The Orchestre Lamoureux
Conductor: Igor Markevitch
Released: 1980
Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka (1804 - 1857) was the first Russian composer to gain wide recognition within his own country, and is often regarded as the fountainhead of Russian classical music. Glinka's compositions were an important influence on future Russian composers, notably the members of The Five, who took Glinka's lead and produced a distinctive Russian style of music.
"A Life for the Tsar" occupies an important position in Russian musical theater as the first native opera to win a permanent place in the repertoire. It was one of the first Russian operas to be known outside Russia.

Спасибо огромной! Вы самый лучший человек на свете!
Interesting orchestration 10 years after Beethoven's death . But Beethoven was not the music people always wanted to hear so maybe Berliozand Schumann's audaciousness too was not often on tha era's programmes ? Weber and Mendelssohn were big!
