Yes it’s the same exact neck and scale length. No need to buy both and swap the necks tho. He probably just got a horrible one with bad QC. Buy one of these and throw a Fender sub sonic baritone neck on it and will have a sweet 27” scale for drop A/G for $500
I love the black on black jazzmaster look. Any guitar can be as awesome as you want it to be. Buy tools and Learn to dress frets, setup & intonate your guitar. The price of harley bentons should tell you what the materials cost vs what hand-on technician time for a perfectly set up, dressed & intonated guitar "out of the box" cost.
Absolutely! HB, another brand called Muso, and there was another I saw on guitar max that had every spec other than SS for under 200... the industry is a changing.
With EMG upgrades the ground wouldn't be an issue. Easy to install as well. As a mod platform this could be a monster. The fret work will take time and effort but would make a killer project
For the money, as long as it makes noise, you can't really complain tbh. I'd expect MUCH more wrong at that price point but props for HB keeping some kind of QC present. I'll still never buy one myself though but they would be great for a new guitarist.
At the price, the guitar is good enough to spend a little time working out the problems. The neck on mine is much better than the one that you have. No grounding issues either. Got lucky with this one. I have a H/B LP Jr that has one of the best necks I've played!
That actually sounds pretty darn brutal! But the fret job is just not acceptable, and I'm not really buying the argument "it's cheap". If I want a cheeseburger, McDonalds is a cheap option, but I don't have to bring my own cheese or make my own burger. Sure, it doesn't taste as good as a more expensive one, but it should still be a cheeseburger.
Reminds me a lot of the Squier Contemporary JM I previously owned. Unfortunately I couldn't really gel with the stock "SQR" active pickups in that one, and I ended up having to sell it before I could begin modifications. Sounds like the QC on the Squire was leaps and bounds above that Harley Benton tho. Sheesh! That's kind of a bummer IMO. Especially since I've really been gassing for both their MR Classic and new 30" scale JM baritone TBH. I really hope HB cleans up their QC issues before I eventually pull the trigger one or both.😕 Great demo my dude! Merry Christmas! 🎄
I love that you chose Left Behind for the demo! I love that song!! I was secretly hoping you would choose that one when you said it was in Drop B tuning

Always a pleasure to work with Andrew and help get his guitars ripping! If you want to learn more about how I fixed the wiring issue on this guitar, the full video is on my channel with a walkthrough of how you can do it yourself.
Great review man! I just got mine today and already spent some time on it. It did have the noise issue, a relative easy fix. I went as far as removing paint at points where the strings touch the bridge and added extra thin copper wire from the excisting ground to a few bridge screws. I also noticed that the guitar is very microphonic, maybe that’s normal. I did find the pickup spring are really stiff, i ended up cutting two in half and using that. I also needed to to file the pickguard because the pickups are really tight in there. I rounded off the fret-ends and polished them, that’s a BIG difference! Pretty easy to on a guitar like this! I really like how it feels and looks. And it plays really well. I also like the sound I think. I will finish setting it up tomorrow, I’m going for drop A with a set of EB Mammoth 12-62. But I think it will handle Drop B better. Thanks man keep it up!
Now this is tempting. I’ve always wondered about the feels of roseacer fingerboard. I don’t know if it’s like a low end version or similar feel to rosewood or not
Why so much hate for those tone knobs🤣 they are quite useful not only for clean sounds. I don't know how familiar you are with tom warrior (triptykon, celtic frost, hellhammer). Big part of his Sound is rolling of the tone knob and altough it's not a "modern" metal Sound, it's a heavy ass tone this man has. I watch your videos now for quite some time and you have some great content. Keep up the good work.
I really want to get one of the Harley Benton JA-60s. They cost a little more than this one, but I really want a more classic Jazzmaster, and they're still much cheaper than the Squier Classic Vibe. I don't think they have the same grounding issues, but I hope not.
Currently awaiting my shipment of this exact guitar. I went into this already knowing of the grounding issue. My roommate and I are starting to learn guitar at the same time and I wanted to take command of learning all tech support for us, I figured solving these problems would be a great start. I'm so excited for this platform thanks so much for the review! I'll post an update whenever I get mine
Just finished up doing the full setup and fix that other UA-camrs suggested and this thing absolutely rips! I love it. It's definitely $130. Please don't think it'll be magically $500 and it's a secret that no one found. It certainly gets the job done like crazy. Absolute insane value if you know what you're doing to throw some tone on it

Man i wish the baritone looked like this one. Cause the guitar looks super cool
I like this shape more too, but the baritone one sounds and feels better than this

Would a Squier Affinity Jazzmaster neck work on this guitar?
It's not the pickups. It's the bridge that wasn't grounded properly.
You should have played peckinpah
just needs an evertune and some fishman fluence moderns
Maybe I’ll do a mod project on this or the V as well haha!
Ah yes, two mods that each cost more than the guitar itself 😂 Just messing around, it would be a great mod project
Don’t use tone nobs you said.. lol tell that to the present day metal players who doom, sludge and stoner 😂
