Thomas & The Storyteller is honestly one of the best episodes that handles the three-strikes formula pretty well because we see Thomas helping out three different engines in three different situations instead of making three mistakes

The HiT era really has some underrated gems that aren't talked about that even I didn't notice about till now gradually. I always thought Duncan's Bluff is underrated due to it not being talked as much as it shows Duncan and James' dynamic being used which is a callback to Rock 'N' Roll where James gave Duncan bad advice (and also calling him out for being late before the latter complained to him about Rusty).
Thomas & the Storyteller is another favorite S11 episode of mine given how it shows Thomas in his S5 persona, helping his friends in a time of need even if he was tasked to doing a special job. That, combined w/ the railway realism and callbacks makes it an even greater episode. I wish it was on The Greatest Stories DVD because it is well...a great episode to put on and hasn't been given a DVD release. Fun fact, that and Emily's Rubbish were aired on the same day as the 41st RWS volume 'Thomas & Victoria'. And also, since Cronk Abby as a school in the RWS, it's surprising that the HiT era took one piece of RWS lore into the show subtly.

This is another positive example of showing love to the HiT era.
While this era is only average with quite a few gems, it’s truly not the worst era of the show and it is positively entertaining.
Thomas and the Storyteller is seriously underrated and I fully agree with every point you made. People seriously give this era too much hate, while it’s not as entertaining as the classic era, that doesn’t automatically mean it’s terrible. So glad there are people creating videos regarding this era. Great job dude 👍👍

I have a friend who is sort of obsessed with this episode and also considers it very underrated. And yeah, it's quite good! If HiT characterized Thomas more in line with this episode, I think the era as a whole would be much more tolerable to most fans. Personally I think Hector the Horrid & Dream On are better eps from this season but this one deserves more love too.
Good video btw! Would definitely like to see you cover more episodes that don't get enough recognition.

As a recent HIT era stan, THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING THIS GEM OF AN EPISODE. The is one I don't see talked about, and as a whole its a wholesome, sweet, and fantastic episode not just for the HIT era, but the show in general. Definitely a amazing start to S11. (BTW, I really liked Season 11 tho). Great job with this video

I revisited Season 11 sometime last year and I really enjoyed myself when watching this episode. This and "Percy and the Oil Painting" are prime examples of how to use the 3-strikes formula without making the episode feel repetitive.

I very vividly remember watching this episode for the first time as a kid. I was sure Topham was gonna be furious when he found out Thomas wasn’t doing his job, even as a four year old, I’d grown wise to the three strikes formula, but I was actually genuinely surprised at how good the ending was.

Personally, the CGI Series (Even though there are some episodes I like) doesn't have as much charm as the entire Model Series.
Also, I think that the HiT-Era is really overhated and underrated. I understand why people have problems with it, but I could never hate the HiT-Era as I grew up with the entrie model-era (S1-7, TATMR, Jack and the Pack and the HiT-Era).
There are some people who raise some good points about the HiT-Era which I agree on:

I personally do love the episode myself. Another rare instance where the three strikes formula works in a Thomas episode. My only nitpick of the episode is if they'd removed the word "magical" in the final line of the episode. This IS based on The Railway Series, am I right. The faces are the only cartoony element of what is basically a real British Railway, Rusty and the Boulder not withstanding. Other than that, its a good episode. It's funny how the first 6 episodes of Season 11 are in the same season as Don't Be Silly Billy, Edward and the Mail, Thomas and the Big Bang, and Skarloey Storms Through. Truly underated this one is. 😊

If you’re looking for a good three-strikes episodes from CGI, definitely would recommend Tickled Pink. The pink coat itself isn’t realistic but it’s nice to see James learn to look past his appearance and it has a wonderful ending.
However, there are 4 BWBA episodes that I feel are even more underrated, being:
*What Rebecca Does: In a point in the show's history where gimmicks where what made up many of the new characters, even Rebecca herself, I like how this episode showed that it's what's on the inside that matters.
*James the Super Engine: I mean come on, James acting like a secret superhero is just unadulterated fun.
*Cleo's First Snow: Yes, Cleo's first appearance (and her design overall) is a bit questionable, but I love this episode because we get something we don't get anywhere else in the series: a mother-daughter relationship. Cleo is literally a child and she acts like it, making her want to save the snow pretty reasonable. Seeing Ruth teach and comfort her is very sweet and when Cleo is sad the snow leave, you can understand her child-like sentiments and you want to comfort her. Shame they didn't do more with this dynamic.
*Thomas' Animal Friends: I love the moral in this one and how Rebecca is used within it. It teaches kids not to let others stop you from enjoying something you like. Thomas was only in costume for a specific reason, to promote the habitat's opening, and it's not like painting an engine to advertise something isn't something that doesn't happen. The costume is purposely ridiculous, that's why the engines laughed at him and why he laughed at them when he imagined them as animals. Rebecca was simply giving Thomas a coping mechanism to get back at those who laughed at him and I think it's incredibly sweet as a result.

Thomas & The Storyteller is not only a underated episode, but it's also a great episode. However my choice for the most underrated HiT era episode is Season 8's Thomas Saves The Day, Because holy shit, I have't seen people talk about it. But like Storyteller, that episode bring enjoyment for me at least. Reasons being is that while Thomas feels a little bit of a worrier, it's nice to see him miss Annie & Clarabel, it gives me Classic Series vibes. The story itself is honestly a good one, it feels like it could fit in with Series 6 or 7 Hell even season 1. But the best part of that episode.....Is the music. OH MY GOD THE MUSIC!!!! Although Hartshorne wasn't as good as he was in the CGI Series. The music for when Thomas chases the trucks, feels as suspenseful as the runaway theme from the Classic Series. So overall Thomas & The Storyteller and Thomas Saves The Day are underrated and great HiT Era Episodes.

I completely forgot about this episode, and Thanks to you I found it and I love it. It's not at the same level of *Squak, Rattle and Roll, Respect for Gordon or James the second best*, which are more character study episodes (for me at least) but it's a fun slice of life story and Thomas at his core it's a slice of life show, soo yeah, a fantastic experience to watch. Love all the little things like the usage of railway terms like garante connection or the whistle thing *(most realistic HIT ERA episode, I never though that I said that but okay)*, Thomas being a sweet heart is such a treat to see knowing how much of an asshole he could be sometimes, this goes to show that he genuinely cares about his friends *"another Hit episode with a great understanding of the character"* and a detail that I realized watching the episode is the part where Thomas pass the church and you can hear the sound of the church bell in the background, it's the little things that made me apreciate the amouth of effort that was put in this show. The only thing that I would loved with all my heart if this episode was called Edward and the storyteller, like don't get me wrong I adore Thomas, HE'S my second favorite character in the series but I don't know, this story fits Edward's character perfectly and If this was the case this would have been Edward's definitive episode on the HIT era.
But apart from that I really like this episode, this video was such a joy to watch and thanks to you I found another great episode and sorry for the comment being too long, I just loved to talk about the model series you fell me ;)

Also, I have a question. I really enjoyed your video on the overhated Thomas episodes, and I've been wondering if you'd be okay with me making a video on some overRATED episodes of the show, in a similar structure to your vid, or would that be plagiarism and something that would get me sued?
