Here's a look at the new Epiphone Pro Hummingbird and Dove electro acoustic guitars. Both feature stunning good classic looks and solid tops with great playability, build quality and all at an amazing price. They really do sound as good as they look. Both Pro models now available at Nevada Music, the UK's favourite Epiphone and Gibson store.
Epiphone Dove Pro Electro-Acoustic Guitar - Violinburst
A tight, smooth and focused sound is the hallmark of the Epiphone Dove Pro Electro-Acoustic Guitar, sister to the Hummingbird model. This instrument really sings, with a solid Spruce top and Maple back and sides whilst the Epiphone Dove features a 25-1/2" scale Hard Maple neck, Rosewood fret board with split parallelogram inlays, a decorative Dove with flowers embossed scratch plate, stylish Rosewood compensated bridge with wing inlays, and chrome machine heads.
Epiphone have carefully emulated the Gibson original, and thereby made this instrument affordable for most guitarists. However there has been no compromise on the choice of first class materials and the combination of Spruce and Maple used on the body give a rich sparkle to the acoustic sound. The finish and decorative scratch plate add to the aesthetics of this attractive electro-acoustic whilst the inclusion of the Fishman Sonitone preamp and Fishman Sonicore pickup system emulate the true, natural tone of this excellent guitar. The pickup is set underneath the saddle, while the active preamp is mounted in the soundhole with easy-to-access mounted rotary controls for Master Volume and Tone adjustment. This allows the user to make adjustments with ease without running back and forth to the amplifier.

Epiphone Hummingbird Pro Electro Acoustic Guitar - Washed Cherry Sunburst
The Epiphone Hummingbird PRO Acoustic/Electric guitar brings the legendary country/rock "Hummingbird" into the 21st century with the new Shadow ePerformer preamp and Shadow NanoFlex pickup system. First introduced in 1960, the square shouldered Hummingbird quickly became a classic thanks to Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, who used a Hummingbird for rhythm on early Stones hits like "Satisfaction," "Play With Fire," and "Under My Thumb." There are also many classic photographs of Keith using a Hummingbird on sessions for Exile on Main Street, Goat's Head Soup, and Sticky Fingers. Today, the Hummingbird Pro is still a go-to acoustic for rockers like Noel Gallagher, Sheryl Crow, and Kid Rock when they need a rhythm guitar with smooth action and superb "woody" tone that's full of character. On its own, the Epiphone Hummingbird Pro Electro-Acoustic can drive an all-acoustic band or be front and center at a picking party with its sweet, balanced tone. Now with the Shadow ePerformer pre-amp and Shadow NanoFlex pickup system, The Hummingbird PRO can plug-in and hold its own on any size stage.
    Solid Spruce Tonewood
The Hummingbird PRO Electro-Acoustic features a solid Spruce top. Spruce is a rich and complex tonewood that begins to breathe and improve with age. The body and neck are made from select Mahogany and the Hummingbird PRO neck has a classic SlimTaper D profile and features a 25.5" scale and is attached to the body with a glued-in dovetail joint. The Rosewood fretboard has Pearloid Parallelogram inlays, 20 medium frets, a 12" radius, and a 1.68" nut. There is single ply white binding on the fretboard and 5-ply white & black binding on the body top while the back of the body has single ply white binding. The Hummingbird PRO has the classic sloped Dovewing headstock has the "Epiphone" logo in white. The Hummingbird PRO Electro-Acoustic reverse belly Rosewood bridge has a compensated saddle for smooth action and intonation. The Shadow NanoFlex pickup system is under the saddle and the classic Hummingbird/flower tortoise shell style pickguard is easy to spot on stage or across a room.
    Shadow Pickup System
Epiphone and Shadow Germany have worked together for over a decade at perfecting ways to amplify an acoustic guitar on stage. The Hummingbird PRO is just one of many Epiphone guitars that feature a cutting edge pickup system that can handle any size gig and still produce an "acoustic" sound. The Hummingbird PRO's controls for the Shadow ePerformer Preamp are on the upper bout and include controls for Master Volume, Treble and Bass EQ, Mute, and a Dynamics control adjusted via a frequency curve. There is also a low batter indicator. The preamp is powered by two 2032 batteries. The output jack and strap locks are nickel and the Hummingbird PRO Electro-Acoustic is strung at the Epiphone factory with time-tested D'Addario Phosphor (12-53) strings.

You did not mention that the Dove is 25.5" scale and the Hummingbird is 24.75" scale. The Dove with maple back and sides, and longer scale should have a little more snap. The Hummingbird with mahogany back and sides, and a shorter scale should be a touch warmer. Hard to tell in this video unless you listen very closely.

I absolutely HATE where they put the strap button on these instruments. I always hit it when I play up the neck. I would prefer that they either placed it on the back of the guitar or left it off altogether like the originals did.

    Does the Hummingbird buzz much?

I can't detect any difference in the sound. Which one puts out stronger volume, unamplified, on the bass notes? I can't decide between either one of these, and a Seagull S-6 or Entourage.
