Excellent explanation and clear video. I’m a woman in my 70’s trying to recycle my electronics. Needed to remove hard drive. First computer I disassembled was a hot mess. Ended up taking back end of hammer to crowbar the back off. Never did find a clear video for that model. This video, however was clear and perfect. I got out the hard drive, saved all the screws, reassembled - sans hard drive - and voila! Ready for turning in for recycling. Thank you.

I got the same laptop where i upgraded it to windows 10. I have bunch of issues 1. Wireless adapter is not working. driver is latest and tried all the options available on the internet, but no luck. How can i check if the actual hardware is corrupted and need replace. Can you show how can i replace that. 2. mine has 750 GB HDD. I dont want to replace it. but can i add SSD and install windows on SSD keeping the HDD as it is (as secondary). If yes. How can i do that ? 3. speakers, along with subwoofer crackle. It is not software issue as i tried different methods to fix it. Can i somehow replace them (or can repair them) ? Thank You in advance :)
Try a usb wireless adapter. Replace the cd drive with a hard drive adapter. Buy replacement internal speakers. You'll have to completely disassemble the laptop to replace them though.
Just make sure you install Windows from a USB to the new SSD BEFORE you put an HDD in the old DVD/Bluray slot. For some reason the installer goes into a loop if there is a HDD where it expects the Blueray drive. Probably because the BIOS is too old. Once Windows is booting to the desktop, shut it down and then add the second HDD.
The LS502x is a very curious laptop. I bought one from Dell and discovered some serious features not mentioned in the Dell literature. One is that it has onboard GPS receiver and coupled with the wwan connection is quite fun. The other is that it has dual band WiFi, but only one 2.4Ghz antenna!
Steve - I have upgraded / maxxed out just about everything I possibly can over the years with my L502X. Now I have a WiFi 6 Asus Mesh Routers (which were not cheap, but somewhat future proof, should my Broadband get quicker than 80 Mbps), I have noticed that my (Intel 300M dual-band WIFI +3.0 Bluetooth) 6230AN 62230ANHMW half-height wireless WIFI card MINI PCI-E🤣 ... is probably weakest link now. Your mention of only 1x 2.4GHz antenna is not the best of news either! Is it worth / is there any upgrade option (M.2 > mini PCI-E adaptor? or native 30mm mini PCI size) that will give me a meaningful difference with Wi-Fi connectivity, especially when around the weaker remaining places around my property?
I just cloned my c: drive to my sdd on the optical drive slot. So it dawned on me I just need to edit my boot priority in the bios. Thanks for the link!
