    Don't be so hard on yourself. I think it is a very good video. You were concise with the explanation. It doesn't seem like a hard or complex procedure. You did good man.
    And the lighting in you shop/garage seems to be fine or you compensated well. Picture looks good to me. Of course I'm not an expert, but neither is most of your audience. Kudos!

    Wish I had known that today. For whatever reason my Wing lost contact with the key fob while riding down the interstate..making my dash completely useless and shutting off the speedo. Not sure if they are related but it’s at the dealer now. However I did have my code on my key fob and wish I knew how to use that to restart the bike. Live and learn..thnx for the visual..better than the manual 😂

    Yes sir, I figured that out when I owned my last Goldwing, and I've figured it out with my Harley to, and it's nice to know this for sure, just in case the battery in the fob goes bad then just enter the code that you programed to the bike and then you really don't need the fob, good job brother, I'm sure it will help others out 💯✌️😎

      Very informative video. Now I know how to help a 2018+ GOLDWING owner if they need it. Because I can tell you that probably 99% of owners don't know that and will never take the time you took to learn it. Good on you Moose. BTW, the lighting is fine.

    Great video! I needed to see this. I have the same exact wing that you and Mike have. I don’t know if you like your seat or not, I don’t like it. I ended up getting the ultimate seat set. Seat, riders backrest and passenger backrest. The set works with factory controls and is way comfortable! I don’t even think about the seat when riding anymore. When I sat all the way back on the stock seat it would hurt my tailbone. This new seat, I sit all the way back and no problems. I definitely recommend it to everyone that can’t stand their stock seat.

      I have not gotten to spend much time in the saddle due to winter here in Michigan, but, I am very interested in hearing more about this seat, is there a certain website I should look at to get more information? Thanks, Ride safe.

      IMHO folks are too eager to jump on the need a new seat deal. They don’t give the stock seat a chance to break in. Mine was uncomfortable too when it was new. Granted it took close to a year and several thousand miles but it’s fine now. Save your money and get lots of other stuff. 😜

    great Video ya did a good job explaining HOW TO....... the phone storage for the codes is a great idea as well. as I always have my phone in my jacket pocket just is case I drive off a cliff some place lol I can hopefully dial 011 n get help and the chances of someone stealing my jacket off my back is slim to none.. and another idea for the codes is have them printed inside your helmet or sewn into your jack some place. I think they made that rear cover over the key hole was a safety thing as well.

    Besides the FOB #, write down your key number also. I think the idea of the longer key (I think they call it the emergency key in the manual) is to keep it in your wallet or on a key ring in your pocket, in case you lose the FOB with the key in it. This way you have a way to unlock that cylinder. Yes, the saddlebags must be left open for this crazy procedure to work (I tried - doesn't work when they are closed). I just put the Gold Strike highway pegs on mine yesterday - highly recommended.

    I must have missed a step. how do you get the fuel button door open if the fob is dead? I did watch a video where a small neat hole can be drilled in the fuel button door to give access to the button release if the fob is dead. they drilled the hole which couldnt have been bigger than 5/16 through the plastic door. then they used a plastic button fastener to plug the hole..

    • @moose3971
      @moose3971  4 роки тому

      You don't open the door, the button used to key in the code is the button that would normally open the door for access to the fuel door button. All the information is entered with the button on the outside of the bike. I assume once the bike is running that the door can be opened.

      I only included approx. 4 digits if memory serves, LOL. I tried to make sure that I didn't put them all in. At least the key would be needed to do any real damage, since the saddle bag has to be released via the cylinder. I tried to be cautious when editing it. Guess if I go out and my bike is missing one day I'll know I got it wrong. LMAO. Thanks for watching.

      I’m not entirely sure. I would think a dealer that is capable of making keys should either be able to get that information from the VIN. If you find out for sure let me know. I would be interested in that information. I imagine there must be a way. People buy used wings would need the code.

    My 2022 Goldwing emergency codes didn't come with the bike when I purchased it from a private seller. I went to three different Honda dealers to see if I could purchase the two codes. Each dealer told me they couldn't be duplicated. I wrote Honda corporate who were helpful. They required a photo copy of the owners papers along with a copy of my drivers license. After a few days they sent me the codes that were assigned to the bike.

    • @moose3971

      Mine are in a folder around here someplace Lol. I did put the codes in my phone, basically created a Contact in my phone book, then if I need them on the road I can access them. Of course, I have to remember how to perform the procedure, they didn’t make it simple by any means.

    It’s no surprise that a multi line Honda dealer doesn’t know Jack. Way too many products and the staff is either never around long enough or the dealership doesn’t sell enough Gold Wings. But it is still confounding after nearly 45 years why Honda corporate allows this unacceptable practice and then allocates a Gold Wing(s) to such unqualified dealers. These premium bikes aught only be sold through authorized L5 volume dealerships with a Corporate certified Sales and Service department. It’s unconscionable to sell a premium motorcycle, at $30k+ without sufficient knowledge. My dealership here in North Texas, DFW Honda, is a high volume L5 high yearly volume Gold Wing dealer. With over 25+ years this dealership knows with “unconscious competence” all about all generations of Honda Gold Wings. My 22 Ultra Blue DCT Airbag is my 3rd Gold Wing. The scary part about owning a Gold Wing always has been when you’re out touring and you are flat stuck having to rely on any of these unqualified dealerships for service. Luckily that hasn’t happened. Knock on wood. Thank you Lord. To Harley Davidsons credit. It’s dealership networks seems infinite. But that’s another video where we talk about the difference between the motorcycles. But dealership qualifications across the nation and around the world has to be part of that discussion. For sure. God helpful video Moose. Thank you kindly.
