BTS used to be an pure hip-hop/rap group until the singers came along and Supreme Boi was the 8th member before their offical debut in 2013( he dropped out). Suga was also going to be just a producer since he didn't want to become an idol, he just wanted to be an rapper but Bighit and the other members convenced him other wise.Supreme Boi is basically the phantom 8th member because he will pop up in their tracks every now and then but will not be on stage/ tour with the seven members.

Supreme Boi was a trainee when they were going to be the Hip Hop group, but when it changed, he opted to stay and be a producer. SUGA was originally signed as a producer, but ended up being doing everything. He joined BTS, learned to dance, and was a writer and producer for BTS.
