Still illegal but fuck it because the only way you can kill someone with it is by hitting it really hard on someone's head and hoping it would not break😂

New barrel new springs maybe a new heat shield and if the receiver isn’t cracked or structurally weak she’ll work and live again
New bolt. New barrel. New barrel shroud. Possibly new receiver cams. New recuperator. New receiver small parts kit. New grip panels. Hell, about $2500 worth of parts here in the US

Just found this video. MG34 was better made than the MG42 because it was all machined instead of stamped. Probably one reason why you were able to bring it back. The double trigger mechanism was an engineering masterstroke to me.
Just saying boiling is a very good way to remove rust, dirt, and crude from weapons as it will return the rust back into bluing. Then with a super fine wire wheel it comes right off.

Een slijptol met metalen borstel is eigenlijk te heftig. Dan haal ook ook eventuele blauwingsresten weg. Daarom om die reden ook niet spuiten. Ik zelf gebruik vaak de rode nylonborstels van een onkruidverwijderaar. Hiermee haal je wel de rommel weg, maar je metaal en blauwing blijft netjes. Dit doe ik alleen bij niet al te zeldzame vondsten.
Probeer je wat meer te verdiepen in het restaureren of doneer de volgende keer meteen aan een museum. Hier is de expertise voor een professionele restauratie. Vaak moet het metaal nog ontzout worden e.d.
Ik zeg dit niet om je werk af te kraken, maar het resultaat zal er alleen maar beter van worden. Top dat je het gedoneerd hebt.
ligt aan hoe diep je aan het borstelen bent neem ik aan? blauwing gaat vrij diep het metaal in toch? ontzouten als het uit een zoetwatergreppel komt lijkt mij wat overbodig.
Sommige mensen durven de roest er niets eens af te halen. in dit geval vind ik het niet zo erg. de keuze om het te spuiten ipv herblauwen of iets anders vind ik wel vreemd
Het klinkt vreemd, maar ook in zoet water moet metaal ontzout worden. Hoe dit te doen is trouwens online te vinden.

Mijn tenen krulden in eerste instantie toen ik de haakse slijper zag. Was bang dat een schuurschijf werd gebruikt. Uiteindelijk na behandelen met een roest oplosser. Mijn ervaringen met HG zijn zeer positief.

Does bog swamp better at preserving metals? For something that got buried for 70 years I am surprised it still has the little details well preserved

Als je dit soort dingen wil vinden, moet je naar de laatste plek waar de Duitsers zich overgaven. Noord Nederland. Tot in de jaren 70 werden daar regelmatig mg's en andere wapens in de sloot gevonden.

I swear these guys are some of the most honest relic hunters anywhere. There has been many many cases of Russian relic hunters extracting explosives for whatever reason as well as restoring the weapons and stockpiling them and they are not allowed to own any of the explosives or automatic weapons. I watched a lot of videos of them out searching and when I see them destroy relics again and again I wish that they would be banned from doing it. The relics of the world wars belongs to everyone the people of each country paid for the stuff and I don't think it's right for people that are just scrapping relics for money to touch what belongs to the world

Good to see that You was not afraid to clean it up properly instead of pretending that "dirt and crust is an important part of the pice and must not be destroyed" i am realy sick and tired of those who pretend dirt to be a part of the originals, this was as close as possible to how it was originaly ment to look and all the markings and stamps are now wisible and can be read properly instead of covered in old layers of baked in disgusting crust.

A good way to clean rusted steel is to immerse it in a tub of Molasses and water. It will clean back to bare metal without damaging the metal or any stamps in the metal.

Impressive how less rusty this steel got over the years... my grandfarther found an old luger pistol about 50 years ago and it allready was just a piece of rusted iron
Alot of it comes down to the conditions it is left in, fresh water doesn't rust nearly as quick, specially in a river, course mud can speed it up
This one is not old,the Nazi are building weapons again for their next war and by this they try to deseive the world again(they pretend they find old weapons and take the rust out).

I’ve always wondered if it was possible to find one of these, and restore it to full working order, and thus having a unregistered Medium Machine Gun.
It would have to be a very good set of circumstances and because of age many parts may break assuming they didn’t during the 70+ years. Unless you find spare parts, know a guy, or have the capability to manufacture new parts you won’t have a working gun for long.

Dat is zeker een goed geconserveerde vondst, dit wapen heeft heel wat geschiedenis.
Is dit het type wat de aanpassing heeft met lagers om sneller te vuren?
Dacht aan Fort bij Krommeniedijk maar in Egmond aan zee zullen ze er heel blij mee zijn.
