I feel your pain, this is not an easy song to edit to, but I have a soft spot for it. This was one of the songs that got me into the musical because it gave a much-needed and darkly humorous backstory to a villain that had a lot of potential in the film but was ultimately overshadowed by the cast, so to speak. I recommend looking up and watching how the song and the scene itself is in the stage version, it's hilarious.

This is a bit of a late reply, but his mother was the princess from The Princess and the Pea. It tells you a bit about her in the song, his dads bed was lumpy so he built a new 27 mattress tall bed. His mother rolled off the bed and (what I'm guessing) fell to her death.
