  • "Farewell of Slavianka" (Russian: Прощание славянки (pre-1918: Прощаніе славянки), romanized: Proshchaniye slavianki) is a Russian patriotic march, written by the composer Vasily Agapkin in honour of Slavic women accompanying their husbands in the First Balkan War. The march was written and premiered in Tambov in the end of 1912. In the summer of 1915, it was released as a gramophone single in Kiev. Slavianka means "Slavic woman".
It quickly became a popular song between the ranks of the Russian Army and was later used as one of the battle songs of the White Army, during the Russian Civil War, however the song wasn't lost even after the Soviet victory, and was instead re-adapted with communist-appropriate lyrics.

    АНГЛ.
    THERE IS NO OFFICIAL TEXT!!!!!!!
The first text for the melody appeared in 1914, the author is unknown:
You have watered us and fed us,
    Fatherland native fields.
    And we loved selflessly
    You, holy Russia land!
Now the terrible hour of struggle has come.
    The insidious enemy attacked us.
And to everyone who is the son of Russia,
There is only one bloody way to fight!
    Science shelters are empty,
All students are ready to go camping.
So for the motherland, to the cherished goal,
    Let everyone go with faith.
We are children of the great motherland,
We remember the precepts of the fathers,
Those who died for their native land
The heroic death of the fighters.
    Let everyone believe and know:
The rays will flash from behind the cloud,
And a joyful day will shine,
And we will put our swords in the scabbard.
The music with these words became the anthem of the student battalion of the Volunteer Army. In 1918 , the song originated as the Siberian March in the People 's Army:
You have watered us and fed us,
    Siberia's native fields.
    And we loved selflessly
You, the land of snow and ice.
In 1920 , it was sung by the fighters of the Drozdov division:
    Walking through the Perekopsky shaft,
    Having forgotten the past troubles,
In the days of merry bright May,
The "Thrushes" stretched to the north.
New lyrics to the melody of this march were written in the second half of the XX century. In 1967 , the notes of the march were published in the USSR with a text by Arkady Fedotov:
This march did not stop on the platforms,
When the enemy was blocking the horizon.
Our fathers are with him in the smoky wagons
Trains were being taken to the front.
He took Winter with us in the seventeenth,
(since the 1990s, the line has been replaced by:
He defended Moscow in the forty-first)
In the forty - fifth , he walked to Berlin,
He and the soldier went to Victory
On the roads of difficult years.
    Chorus:
    And if you go camping
    The country will call
    Beyond our native land
We will all go to the holy battle!
In 1974, a recording of the "Farewell of the Slavs" appeared with the text of Alexander Galich and in his own performance:
Again, the distance before me is endless,
The expanse of the steppe and the azure sky.
    Don't be sad, my darling,
And don't frown at your dark eyebrows!
    Chorus:
    Forward, behind the platoon platoon,
    The battle trumpet is calling!
    Came from the Bid
    Order to be sent -
And, then, it's time for us to go camping!
In 1984, V. Lazarev wrote a new version on the occasion of the opening of a memorial plaque on the building of the music school in Tambov, which Vasily Agapkin graduated from in 1913
There comes a moment of farewell,
You look anxiously into my eyes,
And I catch my native breath,
And a thunderstorm is already breathing in the distance.
The air wavered misty and blue,
    And anxiety touched the temples,
And Russia is calling us to the feat,
The wind blows from the step of the regiments.
    Farewell, fatherland,
    You remember us,
    Goodbye, sweet look,
Not all of us will come back.
    Farewell, fatherland,
    You remember us,
    Goodbye, sweet look,
    Sorry-goodbye, sorry-goodbye…
    Fly, fly years,
    Trains go into the darkness,
And there are soldiers in them.
    And in the dark sky
    The soldier's star is burning.
And there are soldiers in them.
    And in the dark sky
    The soldier's star is burning.
    Fly, fly years,
And the song - you are always with us:
    We remember you,
    And in the dark sky
    The soldier's star is burning.
    We remember you,
    And in the dark sky
    The soldier's star is burning.
Forest and steppe, and in the steppe there are half-stops.
The light of the evening and new dawn -
Do not forget the farewell of the Slavs,
Repeat it secretly in your soul!
No, the soul will not be indifferent -
The lights are shining for justice…
For love, for the great brotherhood
    We gave our lives.
    Farewell, fatherland,
    You remember us,
    Goodbye, sweet look,
    Sorry-goodbye, sorry-goodbye…
A version of the text written by Andrei Mingalev, an actor of the Irkutsk City Folk Drama Theater, dates back to 1997; in this version, the march is included in the repertoire of such singers as Tatiana Petrova (the first performer of the march with this text), Zhanna Bichevskaya and others:
Stand up for the Faith, Russian Land!
We have put a lot of songs in our hearts,
    Singing the native lands,
    We loved you selflessly
    Svyatorusskaya is our land.
How high did you raise the head,
Like the sun, your face has shone.
But you have become a victim of meanness
Those who betrayed you and sold you.
    Chorus:
    And again on a hike
    The trumpet is calling us.
    We'll all get in line,
And let's all go to the holy battle!
    Stand up for the Faith,
    Russian Land!
Saints are waiting for Russia's victory,
    Respond, Orthodox army!
Where is your Ilya, and where is your Dobrynya?
Sons are called by the Motherland!
We will all stand under the banner,
Let's go in a procession with prayer.
    For the Russian just Cause
We will honestly shed Russian blood.
We are all children of a great power,
We all remember the precepts of the fathers.
For the sake of the Motherland honor and glory
Don't feel sorry for yourself or your enemies!
Rise, Russia, from the slave captivity,
The spirit of victory is calling, it's time to fight!
    Raise the battle banners
For the sake of Faith, Love and Goodness.
In addition, the "Farewell of the Slavs" with a text on the words of Roman Shlesak called "The Weeping willows made a noise" (Polish. Rozszumiały się wierzby płaczące) was in Poland during the Second World War of 1939-45. The anthem of the partisan current - the Home Army. In Finland, there is a song "Free Russia" (fin. Vapaa Venäjä) to the tune of the march. The author of the text is unknown. In 1969, the song won the national hit parade performed by Reyo Frank[fi]. In Israel, the song is known as "Between Borders" (Hebrew. בין גבולות) The poems were written by Chaim Hefer at the age of 19 and are directed against the struggle of the British against illegal land emigration from Lebanon during the Palestinian Mandate after the First World War.
