The recent Thor was terrible. The reference was so low. It was like watching a TV movie with massive amounts of compression.
Infinity War sounded ok. Most disney sound mixes have been hit or miss.
Thank you again Shane. As you report, this is the best version to see the film. However, I'm curious on a report regarding how these versions, Age of Ultron and Avengers, stack up against their 3D counterparts, for comparison sake. Please let us know!
Any 3D movie is derived from a 2K source. In theaters, 3D movies are ALWAYS 2K. So, 4K (with HDR) will be better
Now let's see how Dolby Atmos will sound in Avengers Infinity War this coming Tuesday. About time Disney is upping their sound mix a little bit. ☺

Yeah well. Got both on Blu-ray and see no reason to spend that much on minor upgrade. Will get Infinity on 4K though.

You sure age of ultron audio deserve a 9/10?? Because to me its audio is quite lacking of roar power....as I had to make the volume to above 20, just like the 1st avengers film, which is quite abnormal. Usually I don’t needs to make it this high for an Atmos audio.
Me too. I found the audio lacked punch in alot of scenes. I had to turn it up 4 decibels louder than I normally watch movies. Glad to hear it's not just me. I was beginning to worry

You can't be serious... The Audio in this movie (Especially Iron vs Hulk) was almost Muted it was so bad...
3d or 4k? The same with the first one i would like to know
I found the audio really lacked alot of punch in alot of scenes. The dialog was fine but when the action kicked in I had to turn it up by 4 decibels louder than I usually watch movies at. Some scenes had good bass.. but I would give it a 7 out of 10.

Strange because this Disc has a very low rate in Bluray.com. It has 3.5/5 and is one of the worst soundtracks of the marvel universe. You give 9.0 to audio. Now you take my attention and i want to check it out myself! Good job man!!!

Why is the first movie full screen but the next 2 have black bars? I don’t understand why they do this.
Nicky Wilson Spider-Man 2002 is fullscreen and Spider-Man 2 & 3 is widescreen.
If Disney is going to get stupid and DNR their back catalog I'm much less tempted to replace my blu-rays.
So does your original visual rating of 9.2 for the first one still stand since you say it was much softer than this one and you gave this an 8?
No 2 is softer. I mentioned the softness in the first review. Only minor in certain parts. 2 is noticably softer.
Never liked the movie, skip for me. Glad Disney did justice to the first Avengers movie which is my favorite next to Winter Solider. Thanks for your input and the review. Great content as always.
I have Avengers Age of Ultron on blu ray and the sound sucks. Good to know that Disney has listen. Will be picking this one up.
Marlon Cruickshank I thought it was just me! I even messed around with my sound system thinking that it was my equipment, lol.
The Blu-ray release has a pathetic audio (and that before Disney Atmouse even exist; it was an awful mixed DTS-HD MA 7.1 instead). This one on 4K is a significant improvement. Glad I seen this one on 4K.

You can still have noise in digital shot movies.

What’s DNR?
DNR (Digital Noise Reduction) removes film grain and gives it a more digitized look.
Shane you are right. The 2nd one looks much softer than the first. Most people watching on tv will not notice the difference but watching on a projector screen is very different. Even the hulk does not look proper green in ultron. In fact my wife noticed that. LOL. Bang on review for ultron as always. But have to disagree about T2 looks more sharper than ultron in my opinion.
Rajeev Gidwaney hulk color might be because of the entire movie palate. It was going for a warm undertone. First one was more vibrant neutral.
Hang Che ya you may be right. Still prefer the first one on 4k as the difference can be told by an amateur also. Even the explosions and the final fight scene was a stand out. Overall there are several demo. Moments compared to the other two. And the full screen also has an impact as i watch it on a 84 inch screen with a 4k projector.

I can't believe you actually gave the audio 9.0? It would consider mercy even if you give it 7.0. It's so soft and lack of dynamic range. One of the worst 4k blu-ray audio.
Suppose it matters what your listening on.
You speak like as if the bars is a bad thing, it's wider than the regular 1.85, That's why there's black bars.

Michael Foster I don’t get this. It’s kinda underrated at this point. There are some amazing sequences and nobody can block a super hero action scene like whedon can.

breadordecide yeah I wouldn’t consider age of ultron to be my least favorite mcu film. It is my least favorite Avengers film though. It really doesn’t hold up. Nothing happens in the movie and it’s almost pointless. I can see why some people find it garbage.
