I know this video is "old" but how do you mute only the string in the middle between fe. 9 and 7 fret?

With the ring finger. And you play the 9 with your pinky and the 7 with the Index finger

press on the 7th with your index finger and mute all the strings below by slightly touching them. Make sure your index finger doesn't rest above the fret or it will produce harmonics. Then press on the 9th with your pinky. That way you get only two notes ringing. If you are playing this shape (called octaves) on the 3rd and 5th strings, which is pretty common in Linkin Park songs, also mute the 6th string with your middle finger.

Hey, you put the finger slightly on the string so it doesn't produce a tone when you hit it. Maybe there is some video tutorial for that here on UA-cam as well?

strings&tabs I couldn't find a video that explains it man.. These "x" notes are on a lot Linkin Park's old songs like Faint (I would love to learn it!) One Step Closer and Somewhere I Belong. Maybe you can make a video about those notes or songs?
