Dr Chris Brown and Sam Michael experience the power of the RAAF Hornet

Dr Chris Brown (Channel 10 Formula One commentary team) and Mr Sam Michael (Sporting Director McLaren F1) were given the opportunity to gain an understanding of the speed and power of the F/A-18A Hornet, during a familiarisation visit, and F/A-18 flight, with No 3 Squadron at RAAF Williamtown. The RAAF have provided aerial handling displays of F/A-18 aircraft and the Roulettes, during the Formula One opening series of the world Formula 1 Championship, to highlight and demonstrate the synergies between speed, power and teamwork.

I would love to do this for a living. Just gotta get through year 11 and 12 first, even then there is no certainty that I would get into the RAAF.

I am happy for these guys but, it makes me angry that someone like myself, who has been encapsulated by aviation since I was 2 years old, and now I hold the highest rating in civilian aviation (ATP), cannot get a ride in an FA-18 but, apparently if you have blonde hair, good looks and have no aviation interest (i.e.; did a degree in veterinary science), you get your chance of a lifetime to fly in an FA-18! I'm sorry, I will never get these publicity rides. Give them to someone who has devoted their life to the industry, not a pin-up boy!!

Mate i agree with you 100%, but if you have such a 'drive' and passion to fly one of these as it sounds why dont you just apply yourself to it and actually go join the RAAF as a pilot and try to get that as a job !!!
