Hello Peter, I am 80 next year and still taking pictures. I use a Ricoflex TLR camera and I have a Ricoh XR 10 plus. An excellent camera. I like the L setting on the shutter dial to lock it up. I also use a Ricoh GR digital camera with 8.1 megapixels. I also had an Essex wife from Braintree. We had five children. She died last year which was very sad. Good wishes to you my dear man
Happy New Year. I'm currently 17 and about a year ago, I got my first DSLR (a Pentax K70) which I love. Just wanted to say that I'm really inspired to get into older camera technology because of your videos. With the current film (and developing) prices it will probably be a while until I actually try it out but until then I got videos like yours. Thanks :)
I started when I was 15 years old at East Ham Grammar School Photographic Society and have been in 'Clubs' ever since ! My first Club out of School was the South Essex Camera Club meeting only once a fortnight ! I arrived and was made welcome by all the Old Fogeys of 45 - 70 years old BUT I didn;t NOTICE I was the YOUNGEST ONE there -- only that they were Fellow Photography Enthusiasts ! One Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society got me to go to his home and he showed me darkroom Printing with Home-made AMIDOL Print developer and his Wife Ann would serve me Marmalade Toast ! in my 20's in 1970 I got MY Letters but only the Associate ship of the RPS -- again all the famous Photographers there made me welcome to the meetings -- but NOW if a 'Young Person' comes to BRENTWOOD Photographic Club and sees us Old Fogeys they never come again !
@@theoldfilmbloke As a kid, I had a small pocket camera and I took photos of anything and everything I saw. Now, I'm mostly sitting at home, watching youtube videos, hoping to get motivated for homework :) Reading your story about photography clubs and Marmalade Toast, I probably should meet other "Photography Enthusiasts" too, now that I know everything important about my camera gear. I live near Vienna, so maybe I can find something there?
There must be Camera Clubs there in Vienna try searching on Google for Camera Clubs Vienna Austria Wishyou lived closer to me here you could visit Brentwood Photographic Club tomorrow ! Been our this morning with Rolleiflex T and Nikon F5 loaded with BW films so Cold minus 6 degrees so came home to warm again but got couple of snaps !
I had a look there is a Camera Club in Vienna but it seems to be a theatre Club then there is the Vienna Photographic Society BUT it is Vienna in USA !
Such an aesthetically pleasing camera for the price range. The choice for the tripod user with speeds down to 16s. Your respect for it really shows through!
It took a LONG WHILE to get onto UA-cam as the Canon Digital Video camera made it in 2 separate files which needed to be JOINED and I cannot do that but took card to Chelmsford and Daughter did it with a bit of trouble !
Well I immediately started laughing at you good mood and happiness to make it to 2024! It’s great tonhave you here for one of your great reviews. Keep them coming 🎉
Happy new year Peter. Hope to watch your videos for years to come!!! Some Ricoh lenses have the 'Ricoh' pin. This pin might get stuck when attached to a Pentax autofocus camera ( in the screw-drive hole of the camera.....)
Great review! I was gifted a "non-Super" KR-10 and I think they are great cameras. I think they are a very good budget alternative to the Pentax ME Super. Keith
FYI Pentax lenses on Ricoh bodies is OK. But Ricoh auto lenses (especially 3rd party Ricoh-compatible K mount lenses with 'A' setting) may jam on a Pentax autofocus body. The Ricoh uses a different 'A' mechanism than the Pentax Ka mount, and the Ricoh auto pin may jam in the screwdrive AF slot. I have even used FA-series autofocus lenses on Ricoh bodies with no problem but my Pentax digital body did get jamed once by a Tokina lens. The solution was to gentlely insert a shim into where the Ricoh pin got stuck and force it out.
I'd love to see the results of the Harman Phoenix film as so far I've not found a review by anyone that develops their negs and prints their own photo's yet. Every review I've seen has been done with a scanner electronically. All the best Boss.
Ricoh are so under-rated. I've got three of them (KR5, KR10 and this KR10 Super) and they have all worked fine for years along with three Rikenon lenses and a couple of Pentax lenses. Poor mans Nikon perhaps but no less usable and with excellent results. Recommended.

Remember, when the Vivitar Serie 1 zoomlens
80-200 mm was introduced in the Seventies.
Everybody got mad at Nikon.

Happy New Year Peter, I look forward to being able to say the same at the start of 2025

All the best Boss.
I developed the Harman Phoenix myself but only 'short TEST Lengths' but I scanned the negs as I no longer do RA4 darkroom COLOUR printing only B&W
That looks to be in very nice condition.
YES -- 'MINT' and all the Foam Seals are good !
