+István Nagy The Toaster icon actually does exist in Windows. It's the 'default' icon for driver mounting. Basically if a dev is really lazy and doesn't code their driver correctly they will get a toaster icon instead of the one proper to their device.
You will have to use the key on the keyboard the toaster is remapped to, so by default the lever is computer enter, so you need to press enter on keyboard to start toasting.
My Toaster did not have a USB port, but i found some UART pads and i get the temperature and some garbage data. Edit: Connecting two test pads together and rebooted the toaster. I have now a root shell. Edit 2: I found out that the toaster actually runs a 1.2 Ghz ARM processor with a slightly modified version of debian, 512 MB of Flash Memory and 256 MB of RAM. And the LEDs are controllable with /sys/class/leds. Edit 3: The Lever has some special stuff, it is located at /sys/class/switch/value and /sys/class/switch/locked. The Value goes from 0 to 1024 and the Locked jumps from 0 to 1. Not sure why they would have a analoge value for that switch. Edit 4: I modded a WiFi card onto the toaster. I placed it at IKEA, and now it is torrenting only very legal Linux distros.

A PROTIP for folks: Toshiba toasters made after 2014 (yes, they make toasters too!) will ask to download an upgrade to ToshibaToast 3.2 - go ahead and do this. The result is that you will be able to remap not only the lever, but the Toast Darkness Dial. You can, for example, have the lever as 'Forward', as in the video, and the Darkness Dial as 'Weapon Select'. I usually put the BFG at 'Very Dark', for example.

waterlubber Sorry, on Linux you have to build the drivers yourself. You can do this by burning the toast thoroughly until it turns into tar. Works best with sappy/soggy toast.
That whole thing with the industry standard circuit board with the usb had me completely convinced, especially since I've worked in places where components are left over simply because it's cheaper depending on production size. The loud toaster handling sounds had me question the videos legitimacy, it was only when you opened the command prompt and entered "toast remap" only then I had realized I had been bamboozled. I made the same game-play interface. After the few hours of DOOM toasters increased the temperature in my room up to more than 40 degrees and my computer starts dying. So I used my old refrigerator and remapped shot button to the opening of refrigerator door. Now everything is fine! )))
When I'm opening the door, my room temperature drops on 0.1 degree. It helps me to compensate heating from the toasters. Additional effects: - Closing of refrigerator door sounds great when I'm using heavy gun. - I can take a beer any time without pausing the game.
