her name. Aloy.
Such a amazing character
Why do you pronounce her name like that? It's not like they don't mention it a million times in the game.
"Could this be a hint about a DLC or something?"
*10 months later*
you would be exactly correct
Waiting till I can buy a PS5 for this and I've just spoiled myself by watching this video. I didn't even know there were flying mounts! Now I want to play it even more
Honestly, I recommend getting the PS4 version. With PS5s being so difficult to come by, still, there's no guarantee you'll be getting ahold of one anytime soon, and the PS4 version has a free upgrade to the PS5 digital version. Just note that to be able to GET that version, you have to be able to insert the PS4 disk into the machine, meaning you can't go with the digital console.
The only real downside to the PS4 version is that you'll find the game taking longer to load between menus than it should, and the occasional out-of-place loading screen as the game tries to load in certain areas that are accessible in the open world map.
@@YodaIzChaos he never said he has the ps4

And you were right about Gildun and Burning Shores :D

The way that Falcon pronounces Aloy makes me want to start kicking birds. Her name is only shouted at you every 10 seconds in the game. Should be pretty easy to remember how to get it right
