Wanted to come here to say that you've sold me into actually taking the plunge into the forge, Alec. I've always had an inkling of interest, that kind of fleeting *desire* I couldn't ever really grasp at for most of my life as a young lad. This last year especially has been a transformative experience for me- Just about to graduate from being a teen (20 in june), I went from a college bound geek to someone with a lot less prospects in life due to migraines and various other happenings over these past few years. Managed to pull a diploma out of the crapshoot, and now I've got some free-time on my hands. I'd spent these last 2-3 years watching series like Forged in Fire, or UA-cam videos like yours, and just never had the resources or bits and pieces to try and make the hurdle, but I saved up a small nest-egg and got some help from Pops welding up a small starter forge (long enough for knives and wide enough for axe heads, when I get there), with railroad iron for an anvil, and enough hand tools to finally start the long road of the basics (Once I've got that down, I owe him a fish-cleaning knife for his troubles!). I've watched through most of your "basics" videos, and I've got enough scrap in the shed to last me a decent list of projects and practice, especially for the learning of those leaves and the like; but between the outbreak, the costs, and the fact I learn the best by seeing and doing more than listening, I wasn't planning for a blacksmith class. Because of that, I was going to ask if you had any other tips for an aspiring novice, especially one who's going to be doing 99% of the work with hand tools. I've got an angle grinder, but that's about the only machine in my arsenal at the moment, so any advice would be welcomed!

I'm a professional dog handler. I was a little confused when you said nose art, because thats what my dogs leave on the back window of my SUV . I like this version better!
