I've had personal requests for this one because it's gone now, so here it is! For a complete list of Baker films, go to: muppet.wikia.com/wiki/The_Bake...
I was ten when Sesame Street debuted but got to know it well from watching with my li'l nieces and nephews. Great to see this again! We always goofed on the "seven spooky spiders" guy.
I don't think i've seen this in 30 years and yet i still laugh at the baker falling down the stairs like i did when i was 6. Laughing out loud sure is good for the soul.
I remember they used to air this one more than any of the other numbers. Eventually I started thinking 'there's other numbers kids need to know besides this one.' Nevertheless I've always enjoyed this sketch. Thanks for posting it.
im currently showing these to my kids. the kind of tv shows we had before it all turned to crap. the drum beats on these baker series are as fresh as i can remember. i still laugh at the fall and its been 30 years! good memories. good lessons too. =D
7 straws (share that soda with your friends, kid), 7 spooky spiders (they're fake, sir; they will NOT hurt you), 7 nickels (you're .35 richer Brian Henson)!!! :)
Actually,what I meant by "bells" version and sound effects were that the "Song Of (Ten)" sketch origionally had "Ten Indians" but were then replaced with "Ten Bells" a few years later,and as for the sound effects,I meant that the current video up here has sound effects like a "Boing" and "Ding" when the baker was falling down the stairs and if I remember correctly,they were not origionally there.
I remember seeing on Wikipedia that the Song of 10 did originally have 10 Indians instead of bells. However, being born in '86, the bells version is the only one I remember ever seeing
@Maestrojosh87 It's funny about the Family Guy spoof because there's such a distinct age cutoff for who in the audience would get the joke and who wouldn't. Sesame Street stopped showing the Baker series in 1988 or '89. So people born after about 1986 or '87 would have no clue what that joke was about. Anyone born before that most likely would.
I have it but I missed the counting up to 10 at the beginning. I'm not sure what everybody means about the "bells" version. The kid throwing down the 10 bells is the only version there is. The sound effects of each bell as it organizes in two rows is not different from the one they aired over 35 years ago.
Whatch for it in the next jackass movie - - SEVEN MOLOTOV COCKTAILS!!! Whoop! Crash! Shatter! Poof! Big orange fireball, which sets off the building sprinker system
How many of you did your own version of the clumsy baker as a kid?? It always worked best with stainless steel mixing bowls, pots and pans. The more racket you made when you 'fall', the funnier it was. Those were the days!!
@HoustonRules I've never understood that, either. Why would an accountant need to wear a visor? All stereotypes are based in truth, so clearly some accountants used to wear visors in their offices. I just can't imagine what the heck for. XD
I know what you mean about the stupid new sounds added to 10. Where did you hear that it used to be 10 Indians? The "10 bells" is the only one I remember and I've been watching these since the early 70's. You could tell by the film and the style of the kid that it dated back to the original. I think the "10 Indians" was a rumor or a mistake that someone posted.
Wow, to think the beloved public-TV phenomenon could be so politically incorrect nowadays... I mean, taking pleasure in destruction @ the end, along with the HORRIBLE message for kids to 'lick their fingers' after having touched the ground. Having said that... yes, the baker was about the funniest thing on TV EVER for an 8-year-old! (Or however old I used to be then). It's still a yuk and a half! I mean, that's true slapstick! Where can you see a guy do a comedic wipeout like that nowadays? I guess, Jackass? These segments were GOLD, all 10 of them!

thank you for this, you have made my day mstatz!

My son and I are thrilled this is back!

Oh thank-you so much mstatz for posting this- the answer to so many questions about my own personal neuroses in life.
7 pumpkin pies indeed..

Man, that takes me back.

0:59 Don't touch the spiders. They will bite you and will poison you!
Great observation!
My favorite, along with 6 and 3.
The boy who counts the seven straws is the same one who counts the five ice-cream sodas, in the 5 film.
Omg! Fall stairs hurt LiTtLe MuNcHy pUfF!!! 1:20
*Falls down*
7 Straws
7 Circles
7 Ducks
7 Spooky Spiders🕷
7 Nickles
7 Pumpkin Pies
1:20 injured and messy baker

I grew up with the bells version of BN10 since that was the first Numerosity sketch I ever watched.
I liked this - nice to bring back good memories. However, my favorite Sesame Street Baker series memory is on the #5 episode (Hint: broken glass).
@Maestrojosh87

One of the pies was left at the top of the stairs!
This has to be the most tripped out version.

Well, I was born in 1987. I got the joke through you guys on youtube! Keep it coming so I can keep getting the jokes no one else does!
88ok
Ok,now all we need is 1,WHICH NOBODY HAS,and then we're complete.
LittleJerryFan92 Thomas Schofield and the Sesame Street Channel itself has a 1
@bakedzale
You got that right! The baker cracked me up as well, and this one is one that I especially remember.
I'm guessing this came out around Thanksgiving or so. Then the baker's seven pumpkin pies he had would make superb sense.
This is why I'm warped !!! BRILLIANT !
This scared me when I was little.
@RedFlameFox No, the intro.
right on!....would love to see them counted
That's the truth!
The guy who always looked behind the mini ? door looked a bit like Bob Denver, don't you think?
This would give kids seizures in the 70's
I Watch Baker #3 in real life when i was younger
Yes, they actually did. I can't actually say what it is because it'll disrupt the kid-friendly atmosphere. You'll have to see it for yourself.
Whatch for it in the next jackass movie - -
SEVEN MOLOTOV COCKTAILS!!!
Whoop! Crash! Shatter! Poof! Big orange fireball, which sets off the building sprinker system
My Rainbow - it’s always been nice a day lol
@HoustonRules
Yep. Only thing is, that specificity might mean that the series could end up not aging well. Time will tell.

+No More Honor Killings I was one of those who would do my own rendition of this!!!

Hahahaha! Those kids singing were totally from Brooklyn.
Why does the baker fall every time
@bakedzale I think I laugh harder now. Priceless! :-)
The man who said 7 circles sounds like the mad hatter from Alice in wonderland
1:15 What in the world is happening!😂😂
Seven spooky spiders!!
Also the 2 butterflies and 6 bats.
Seven Spooky Spiders--yes that's what the DT's are like, if anyone is asking
UA-cam kind of does change the whole game. XD
7 straws with 5 ice cream sodas?
@DragonLord1975 I never noticed that before, great observation!
I wonder if Spider-Man over on the Electric Company would be offended by the "7 spooky spiders" guy.
trippy!!!
...these number skits were my favorite
nobody has found or have a video for #1 yet huh.
Who is the boy that says "7 straws?" in this clip?
5 people lost their pumpkin pies
Looks like the baker's gonna need seven stitches I guess.
Actually,does anyone have "#10"?The one currently up here is the "Bells" version and has some stupid sound effects that were NOT origionally there!
Pumpkin Pies
Henson just dubbed the voice, it's another guy falling.
No it's not. It's his voice but he's not the one doing the free fall down the stairs.
8) Summer Is Everyone
Cameron Dallas
I know that baker did not eat that Pie from the floor
Next baker 8
does anyone have the 1-10 cartoons. the ones that had the race cars and flashers etc.
acholl980 You Mean 2-10 and those segments are called “Jazzy Spies”
7 ducks
There is NOTHING funnier than someone falling down stairs!
Unless you fall down them yourself. Then see who's laughing.
D Pallio ฮ
This is so basic it's cool. No digital animation or special effects.
Why don't people upload these kinds of Sesame Street videos anymore?
@HoustonRules
I've never understood that, either. Why would an accountant need to wear a visor? All stereotypes are based in truth, so clearly some accountants used to wear visors in their offices. I just can't imagine what the heck for. XD
@DragonLord1975 6 cameras=outside
I wonder if Jim Henson ever got broken, bruised, and banged up after doing 10 of these trips down the stairs.
normharris Oh! That was Jim Henson playing that poor baker 👦(always falling)? Wow! All this time, how did I not realize that?!
😮😃
Don’t think he did, as that is not Jim Henson. It is a stunt man. Jim Henson does the voice over.
Why is the video so low on the viewer? Is that a glitch or something?
Seven Against Thebes
Know who played the baker? Jim Henson!
"Seven...pumpkin...pies...! Ooof!"
So now Brian Henson was 35 cents richer!
Indeed he was!
35¢ won't buy you much today, maybe a clearance item or two at the local supermarket if that.

I know Family Guy made fun of the Pinball Number sequences from Sesame Street...in this case Stewie is the pinball! Not sure about this one.
